just wondering what it's purpose is and how it works. aparently some of the tiles in the tilemap are changed, misaligning the GFX tiles. idk why this is needing or wanted at all, but i was just wondering. ____________________ |

Are you talking about that "Offsets per tile mode" thing which drives Tetris Attack? ____________________ |

I highly doubt that, BG3 is 4 colors only. ____________________ |

Posted by Dwedit Unless it has a crazy HDMA that goes beyond those 4 colors. ____________________ |

I had a closer look at it in the dev manual.
BG3's display limitations has nothing to do with it. BG3 is not displayed at all, it looks like it just uses the BG3 tilemap pointer to point to a set of scroll values for each corresponding tile on BG1/BG2 as defined in the 'tilemap' bytes that would normally be used for BG3 display. cory21391: A closer look on the mode is on page 208 on book1.pdf. |

and here iwas thinking it just changed the tiles' locations in the tilemap... sounds like an interesting (and time consuming) feature... I'll have to read up on it in the dev manual ____________________ |

I'd also recommend reading Anomie's Register Doc and looking up "Mode 2". The official manual is usually more confusing to read, and I use it as a backup source. ____________________ Zelda Hacking Forum hobbies: delectatio morosa |
