Update!
I've been working slowly on this hack, but it's going along nicely. Here is the new feature I just finished, the new pause mode : - if you haven't collected any star in the level, or you're not standing on the ground (to avoid exiting before falling in a hole or while actually dying), you can't exit - if you have at least one star, and you're standing on the ground, you can exit : - pressing a special combination of keys, you enter the cheat input mode; press up and down to change the letters, press left and right to switch between the letters' position : I think this code will be used to exit level with all stars or to kill all enemies on screen By the way, cheat codes will include palette tweaking, just for the fun : |

Wow, this hack looks great. The Exit from a level feature is nice, and I like the idea of the cheat feature. How will the player get codes though? Will they be prizes for beating the game/getting a certain # of stars/ etc. Or will they(and how to get into the cheat menu) need to be found elsewhere? And, by the way, since I didn't post here before, the NES remix of Dire Dire Docks is awesome. ____________________ There are things I want to put here. Like a cool picture, my 8-bit theatre character test result, my MS and RO characters... But it's 12 AM, and I'm sleepy. |

Those screen shots look great. Cheats that change the palette are interesting but will there be other ones as well? |

The screens of the palette tweaking actually made me say "Whoa"
This hack is looking very promising! I can't wait to see more |

lol NSMB used the SMW ghost house theme for it's ghost houses, and the classic underground for caves...
I think using the above ground level or one of the vs songs from NSMB would be good another cheat would be cool to replace mario with something anyways, these are looking awesome!, I can't wait until this is done, SM64 and SMB3 were some of my favorite games! ____________________ |

Wonderful ideas. If you can get the cheat feature working well, that will be something people will truly look forward to.
Also, I can write Mids for you. Take a look at my CoH midis thread I made in Gaming for a taste of some of my gaming music. If you aren't satisfied with that, I can send you some original music that I composed for my bands / for fun, so therefore I wasn't limited to keeping it sounding game-like. Too bad Super Mario All-Stars would be too much of a bother to hack with the 3 other Mario games in it. It would be nice to see an SMB3 hack with graphics up to par with that of All-Star's graphics. ____________________ |

Posted by 1337_Ac3 Man, what a fucking crazy idea. It's not like it's already been done before, no. Not at all. Doesn't mean it'd be bad to implement it, though. |

Posted by StifuReal-time day/night (with palette changes mid-level if there must be?)Posted by 1337_Ac3 That hasn't been done. The closest was a kind of random weather system in Mario Adventure ____________________ I dealt with it. |

Look at World 4 in Mario vs Luigi, Luigi's side, Fortress level. Real time light-up/dimming. It wouldn't be that hard to do a real-time day-night system. I think it would neat to see, though I won't do it. |

I would, but random crashes every three seconds kind of removes the fun ____________________ I dealt with it. |

If memory serves, Bio did it too. Besides, even if it hadn't been done in any SMB3 hack so far, a day/night system is hardly a revolutionary idea, as that guy made it sound like.
Anyway, yeah, DahrkDaiz does great things with his hacks... but they're all insanely buggy. |

they're not that buggy. The only bugs in my hacks is the bank swapping bugs. I do too much bank swapping |

Posted by DahrkDaiz I remember the last castle in the next to last world (Was it ? The rectangle shaped world) of your Mario Adventure hack. If you started that level while holding left, you'd appear in a place that'd make you finish the castle much faster and more easily. That's the one bug I remember the most. |

That wasn't my bug, that was in the original game silly Anywho, I love the new stuff everyone is doing with SMB3. It inspires me to hack more. This way, we might get more Mario Adventure-esque (as in popularity since the hack itself isn't THAT great) hacks. |

Never noticed that glitch in the original game, but I doubt it was quite as... exploitable. |
