Hey all.

Ok this is going to be the last time I switch around the plot, overworld and level design of my hack. (Maybe not the name of it but that's a different story.)

Here's the plot: (The plot is done as if Super Mario World never happened so he hasn't met a Yoshi, found a Switch Palace, etc.)
Bowser has kidnapped the Princess and taken her to his underground hideout in a far corner of the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario has bravely followed his way to Bowser's castle, ready to rescue the princess from his clutches. Mario enters the castle and gets partway in. But, Mario finds he can go no further because he'll need to find two "Switch Palaces." Unsure what that is, Mario has no choice but to explore Bowser's Hideout and the forest above ground. And so begins Mario's quest to save Peach and defeat Bowser.

The Forever Isle will be later in the hack, but not in the demo as of now. The plot may seem dull as of now, like one that's overused but what's one to expect plotwise from a demo? It'll get better in the full version.

Some of the levels will be familiar if you played earlier demos of my hack, before it was what it is now, but most of them have changes to fit their new world placement.

You guys are actually getting a little more of the demo than I wanted to give because I tested the first demo I made and it was corrupt. Since I made the demo though, I’d already started the third world and had all the events worked out to get there, unlike the first demo. And, I couldn’t find the old file so I just had to cut off my file at the very end of world two. (The first was a little less that two worlds.)

Ok, enough rambling, here's the screens:

I'm pretty sure I know most of the glitches in the game, but if you find any at all, let me know.

Demo download link: super mario eternity.zip - 0.31MB

Enjoy it!

(I hope the download works, I've been trying all afternoon to get the silly file to work right...)

Looks good from what I see, I'll DL the demo after I finish my homework. Also, I think this is the first time I've seen a hack with the "Bowser Ball" in a normal level!

I've seen it before in either second Reality Project 1 or Super Mario World Plus. I can't remember which.

I could try that, but I don't have one yet. I really wish the attachment function was here...

well, they're free and it don't take long to register, 'specially if you already have a yahoo name. That's where I upload my files. You don't even need to make a webpage!

Okay, let's take it from the top! A-one, a-two, a-one-two-three-four!

Screens:
1: Okay by me.
2: A bit bland, but okay nonetheless. Perhaps add some ? Blocks or something? Even the original game (and SMB3) had those breakable blocks (Turn Blocks in SMW) in places with nothing in them, so you could break them. Just a though.
3: Nice underwater area. The palette doesn't strike me as underwater, though. Maybe you should make it normal ground, but darker. Heck, you could even make some special GFX for it that makes it look like the farther down you go, the darker the ground gets.
4: Here, the palette seems to be wrong, and.... Why do you have clouds in a forest? Shouldn't the clouds be ABOVE the forest?
5: I'm not exactly liking the red spikes.... I like them better as yellow ones.
6: No comment. It's fine as it is.
7: How'd you get the Bowling Ball to work?
8: Nice shot, but the Piranha Plant is wrong. And don't start it with "The Piranha Stem Fix doesn't work no matter how much I patch it", because you can't see the changes in LM. Just follow its readme, and it'll be fixed. And if you follow the optional step, you get to use both the Classic AND Upside-Down Piranha Plants in ANY level. How's THAT for a bonus effect? Though, it's just another offset you have to change. But trust me, it's worth it, since you get to use both Plants in any level you want, without the need to switch SP4 to 4 using Super GFX Bypass.
9: Where did you get the branch GFX? It seems oddly familiar....
10: This is an okay shot.

Uhh....Work on your levels a bit more.

2: To be honest, I never really think of adding much more than I need to complete the level and have the five Yoshi Coins. I'll probably add more things to levels because for one, that level in the shot is quite devoid of blocks.
3: Well, I think the palette at least looks more underwater than the original game palettes did.
4: Eh, they probably would be, but then again who ever heard of walking on clouds in the first place?
5: The red spikes were an idea I had. I thought of bloody spikes but putting red on only part of them didn't work and I ended up making them totally red. Maybe I'll try some ExGFX.
7: The Bowling Ball is sprite A1 (I believe). I inserted it manually and then used the Super GFX Bypass to load the correct GFX file for the bowling ball. Easy.
8: Yeah I know. I'll play around with the patch again. And for the record, it's not that I saw them as wrong in Lunar Magic, It was that they were wrong in the actual game. As for the finding the offset, I need to read some stuff on hex first then I'll attempt it. But, it will change for he final version.
9: The branch GFX was custom made by me, so I'm not sure what you could be relating them to.

(like it says in the pic) Go to www.geocities.com

at the top it'll say Welcome, guest.
that's where you login. Use your Yahoo info.

then click where I pointed to and you should see a button that says Upload Files somewhere.

Easy Upload works too, you just have to make the name short and no spaces. and it has to be a zip for some reason.

Ew. Vista. Also: www.4shared.com.

Anyways, as for the hack... looks nice. I haven't seen the forest level though. My only complaint is that some of the levels look particularily... blocky. Did that just happen to be where you screenshotted them? If the entire level is that blocky... yikes.

Ok I got it uploaded on Geocities.

Super_Mario_Eternity.zip.

To Kles: That should just be coincidence. Though, it is hard to have anything but blocky levels when the majority are forest/castle/switch palace/ghost house levels. But there are some normal ones and the World 3 I've begun has plenty of hills and stuff.

I've been silently working on this for the past few weeks. Here's a new batch of screenshots.

First, Yoshi's Beachhouse. Nothing big, not even anything in the level except one message, but I figured I'd show it anyway.

This was posted in the General SS thread but I'm posting it here too. This is the Yoshi Cove. I'm also introducing multiple colors of Yoshis into my levels.

This is in the southern part of Yoshi Village. The southern village has no enemies in it and is small but you can explore some of the Yoshis' houses, like Purple Yoshi's house here.

This is the northern part of the village, where the Dino-Rhinos are attacking. The house is supposed to be the gatehouse. The fences are custom-made by me. (Just realized that there's palette inconsistency between this and the previous shot on the fences. I'll fix it later.)

This is inside the gatehouse. To get the key to unlock the northern gate, you need to find a springboard in another level. The pipe leads...

...To here. This is the second half of the level, with Dino-Rhinos and pipes. I still have to fix the Classic Pirhana Plant colors though.

The village's plumbing. You may remember this level from the old Secret of the Switch Palaces demo. I've majorly overhauled the outside area but the inside plumbing is largely the same.

Just another pic from an old level.

This is part of the main overworld. I'm creating it as I go along so all I have is World 3 and part of 4. The lower area is the beach and then the village is obviously where the houses are. Castle 3 is on the top right side of the green island, off-screen.

Ok, other than that stuff, I've got nothing. I'm splitting working on this with writing a story and reading comics at night.

The graphics could use some updating (no, I'm not suggesting that you use allstars graphics or the like) but I do like the overworld idea there. Not bad for a hack with the old graphics.

Wow, I'm not even gonna lie here: I was running out of ideas and you've just jump-started my inspiration drive. Yay, metaphors.

Really awesome. There's very few hacks I'd actually spend some time playing, and rest assured this is one of them. Great job, really.

Oh, wait...hell, I'm gonna go play the demo. That sounds like a good idea. ^^;...

When a hack has the words "The secret of ......" I really think that it indeed, has a mind-blowing, plot-twisting secret that the player never could've expected.
It really sounds like the game has nothing to with anything secret, so plan around that.

But judging from the screenshots, pretty creative.

Judging from the screenshots of post 1:
Screen 1:
Well, the level is a bit empty of enemies,But, I'll guess it'll do for now.

Screen 2:
Add a bit more variety to your enemies, just koopas won't work.

Screen 3:
I hate it when people do cornersthat are not rounded.

Screen 4:
Since when did you make the piranha red stem-ed?

Screen 5:
Too hard to see anything here, So I'll not give that screen anymore comments.

Screen 6:
Green palette, Eh? Well, that's a good, 'cause I like green!

Screen 7:
I can't seem to find the rolling ball. How did he put that into a regular level??

Screen 8:
Great challenge! I especially like those,
kind of levels.

Screen 9:
Wow. You need to make more of those kind of levels, they're awesome!

Screen 10:
Green BG!!!! (Yay.^^)

Second batch of SSs:
Screen 1:
It seems as if the brick ends are floating in mid-air, so you might want to fix it.

Screen 2:
A cyan Yoshi??? What is it supposed to do??

Screen 3:
Not much here, 'cept for a Yoshi a some coins, so not much to comment about this SS.

Screen 4:
Lol Dinos taking over a Dino's village.XD.Anyways, the palette of the fence looks a little wierd to me.

Screen 5:
Same as 4

Screen 6:
It looks a lot different from the first part.

Screen 7:
You should make some ExGFX for the pipe corners.

Screen 8:
N/A

Screen 9:
Looks like the island will sink, Good job anyways.
