Yes, finally, after two fucking years of working with this game, it is "done" and done is in quotes for a reason.
Until Keytastrophe, this hack has pretty much consumed 80% of my free time. It started as me being stupid and learning how to use the program, but after advice from Golden Yoshi (who I have to thank so damn much for all his help along the way, and beta testing absolutely everything) it turned into this. Basically, this hack is done. Now, I use basically lightly. Extra 3 4 5 and 6 are incomplete, and that is it. Everything else is done, but I lost motivation for this hack. Big time. I call it complete though, because 1-1 to 6-8 is done. There are probably still a plethora of minor glitches, but after playing through it six million times, there is nothing game breaking, except a part in 4-3 where you can't get 100 points. This happened because my Welcome level and 4-3 intertwined their data and corrupted each other - so I got to pick which one worked. I am proud of how this turned out - I am proud to call it the second completed Yoshi's Island hack ever. To be honest, I don't care if anyone else is proud, because this is a personal achievement for me, and I'm quite happy to say so. For those who have been waiting years for this .. here is the link you have wanted: Kamek's Revenge.ips Features: -54 or whatever brand spanking new levels, ranging from easy difficulty to pretty damn hard difficulty. -Lengthly levels, ranging from 5 minutes to half an hour (there are plenty of mid-rings, but you can use save states I guess if you get stuck badly) -The first Yoshi's Island hack to ever have ExGFX, so to speak. All the level icons are edited, and most sprites have slight GFX edits. -Some slightly tweaked music, but again, that's another thing I lost motivation on. -And more stuff which I don't remember. So yeah .. enjoy what's here anyway. Please don't post glitches here, since this is the last time I'll be working with this hack. However, if there is something absolutely devastating that you absolutely CANNOT continue on, then I will fix it I guess. Instead of screenshots, I'll link the three movies I posted earlier to give a sample of what to expect: So that's all. Thank you to everyone who has supported me for the last two years, and I hope you all enjoy this. Kudos to those who beat it! ALSO, PATCH IT TO A V1.0 ROM Third time I have copy/pasted this. Woo. ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. Don't forget to RTFM. |

I have been waiting for this forever! Awesome. It's really nice to see another completed SMW2 hack on the map. With all the attention SMW gets, it is nice for it's younger brother to get some attention once in a while. |

Posted by yuG kooB cimoC The cave theme is a bit different, and same with the final boss theme. Other than that though, there is no more altered music. ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. Don't forget to RTFM. |

There are different v.1.0 ROMs out there, I tried the (J), (E) and (U) variants, some had an M3 entry in the file name. Two other ones also had that [!] sign, which usually should mean "good dump".
I tried the patch on all ROMs - everything either quit ZSNES, produced a black screen. What's weird, that patching it to a 1.1 ROM even allows me to access the title screen, but in the intro scene, all text boxes contain garbage, skip automatically and the game freezes. So, can someone post the file name his/her ROM exactely has, so that I can look for that one ? Thanks. |

Surlent: your ROMs may be interleaved ? If that's the case, either you could go and look for a deinterleaved one, or deinterleave yours yourself, using NSRT. |

Interleaved ROMs ?
I know what a header is, know a little about hex editing, but I don't know actually, what an interleaved ROM is (Wikipedia just throws out a general explanation) Anyway, I downloaded that tool you suggested and scanned one of those ROMs. Maybe you can see something in the following screenshot, if it is simply the ROM I got or something else. It shows a "No" in the interleaving entry. Again, ZSNES and other emulator work without problems with other hacks (assumed the original ROMs are okay and verified). http://mitglied.lycos.de/mithrandir21/yi.jpg I use LIPS for patching ROMs, usually works very good (and inredibly easy to use either). |

Try a ROM with a 512 byte header, or use a tool to add one. I'd suggest a tool, but I have not used DOS or Windows as my main OS for years. |

Posted by Cellar Dweller I added a header manually with Hex Workshop, it didn't work. Then I tried the goold old SNES Tool (programmed under DOS), surprisingly working in Windows XP (even by double-clicking and without having it to start from the command line). I simply added a header on the (E) version, and now it runs fine Edit: Found a part in 1-2 where you can get stuck, thus requiring a game reset. Usually the platform returns if it isn't too much apart from Yoshi vertically, but somehow it got away and you cannot get out. Otherwise it is hard to judge a hack on only one and a half level, but I have to agree with blackhole; it was fun until now. The eardrum message was quite funny, as it is the only really annoying part in original SMW2 anyway - and seeing rectangular !-switches is weird too |

hello,I just dloaded you game, and it seemed really good except it look me a little while to get past welcome level. Then 1-1 was easy again. The level design seems really good too except for that it seems a little bit difficult too soon in some parts. Oh,and I died at the beginning in 1-3. if you dont go directly through the gap to the cave room, you fall and die b/c you can go through the log thing and fall down so maybe you should fix it,but it's not that big of a deal. |

You don't see many YI hacks out there, I give anyone respect who can use that YI editor without seeing the graphics since I can't hack what I can't see. I'll give this the hack a shot before the boyfriend wants to hit the bed. ____________________ - Nikki |

I think I noticed a few glitches or I dont know what to call them. It might have not been your fault. i think you worked really hard on this to make your level designs really good like I mentioned before. For example, like in 2-8, in one of the rooms, if Yoshi gets hit,Mario starts crying and he goes under the ! thing that goes down and you hit with eggs so it is not possible to get him or mario goes out of the screen. Also, in one of the rooms after you get the middle ring, the bandit gets you,and if you go back,I think the red coins disappear for some reason and if you break the blocks where you;re supposed to get the key from the flower pot, you cannot push it to where you're supposed to to break it b/c there's lava,I think so maybe put it in the middle so you can just put down. However, in some levels,I think if you get the middle ring and die,you get a middle ring, and you start in a different room. I think that was like in 6-3 or something. I looked it up in Eggvine. the thing goes in the lava and you die after you get the middle ring in the room before it,I think and then, when you continue, it seems like it skips some rooms,if you know what I mean. Well, you might have to change something in Translexhation. I could try to help you,if you want, but most everything else seems all right. Also, something weird happened. It was by accident. I don't know how it happened, but it makes it so you can get 999 guys if you die and there is a ! switch under and you fall and hit it. You still die, but when you continue,it says x999 Yoshis left. |

As usual, it doesn't work properly for me. The title screen runs, but it's completely glitched. But the story text underneath is normal. After I press Start, just blank...

Okay, headered. What does it mean? I know it's a block of 512 bytes at the beginning of the file, but what's in that block? Zeroes? FFs? Important data? |

Zeros will work. As best as I can remember, emulators will completely ignore the contents of it. |

I think they read the ROM's real name out of it. I'm not sure though.
It serves no purpose on emulation itself, though. ____________________ |
