Originally posted on the Metroid 2002 forums:
I've got a couple more screens since then and made lots more progress: And the last screen: What could this be? So I'm working on this really enthusiastically when I get the time. As of now, I've return to Gaia Heights (Crateria) to do some more of the rooms in there. Once I get a new tileset, I can begin work on the Norfair-like area, and once I hear back from another person modifying an existing tileset of theirs as per my request, I'll be able to tackle another area in the western half of Cyclonia. I've set up some progress meters at the bottom of my post so you can keep track of my progress as I work. Lastly, there's a slightly outdated beta from a couple weeks ago if you're interested. It's for a headered Super Metroid (JU) [!] rom, meaning 3073 KB. You can click this link to download it: http://forum.metroid2002.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7573.0;attach=5709 Not much else to say. I'll update this thread as I make progress. You'll get new screens every once in a while as well. Hope I've gotten a couple of you interested in my project and thank you. Progress meters: Gaia Heights: ~50% -- Map finished Cyclonia: 33% -- Map finished Therma: 0% Aquatic Rift: 0% Fifth Area (Name withheld): 0% Final Boss area (Name withheld): ~50% -- Map finished Current Bug Count: 0 -- Bug free for at least 5 days! ____________________ |

I really like what you've done with the gfx. It reminds me of.....Chrono Trigger.
This one is my favorite! |

Posted by Ice Penguin I swear I've seen that background in another game, but I can't pick it. :/ Also, looks absolutely fantastic. My only comment is that some of the ground graphics look very "flat" while the other half looks more three dimensional which bothers me a tad. But all in all, I see you've been working hard from when I last saw it ages ago! |

You had to get in one last jab at my rocks, didn't you?
For those wondering, GK doesn't like the shading on the rocks in the ground in Cyclonia. At this point I could care because we've had the argument about three times now in IRC and out of it. The rocks stay. Thanks for the rest of the comments everyone! ____________________ |

The rocks do look a little wonky...
Course, I'm on Wii Internet right now so I can't get a good look. :/ Those still look greath though, and better than anything I could do, I suck at level design. ____________________ |

Nah, I don't care about the rocks in the dirt. More the fact that the grass/dirt/ground to open space barrier on some of those screens looks two dimensional compared to the other ones that look three dimensionalish. |
