Anyone know where i can find an easy to understand hex editor?I like hexpose,But it does'nt work on xp.I'm just a basic hacker and i don't understand a lot of the options on some of the better hex programs.I'm looking for something that basically has the same options as hexpose and works on xp.

I use XVI32 for everything, but I'd heard that WindHex32 is pretty good too.

I use Translhextion all my life which is my favorite Hex Editor. Windhex is good too but I don't use it often.

I just recently checked out Translhextion,Windhex32 and XVI32.The problem i'm having with all of them is that i can't find the exact word in the program.Example:I'm trying to change the text in dragon warrior 1.All i'm getting is errors that the string or word could'nt be found. This was'nt a problem with hexpose. This is'nt the only rom that not showing text.I'm working on some of my unfinished rom hacks hoping to get them done.I always like to change as much as i can in rom.But these programs are not working with me as far as text changing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Um... I wouldn't guess that roms of that era are going to have text encoded as ascii. My guess is that hexposure has built in table files and relative searching? By the way, I gather that hexposure is DOS only, so I'd just download DOSBox, since it might be the fastest way to get what you want.

Ill never understand some of the stupid names people give their software... like Translhextion.... What were they thinking?

That basically esures that anyone with any sense will never use it

Yeah, we get it. It's still a stupid name and it's not easy to say. Say it 10 times fast: "trans hex lation"

lol dat was funni!!!!!!

But yeah, being a Mac user, I'm with 0xED, but whenever I need to use the more advanced features such as wild-cards and whatnot, I go with either GoldFinger or XVI32.
They have yet to fail me.

Ditto, XVI32 is what I use.

But I'm really considering to find a good alternative.
