PWN set: bug-steel, ice-rock, fly-fire
steel double efective to ice-rock, rock double effective to fly-fire, fir double effective to bug-steel.

Since they would be double effective against one another, and your opponent always takes the pokemon dominant over yours, don't you see any problems with the fact that you couldn't really win any of the first few fights?

Actually, I could put in NPC trades... Did you know that there's a special command in the original games that plays the trading cutscene and swaps two pre-chosen entries in the party data? I found it just after beating Misty and got her Staryu

Anyway, keep at it.

Maybe you could have some sort of held item that allows the pokemon to evolve into trade-only evolutions without the trading. But then there's the problem of pokemon evolving while being traded with a held item.

I call the Pokémon XD method. Sun and Moon Shards, which if in the bag, evolve the Pokémon and use them-self up. Must be the bag. Basically, those shards allowed Espeon and Umbreon respectively, if all other criteria is met. So say you level up an Onix holding a Metal Coat, and in your bag is something.. say a Trade Stone for being simple, Onix will begin it's evolution to Steelix, and use up the Trade Stone in the process. But B-Button cancel it, and the stone is still there.

I like that, actually.

Yeah, except, then it's not really going to be like OpenPoké, is it? It's not going to just be the original Pokémon, items, methods of doing things. Sure it'd be great as a patch, but not in the official release.

...Why not? Implementing new things is bad or something?

It's not in the original spirit of the design.

And how many people had people to trade with?

A lot fewer than you think.

Trading to evolve pokemon is a ridiculous idea, they never should've done it in the first place (yes, I know, money; doesn't make it a good idea gameplay-wise). Also, the "spirit of the design" is to make a good pokemon game, and if a thing or two is changed that makes it better I don't see how this is a bad thing. Especially if it doesn't break compatibility with the official games.

If you don't have any IRL methods or friends to trade with and ran out of NPCs to do so otherwise, an item of sorts as described above would be a fine last resort.

That's actually a great idea. However, if you have the item in your bag, then it would take the fun out of experimenting. For example, if you had a custom pokemon, and you wanted it to evolve if you "traded" it holding a particular item, it sort of defeats the purpose of the surprise if it were to evolve automatically. You'd want the person to experiment to see who evolves with what. Just create new items for evolution purposes. Like the "Trade Stone" (good one). For example, have Scyther hold a Metal Coat and use Trade Stone on it. That's a much better idea. Besides, Alakazam, Haunter, Golem, and Machamp were broken, anyways. Their stats were super high and the moment you evolved your Abra into Kadabra, you just traded it forth and back and got a lv. 16 Alakazam, that kept learning moves (unlike other stone evolutions which, if you evolved too early, you never got to learn any other moves beyond that level). Vicious.

Pretty massively so. I'm still surprised that after thirteen such mediocre posts, he's still not taken appropriate care of.

Incidentally, KTurbo, your post is just as bad as most of poke97's.
