Thanks, and thank you for your offer, but I'll have to see what happens first (if I continue with the project or scrap it or what).

I absolutely love the look of that level. The graphics and music and level design all flow together and really make me want to explore the place. Do you have a completed hack?

Wow, thank you, Xeruss.

No, I don't have a completed hack. I really wish I did, but stuff happens.

Don't get terribly excited about the music as it's not a part of the actual hack. I only added it to spice up the video. Before I release the actual IPS, though, I will be sure to add something equally as epic.

Excellent
Just try not to let yourself get to distracted or you'll never complete one. I've been stuck at the one-finished-world mark for at least a year and a half now, and I can never seem to find the motivation to pick it back up. Your level design is too promising for that.

I can echo these sentiments. I've started many a hack that got a few levels, then went absolutely nowhere.

I've just got to join in on this. I used to hack it too. I still vaguely entertain notions of getting back to it. I think the reason I stopped was because perl didn't work properly on windows ME or something....

Alright. Let's just find one more one-two world hacker, then combine all our levels, put all our names on the title screen, and have one finished hack.

Y'know, except for a coherent plot, working graphics and asm hacks and various other things that need to be done to the rom other than just throwing things together. I'd do it. I've always wanted a collab hack to finish....

Awesome. The hardest part is that everyone organizes their things differently. But I'll ship mine to ya if we can get a couple more people on board.

Wait, you're serious?

Oh man, I don't know where my old stuff is entirely. Best bet is to start working on a new one, everything was unorganized anyway, only a couple of worthwhile levels and such. I think I did pretty good as an OW designer though...

Well sure, I'll send ya mine, you send me yours maybe plus a few levels, we both make our shots at smashing them together, than switch back.
Hell, the odds of someone playing both hacks is unlikely anyway, so for that matter we could both just use the same general pool of levels to advance our hacks with no one really the wiser. Except everyone who read this.

It'd be easier for me to just make a new one ;

I need to get things again and do quite a bit of work for this. Hmm, I need to judge if this is worth it or not. I'd rather just build on top of something. But, you never know...

You guys need to post screens or something!

Behold, the first fortress of my hack! Think of it like the fortresses in SMB3 and the towers in NSMB/Wii.

Here are a couple of videos of my SMW hack that I'll be releasing soon.
I'm still working on it to see if it has any bugs/glitches that need to be fixed.

Title screen, intro & first level of the first world Quiet Coast.

A level in the second world Slushie Summit.

A level in the third world, Quiet Outlands.

I'll repeat one more time for clarity. I don't have my stuff on hand. I'd have to root through what used to be on a flash drive to find it. That's easily possible, but I never finished anything. I have probably six levels, all unfinished. And some other crap lying around. I probably still have some OW stuff that doesn't look completely awful, but then again, I'm guessing all of my stuff is mediocre. If you truly desire it, I can fetch up some screens.

As for you, the fortress looks great, keep up the good work.

Haz: Oh, I didn't mean you specifically. I was just referring to how dead this thread seemed to be lately.

Nintendude: Your hack looks like fun, but I have a couple of graphical concerns...particularly some of the bad palette clash in your levels. The outline colors are very inconsistent: some things will have dark or black outlines while others will have very light ones that are only a few shades darker than the darkest color on that object. It's all right to have light OR dark outlines, but having both isn't so easy on the eyes.

There's also some cut-off here and there, and I didn't even notice it until GreyMario pointed it out, but your hills are totally bacon.

Thanks for the comments GreyMario & Mineyl. By the way, in which video does it show a bad palette clash? Also, I didn't know what "bacon" meant but I guess it means that the hills are bland. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Everything I had was awful. I looked through it and was extremely disappointed. I had no levels finished and everything was a mess. Here Is the best of the worst. And everything has an explanation.

The OW: Nothing looks good and nothing is finished. The cave looking place with good graphics are not ripped by me. The Chrono Trigger castle was. I didn't spend more then ten minutes getting it to work and making Mario into Crono on the OW, so that's why the back of the castle is yellow, far too lazy to make the palette for that work.

The Intro Scene: Pay no attention to the text! It is filler text and obviously doesn't fit there. What is important is the BG I ripped it from terranigma and am proud of it, because it looks cool that's why.

The Levels: None, I repeat none are finished. The closest any of them come to being finished is the sonic 3 level. Those aren't my graphics for it, I really like them though. At the end of that level you dropped down a hole into the Super Metroid graphics on the right. The ones on the left are a bit less notable. The broozer is there because it was interesting to rip and put in. And the only reason the bonus room is there is because it was one of the first things I ripped.

There you have it. There's a reason I rarely pick up an editor anymore, and you can clearly see it.
