Yes the bird companion is what drew me to hacking this game. It's perfect for making a Castlevania game using familiars, rather than trying to hack familiars into an existing Castlevania game.

Thank you, I hit a slump where the game was glitchy due to some bad code, so i stopped working on it for a bit. Since then I fixed the glitch and it is working fine again.


I also have working a random item generator with some items or weapons appearing less often than others. The game will be full of randomness and rarities as well as some designed Item collecting.

Another update won't be for a while sorry to say.

Yes the new sound engine is in effect and works great, this game is now filled with authentic Castlevania sound effects... even the stop watch pauses the music.

Right now I am working on martial arts, I have the slide and head stomps finished, next is the back dash. Next I will work more on the familiar AI so they are completely independent allies. Level design is on the back burner.. I want to program all the power ups and enemies first and build the levels around them.

I'd like for you to play it but I decided to not release anymore patches until I have the gameplay complete. Although more videos are on their way.

This project has become bigger than I imagined, it has turned into it's own game engine completely unlike 8-eyes or any Castlevania game. It is a mash of all Castlevania's to this date and so much of it's working features have not even been announced or seen yet.

Hint - Necro bumping is a joke for game forums... You can't expect game creators to keep an ongoing day to day thread when it takes months and years to develop/hack/test a game to entirety...

I'm sure others are interested in this hack... And a little motivation from a few posts can kick start more momentum or inspiration...

Well here is some progress. This video displays some of the special abilities gained.

Run, slide, run-slide, back-dash, double-jump, head-stomp are all shown here. (I forgot to do the straight down head-stomp variation.)

Right now I am working on pointers and enemy generators. The bulk of the game play is done. Still working slow and steady.

Thanks for your support and interest PrinceBatman, I am not at a beta testing stage. I have enough I need to do before working out any quirks (there aren't many quirks btw).

I'm really happy to see this project updated still, especially knowing how busy you are with your life. You've built a very comprehensive gameplay, especially for the players abilities, which looks to have a lot of potential for combat and puzzle situations. It just looks like you need some enemies in there, and it'll be a full game. If there's anything I can say it's just to remind you not to get caught up in too many of the little details and believe that it can be finished.

And also just to remind you, I'm still interested in doing the soundtrack for this game. It may be a while though, as I'm very busy with life right now, as well as some other projects. : )

Given the magnitude and excitement surrounding this project, I don't see why there would be a problem bumping it in the first place. In fact, it's a blessing. When I have a thread like this for one of my projects I'm happy to hear from someone, it really can help the drive and interest for the project. And hey, guess what, elbobelo posted an update, and was happy to hear from him, and so am I. But you wouldn't know that because you've never worked on such a large on-going project, have you.

The whole FAQ/Rules/Guidelines needs to be heavily reviewed and modified. Bumping project threads was something I've always been okay with.
