This took forever to make it look good. Now I have to edit in some enemies and fix the properties, and even change the door position. I'm like 50% done with this ONE room and it took me like 2 hours to do.

Yeah, a quick tip about finding the right tile, you can right click a tile in the editing window and go "Select tile in Tileset" to have it find the tile for you. You should also use another area as a reference when your first learning.

I'm making a hack about working with Croco (I was obsessed with Croco as a kid for some reason,) but I don't have any amazing tier screenshots because all I've done so far is replace some sprites/battles/dialog.

Sounds pretty cool, but that line really sounds too much like jumping into the subject immediately.
Maybe it'd sound better if Croco was looting Mario's house when he was gone, and gazed upon his quick return they have a fight and/or something like that which eventually leads them to join forces.
Or, I dunno. Just sounds like too much of a cliche for a villain to come and just say 'hey the final boss is back wanna join me?'

Fun with pallets. Advice to people who might want it: use opposite colors for light colors, like the Lazy Shell. Yellow with dark green. It just looks better. =p

Here are some screens on some medicore maps I've recently got done... more like just one map, two sections:





Anyway, my hack is, as of now, called Shadow Hack.

Basically, my brother always thought Culex wasn't much of anything but a big boss in the game, he wanted more,

He said in his pre-fight speech that he could not survive in Mario's world. But, what if there was a way to survive? There is.

Everything that ever was, and some that wasn't, they all contain a sort of thing called a "being". Culex has the abillity to feed on anyone's beings to stay in Mario's world, the only downside to not having a being, is that you become a shadow, (Kingdom Hearts rings through around this part.) a mostly gray and black version of your former self, a shell, if you will.

There are several people who have rather strong beings, and Mario happens to have one of them. Actually, one of the strongest beings in the known world. Culex needs that being to rule the earth and make himself habitable in Mario's world...

And he will proboly leave after that, I guess. I don't know.

I saw this aswell. Also, when playing that level, I don't think the physical map boundaries affect Mario.

I'm not really gonna do some make over hacks yet, since I still need more experience with the event scripts and stuff. I am however, adding some new contents to the game and changed some stuff around, like removing the menu and battle tut in the beginning .

Here's a palette swap of Culex as the sprite for my "DARK MAGE" super boss (The one that Culex mentions):

This is an edit of the first croco fight I've been working on, and I'm pleased with whats done so far. I made this boss a little harder by giving him another form to play around with and changing which attack he does. Also I am aware that when he turns into that dragon form the game messes up graphics wise, but it only last for one turn. If anyone would like to try this I could try and make a ips for it.
