Simple enough, we make situations of any type, real or non-real, silly or serious, etc., and then answer "What would you do?" in that situation. Feel free to make up situations whenever you want, but try to give each situation some time to get some answers.

There is one rule/guideline.
1. The creator of the situation can place any restrictions on their scenario.

Here's one to start you all off:

"You are falling from 30,000 feet up in the air. You want to live, y'know, because living is good, so you hope to slow yourself down to a point where you won't go splat. Falling with you are a cell phone, 25 feet of rope, a cat, a bowl of jello, an umbrella, 15 packs of bubble gum and a baby sperm whale. There is a lake that you can see very far down below but not under you. Wind is strong below the clouds. This is an unrealistic situation with no physics besides gravity and acceleration due to it.
Restriction: No teleporting to safety.

What would you do?"

Have fun!

Teleport to danger and then walk to safety. Hey, you didn't ban teleporting completely.

Hmm. Right. Well, for a start, I'd eat the Jello, because all this falling would probably have given me an appetite. Mm. Then, I'd probably give the Sperm Whale the cat to eat, because it also had probably worked up an appetite. Then I'd let it call it's Mom on the cell phone. Ooh. Then I'd tie the rope to the umbrella, and open it up. AND! I would chew the gum all at once, and stick it to my feet, so it'd be like a shock absorber when I hit the ground. This accompanied by the umbrella slowing me down, I'm pretty sure I'd survive.

Oh, this one's easy.
Because we have only the effect of gravity, using an umbrella won't do any good, because that's friction / drag.
If we have to rely on gravity to save us from gravity, we have to resort to bouyancy.
Ergo, we must create a massive air balloon from the bubble gum so that our net density is little more than air, so we only float down to the earth at a nice gentle speed. And since we're throwing out surface tension and stresses, the air balloon will thankfully never pop - we can just use one stick of bubble gum and be fine.

Or, alternatively, we throw out electromagnetism in which case the universe collapses into a black hole and we don't go splat. We go squish instead.
I guess that's not such a good alternative.

Kernal won that one a long time ago.

Looks like we need a new situation.

---
You're trapped in a room 10 square feet in size. Your only tools are the ASHPD, a 2 foot long rope, a music cd, and a catgirl.
Oh, and you don't have any magic powers; the catgirl has none either.
---

Ok, go.

I rub both ends of the rope together to create a fire, with which I melt the CD into the shape of a condom, and with the ASHPD and the catgirl I have kinky, technically impossible sex until I starve.

Assuming I have to get out of the room,

I use the rope to strangle the catgirl in order to prevent any attempts of escape or violent resistance to the upcoming process. I proceed to create a set of portals above each other on the floor and ceiling. Then, I drop the (hopefully sufficiently heavy) catgirl into the lower portal and let it accelerate in its infinite-loop fall for a while. Then, I reset the ceiling portal into one of the walls, thus giving the opposing wall a blast with like 70kg of dead catgirl accelerated to several tens of thousands km/h, at which it hopefully breaks down. I use the CD to scrape the resulting mess off my clothing and walk out into safety with the smile of a man without principles.

I personally would use the CD to slit the catgirl's throat, but that's just me.

You didn't put this restriction, so I'll take the obvious answer of creating some portals and teleporting to safety.

You can't. What are you going to fire the other end of the portal at?

What ABW said. It's a solid room. The floor, walls, and ceiling are just...solid. You can only shoot portals onto one of the 6 surfaces in the room (and possibly the catgirl), you're still stuck there. Durr.

I don't think their color matters much, Remnic.

In fact, wasn't the ASHPD only capable of making portals on flat surfaces of sufficient size, ignoring Penny Arcade? Incidentally, the catgirl is not a viable portal target either.

Heh. I was actually thinking about Portal Flash when I made that post.

Scenario: You are trapped in a turbolift near the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D because the power is offline. All you have is a tricorder, phaser, and the knowledge that life support will be offline in 15 minutes if you don't do anything.

What do you do?

You didn't put this limitation, so I'll teleport to safety and turn on the life support.

Implicit in the situation is that the transporters are offline.

OK then...

I use the phaser to cut a hole in the turbolift. I now create some portals to navigate the shafts quickly, and use the phaser when necessary to cut through an obstacle or exit the shaft. I make my way through and turn on life support.
