Acmlm's in bed and I can't very well get his input while he's sleeping, but I can post it here for him to see and for everyone to comment on:

- Main
--- General
--- Craziness
--- Seirousness (business)
--- Help/Suggestions

- ??
--- Creativity (Modern Art + writing)
--- Gaming (duh)
--- Entertainment (sports, that crap)

- ROM Hacking
--- Releases
--- ROM Hacking
--- Mario Hacking (not just SMW anymore)

- Crap
--- Landfill
--- ???? (Display Case equivalent)

Just a bit of an idea for now

I assume the serious forum is the old debate/officers/femine merged?

I never understood how the General/Craziness forums differed, since I often saw topics in one that looked like they belonged in the other. What is each supposed to be about, again?

Other than that, I'd suggest readding Tournaments, maybe, unless we just lump that with Gaming (which may not be a bad idea).

I suggest Hardware/Software/Programming/Computer Mayhem, for obvious reasons.

--- Mario Hacking (not just SMW anymore)

can we exclude SMB1 hacks

I'm glad to get M64 hacking out of my ROM hacking, though. score one for the home team etc etc.

I notice there is no approval forum, can we implement a lurker period after a few weeks/months or perhaps an approval system?

I kind of like lurker periods because they give the user a chance to read over the rules before they make any stupid posts, and make advertisers and spammers alot easier to weed out.

That line-up looks great. Better than the one at that other place. Will Mario hacking include hacking other games into Mario, and hacking Mario games? Just asking.
And, I have an idea for the display case's new name: The Hall of Memories. Who likes it?
Also, maybe there should be a Computing/Programing forum, under ??. Hmm.

setz,

"I kind of like lurker periods because they give the user a chance to read over the rules before they make any stupid posts, and make advertisers and spammers alot easier to weed out."

Hmm, not necessarily. If you read here for example:

http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=10730

It's just I think it's always been a good idea that they had to sort of explain what they were going to do to demonstrate that they are capable of actually saying things and being understood.

You're right that it doesn't always help, but for alot of users they just want to register and post immediately without knowing how things run and board-specific rules and all that, there's always going to be people who ignore that no matter what, though.

Yes. It will be serious.

Frankly, I don't think that's a good idea. The nature of Femine's Corner and Officer's Club is wholly different and usually mutually exclusive of the nature of World Affairs and Debate forums. Of course, they're both for "serious business," but there's different kinds of serious business.

I agree as well. Having a heated discussion about abortion, gay marriage, etc., right next to a thread by someone contemplating suicide, for example, just would be pretty inappropriate.

Having a thread about someone's gay marriage along one debating gay marriage would be hilariously ironic though.

Frankly, I'd be most happy to see the board revolve almost entirely around ROM hacking, and I never understood anyone who registered at any incarnation of ACMLM's and didn't visit the hacking sections, but whatever.

this lineup is good, but i think maybe merge craziness and general... or at least just encourage people to be wild and fun! that's what forums need again.

Lineup looks good. Femine/Officer Club together as one unit is preferable, as I already stated.

Since this lineup is includes the 'starter forums' I guess I can overlook the fact that no Story Forum is there

I think SMW Hacking should remain separate from other Mario games- there are a ton of SMW-specific utilities and such that make it a "special case", as it were, as opposed to hacking say, SMB1 and CV1, where many of the same rules of NES hacking apply.
