hi, I'm having a small problem between these programs.
Has anyone used spc2midi ? I have used its pretty good at what it does, however though I need to reorganize the channels an instruments to where it will sound alot better. I have been using sonar 4 for abou 2 1/2 years and it always gets the job done, however when I import the midi generated by spc2midi it says it can read the file and it will close the file or crash sonar 4-6. I have tried a trial of cubasis XS Trial version and it opened it up just fine but cannot load the channels or instrument panel for the midi.... if anybody has ever had this problem and has a solution or know whats wrong please let me know. This just buggin the living daylights out of me!

Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum but I didn't know where else to put it...

AFAIK, FPI has this problem too and it's caused my SPC2Midi, because that program just sucks creating the midis. They will play fine in Winamp, WMP or something else but they don't seem to be viewable/editable, sorry.

Well I guess I'll have to do it the very hard way using spc2midi's instrument set up..... I really did have high hopes for this program... I was going to do a lot of remixes with the spc's I had and eventually use 3 of them in a hack...

You could try openSPC's Impulse Tracker (.it) file output mode. That's nicer because you aren't limited by midi's preset instruments. Rather, it uses the samples from the .SPC file itself. You can you modplug tracker to export to .WAV I think.

The problem is that openSPC's coversions are very much out of tune....at least in my experience ._.

In my experience, spctool's convert-to-MIDI function produces decent output, even though single channels keep straying off key
Have you tried using it yet?

Where can I and other people find it as this will come in handy for helping S.N.N. with his requests that he dealing with on SMW Central.

Off-Topic: Also, I sent you a PM on Sun 12th Aug 2007 at 09:12:57 PM GMT and you haven't got back to me yet with a reply. (I'm not saying here what it was about though)

Here. You might need DOSBox or something similar to run it if you have an NT-series Windows without a VDM.

As for that PM... forgive me, I forgot about it like I tend to do about PMs that I've already read; I'll look into it tomorrow

Also, just to ask will Windows 98SE be okay to use this? as I have Virtual PC set up on my computer.

Yes, the 9x series still is essentially stuck on top of DOS, so DOS applications should hav e no problems except at most for some pre-386 abominations...

Okay, thanks again blackhole89!

Edit: How do you convert songs as I try to enter the actual program via MS-Dos and it comes up with garabge.

Any help?

Thanks BH for the info but I found a solution that is half way working... I talked to the athuor about spc2midi he said to use noteworthy composer to open up the custom midi and save it again. I did that and sonar 4 can finally see the midi but the the whole song has a reapeating skipping sound through out the midi. I don't know which option in noteworthy can fix the problem. if you know of way to fix it please let me know.

Part 2 of the problem...

Ok I'm noticing a problem how Noteworthy is workin with converted and non converted midi....

I just played a midi from vgmusic.com in Noteworthy on importing the midi it has changed how some notes play properly.... which makes it studder through out the song, if someone has used this program before is there a option in noteworthy to not make the midi studder or shake around like that ?

sorry about the questions and all.

It might help to run it from a fullscreened console (run cmd then press alt-return).

I fixed my problem permanently Black hole...
When I imported the midi to NWC and save it again I resent that modified midi to sonar 4 the 2 main problems was that the tempo was slow and I increased it to its right speed, also that ticking noise had to do with the drum instrument, currently I'm looking at the instruments to figure out which drum will cooperate with that ticking drum channel.

thanks for your help though.
