Computer Stupidities

This site is really funny, it has a lot of weird and funny computer users xd

Example:

* Tech Support: "What type of systems do you have?"
* Customer: "I have four. A Pentium 200, a Pentium 66, a Pentium 33, and a laptop."
* Tech Support: "I don't think Intel ever made a Pentium 33."
* Customer: "It's a 486 Pentium."
* Tech Support: "Um, did you mean to say 486SX or 486DX?"
* Customer: "It's a 486DX Pentium."

Why is this in this forum? I think it'd be better in craziness or even general or computing.

I thought the one was funny about "What kind of Mac do you have?" "Duh, an Intosh!"

I knew some people at school who absolutely insisted there was something called "Windows 93". I asked them if they meant Windows 95, 98, NT, 3.1, etc. and they still said they were sure it was Windows 93.

My favorite is that daughter who is staying calm when a computer catches fire. xD

Yeah, it's funny how someone apparently thinks a computer catching on fire is normal.

Then again, I'm just as intimidated about cars as these n00bs are with their computers. Of course, crashing a computer is unlikely to hurt or kill anyone or cause thousands of dollars in damages.

I knew this was going to be thread 386, so I decided to make it about Computer Stupidities, and put it in "Lost Threads" xd

* Customer: "I need you to tell me what browser I am using. Is it Netscape 2.0? The reason I need to know is that I have read that Netscape 2.0 distributes a virus called Java."

This man speaks the truth.

* Customer: "I'd like to return this cdrom drive."
* Salesman: "Ok, what was wrong with it?"
* Customer: "It read the first side, but when I turned the CD over, it just said, 'Drive not ready.'"

Now why would someone think a CD has two sides?

Funnily enough, some DVDs are double-sided now

And I wouldn't really blame them, since a lot of things at the time (tapes, for example) were dual-sided...

Even floppy disks were two-sided once upon a time. A lot of Commodore 64 games, for instance, would ask you to flip the disk over at certain points, and sometimes you would have two programs on one disk, one on each side, or even two versions of the same program for different computers. I've had some disks that were like PC on one side and Commodore on the other, or Commodore on one side and Apple on the other, etc.
