Ok, for no reason, my file all of sudden is running constantly at about 3/4 normal speed. I've done nothing I haven't before, other than insert a lot of ExGFX today but that shouldn't do anything. The ZSNES emu speed is at 1x so it's not that. I've also tried using three different versions of ZSNES as well (1.50, 1.42 and 1.36) but the problem is the same. And also, after having loaded my hack, I tried another file and the same thing happened to that file. Does anyone know what I could've done to have this happen and how I can fix it?
I will admit though, that the 3/4 speed SMW tunes aren't bad... ____________________ |

Use the Fast ROM Patch at SMW Central. Unfortunately, this patch is not compatible with the SMB3 music patch (Which also means no SMB1 music, either), and if both are patched to the same ROM.... Hitting a block from below glitches the game and freezes it. =/ So be careful when using that patch. Perhaps one day someone can make a Fast ROM Patch that doesn't conflict with the music patches. |

that probably own't help too much, honestl.
It won't AFAIK change the speed at which ZSNES emulates that ROM. FirePheonix, if the tunes thselves are running at 3/4 speed, it is not your ROM. erase your config file fromthe ZSNES directory and set ZSNES up again. make sure to enabled auto frame skip and set it's max skip to 9. that should work. |

I tried erasing the config file but no good. In fact, this isn't even limited to Super Mario World anymore. All the roms I tested are slow. Oh, and it's not just the music, it's the whole game. I'm thinking of just downloading a new ZSNES.zip, deleting the old one and trying a new one. ____________________ |

Ok, I'm pissed now.
So I think it has something to do with ZSNES and my many versions of it laying around on my computer. I then proceed to find and delete all the files (minus the .smc's, .srm's, .zs#'s and other stuff) associated with ZSNES. That meant all the zsnesw.cfg's hiding on there, all the zmovie.cfg's, the docs folder, the .zip's of the different versions and anything else that ZSNES might have used. Then I take all the roms from all the folders I had them in and stuck them in one big ZSNES folder. I open up the Internet and proceed to download the newer ZSNES 1.51 and unzip it into the folder. I open it up and load a game. THE SAME DAMN SLOWDOWN PROBLEM HAPPENED. How could this be? I deleted every file that was marked ZSNES on my computer, even running a search to make sure I wiped them all! Every one of my SNES roms are running at 1/2 to 3/4 speed. What makes the least sense is that ZSNES 1.51's config file shouldn't make it act like the previous version were. I for the life of me can't figure this out. What pisses me off more, is that the damn things work fine on my downstairs computer, and the ones at school. And that was the same version, copied to my flash drive and used. Does anyone have even the slightest clue why all of a sudden my computer is doing this? No other programs are running slowly, so it's not an issue of I'm using up too much RAM. I have 1GB of that. ____________________ |

Posted by Sparx Yeah it does. Windowed and fullscreen. I wonder if it's one of the display modes that is causing it but I've used them all before with no problem. All I'm using now is no interpolation. ____________________ |

Maybe try running at 16-bit color instead of 32-bit color and see if that helps? |

ZSNES has never done that for me... save for when there is a program using up CPU cycles. If you're on WinXP, use ctrl+alt+delte, and enter task manager. view processes, then sort by CPU. Anything high at the top (you may need to click CPU again in order to sort correctly), other than ZSNES or the system idle process is likely the culprit. |

Still having problems, but I think it's the SNES roms that are the problem. Yesterday, I downloaded SNES9x v1.43 for Windows and tried a game on it. I had the same slowdown problem.
I'm ready to admit defeat. There's no way I'm going to do anything to my roms, like delete and re-download and pray they work right. I'll just have to live with the slowdown. Heck, I did it last night while playing a new SM hack. In fact, the slowdown may help because I can see things coming at me quicker and react faster. Oh well...Thanks for everyone's help. ____________________ |

It sounds like your computer, not the emulator or the media itself..
Though, I can't imagine what would be causing it, so.. eh.. |

This is very bizarre.
Your ROMs are not the problem, since you already claimed that they work fine on different computers. The emulators themselves are also obviously not the problem, since you downloaded a fresh copy of SNES9X. Try reinstalling DirectX and your video drivers, maybe? I do believe both SNES9X and ZSNES use DirectDraw to render their video. You might also try disabling sound completely (both emulators have such an option). Basically, try disabling/changing various features until you (hopefully) find the culprit. ____________________ [citation needed] |

Um, you need to check that you aren't bumping threads. This one is way old. Closed. |
