stag019, really? Huh. Anyway... One of the most talented coders here, although rarely talks about his work. I got along with him alright. Last I heard, he was working on a new forum codebase. Which drew minor inspiration in user appearance from Acmlm-style boards, and was going to have a converter to import some.
Xkeeper? Long story. Despite joining barely a month after, I didn't hear of him until the Third Incarnation. It'd probably the unusual way he gained power which got my attention. Didn't think much of it, and ignored that. Things got weird on IRC this past April however. I'd flamed him a little. Didn't get seriously banned for that, but... I made a typo which distrupted too much and soon was k+b'd from #rohmacking. So I went to #rom-hacking. That's when Sliver-X (who is now banned on this board for trolling), immediately took an unreasonable hatred of me. He began to flame at what seemed like no end. Olaf also joined in, while Xk was sort of having fun with it to a lesser degree. Then later a few accounts, including mine, were stolen here. So I created an alternate name for the sole purpose of PMing staff to ask about it. That worked. But the board account was soon briefly banned and redirected to ||board by mistake. Got my access to this board and the chat room(s) back for good after talking with Xk on IRC. And this is where we started to get along better. Finding common opinions, like the distaste of trolls such as knuck. I don't know much about Xk's coding ability. He's very quick at enforcing and responding to the rules. However, sometimes acts oddly if things don't go as planned. ____________________  |

Basically, Xkeeper forged strong bonds with most of the intelligent, non-bullshitting posters here, so removing him from staff was probably the stupidest thing you could've done, especially for such a dumbass reason, "OH NOEZ XKEEPER DOESNT WANA BE MY FRIEND ANYMORE LETS TAKE AWAY HIS ACCESS SO HE CRIES LAWLZ" |

Wait, what? Are you retarded? Are you trying to say the whole reason this happened is because he's been trolling? Because, unless you don't get it, he's been trolling because nobody is doing anything about it. He's proving a point that, quite frankly, needs to be addressed, and Xkeeper was the one who did that addressing before he was ripped out of power. Believe it or not, Xkeeper was one of the sole things keeping this place stable. Yeah, he's not perfect, and he can have his odd moments (I'M LEAVING okay not maybe lol), but for the most part, he was firm, and he was consistent, and didn't let trolls and idiots take reign over this forum like they have for as long as he's been out of power so far. It's disgusting to look at, and people who generally come to the board for ROM hacking (such as myself), find it a major interference in terms of how we're able to enjoy the board. When I decide to click on the general chat forum for some... general chat, that's what I expect, not a bunch of trolls and idiots running around like they own the place. Sooner or later, you're going to realize just how much Xkeeper did for this place. Whoever knocked him out of power had no right - the "server admin" excuse doesn't work; if you don't like how he runs the board on your server, you kick him off, not take it over. I mean, what the fuck is that? Anyway, yeah. ____________________

I think I've stated my opinion enough times, but here it is again:
Xkeeper was a good admin, and a good coder. He was in *no way* "too strict" or "too harsh". He just enforced authority. I mean, I can understand anyone saying he's too strict if they come from a place where people can do absolutely anything at all and have no consequences or punishments resulting from it, ever, but that's not how this board functions. Since xk was removed from power, several permabanned people have been unbanned, we're suddenly without an admin who's quick to respond to things, and well, I think the results speak for themselves. The biggest issue with the decision is that the server admin just doesn't like xk. And of course, server admins have the ultimate rulings over everything, right? Edit: And yeah, you really don't know what you have until it's gone. I think that's the best analogy that applies here. ____________________  |
