So I ran into this hack earlier while looking for some other Rockman2 (NES Megaman 2 in the Japanese version, somewhat different so named distinctly here) hack Valcion asked me to look out for (unfortunately, I failed to find that one ). Unfortunately, I don't remember where I picked it up or what the context was anymore, or even if it's a final version, because I had to switch machines quickly... anyway, it's a quite very nice, but insanely hard hack of said game; all the graphics and music appear to be changed (for the better, I think, not that the original music in the game wasn't already awesome), so I thought I might as well share it with you (since those Japanese hacks otherwise hardly ever get known over here if they aren't ran into and hyped like those SMW hacks).

Just played it through. It's pretty awesome. I don't think the Wily stages are done yet though, some of them are REALLY glitchy. I kind of don't want them done though, because if the Wily stages that were done were any hint, they would be impossible without either being awesome at jumping or using save states.

Just played it through.

So my suspicion is right, and it's less of Rockman2 being damn hard and more of me sucking at it...

Another really excellent japanese rom hacker wins again.
They're always the best when it comes to doing rockman hacks.

I really like this new music so far, it's pretty cool. I think the new quickman song is my favorite so far. I've played all 8 stages so far but only managed to beat 2 today. It sure is hard as hell.

I'm so jealous of the level design and music though. I swear to make mine really good for my own Megaman 3 hack, but it'll be 2-3 years from now until i begin designing my levels, as im currently working on the 8 bosses and nothing else right now.

Edit: I just located a possibly more recent version of this for you all.
http://yamaika-web.hp.infoseek.co.jp/
this is the author's website. It seems like it's just a large message board, but i was reading through google translation, and i found a link down under the 10/21 section, which is the hack itself, and it's got 2 versions, a Hard mode, and a Easy Mode.
the IPS patches are bigger than what Blackhole89 found, so i think this is a updated version.
Well the website does mention that this one is complete

Also i translated the readme file so we could find out what he's saying
http://www.a3share.com/members/108/ff.PNG

The hard version sounds pretty cool hehe

http://yamaika-web.hp.infoseek.co.jp/RockmanNo_constancy.zip
direct link straight from their website

edit2: I think it's a very BAD idea of them to reduce the invisiable time on hard mode.. fuck i couldn't stand playing for more than 5 minutes cause basically once you get hit by even the most weakest of enemies, it'll become next to nearly impossible to re-gain control of megaman, causing you to lose more than half your life immediately, or just plain die. :-/
stick with the normal

Just finished the easy version... one of the best hacks i've ever played.
The weapons are excellently done, the music and graphics are amazing, and I cant wait to finish the hard version...
Spoiler:
That GAME OVER! message seemed a little suspicious...

It is the 1st time when I test a hack of Rockman and I am really filled, that proves that in spite of its power, Nes can have magnificent graphics!

Especially when some of the graphics is taken from 16-bit games.

Like that Yoshi Island cave. Despite the 2-bit graphics nature of NES, he managed to copy over stuff from a 4-bit graphics console well.

15-bit, actually, with an 8-bit palette; only single tiles are limited to 16 palette entries (unless you go for that one-layer 8-bit screen mode).

HOLY CRAP SRW MUSIC THIS IS THE BEST HACK EVER

also

anyone know how to get past this really annoying part in wily 1? It's soon after you use item 2 to get across a huge pit in the first stage (the spot i'm talking about has an E-tank on a lower platform)

The ceiling is way too low to make the jump successfully, and the height difference between the E platform and the middle platform is just enough for item 2 to slip under so you can land on the other side, but I can't seem to catch it/catch up to it. Any ideas?

If you're in the area I'm thinking of I just used a well placed Item 3 so I could make the jump.

I must have an imcomplete version of the hack. I beat the dragon and saw that Wily's Castle 2, 3, and 4 had not been finished. I got to the robot master room, killed heatman, and remained trapped inside his damn chamber without any way to get out.
