After a discussion between me, Acmlm, emuz and blackhole89 we decided to remove access of Xkeeper. Xk kept losing faith among us, and blackhole89, along with Acmlm decided to cut his access of the boards server space and database. Him trunctating the tables in both Acmlmwiki and Acmlmboard database only reinforced this (this is why we had a rollback on the board...).

As of now, we're planning a staff re-org. Applications will be judged by Acmlm, Emuz and me.

With four words? You could've done better.

As far as I'm concerned...
...the whole deal's whack.
Just...whack.

...what now?

I am very confused as of right now as to what is going on, but I hope things work out for the better. I'm trying to keep up with what's going on in IRC, but it's just moving to fast. D:

I do not see the point in this; this board is relatively small, and does not need more staff. What it needs is a real leader, which this sort of chaos has done nothing but prevent the existence of.

Personally, I would simply suggest finding a new, non-controversial person to run the board to fill the shoes of Xkeeper. If you have multiple staff, they are likely to conflict with one another, and as I have personally seen, if you're not all on the same side, it's gonna cause a mess.

But I will not waste space here if no one is interested in my opinion.

Pretty much, Xk knew he was gonig to get put out of power, so he decided to have fun before it happened, and the result is this.

Kinda funny how a board explodes because knuck joins an irc channel. Apparently that was the last straw.

Wouldn't four--oh, right, BMF's one. Kept thinking he was a full mod. So wouldn't five administrators be enough? It'd be like the "Dream Team", three really big-headed guys running in place.

Staff apps kinda puts me off... It'd be a lot like ROM Hacking approval. Why not just hand-pick members based on their performance? ... Still sounds shifty.

Maybe the staff can just stay as is. It seems to be pretty strong.

Heh. Though that didn't help this situation at all, at least he's gone.

What we need is 1 main admin, with maybe 2 co-admins. Obviously Acmlm won't be the main admin because within another week he'll pretty much stop caring (yet again), and bh doesn't want to be head admin. So we're stuck with BMF, Hiryuu, or someone else (Emuz?).

Small numbers of administration are bad. Lean staff leads to too few different opinions and too high chances of somebody's individual preferences taking over.

Sure, more staff makes decision-finding more difficult and slower, but it improves the impartiality... besides, most people would agree that the large staff put in place after Incarnation 2 did a good job.

As I had said to you many times, I was willing to leave quietly and planned to after I had my things sorted out and removed from the server.

But I knew this was coming. I secretly added a bomb... if I was allowed to leave peacefully within a few days, it would have been fine and you would continue on as you were, without what has happened.

I also knew blackhole89 took backups.

Ailure lied to me, as well, which only served to heighten my sense of what was coming. "blackhole89 is wiling to talk", "compromise", "he doesn't want it to end this way".

But it was all lies.

I had prepared myself to leave. I have (somewhat) secretly been taking backups of the wiki, board, and my own personal sect. I was going to take one more before I left to have a final backup, then I would leave and take my small side-community with me.

I am sorry it ended this way. I have seen retaliation from blackhole89, and his lies ("I will not override your decisions"), and more... I was an idiot to believe him.

I wish you the best of luck, but I am also sure this will repeat again. Until Acmlm either has full control or closes his community, people will use him as a scapegoat to get what they want. He never voices his opinon, so you can easily convince him otherwise.

As much as I know all of you are looking at me in an evil light, I can understand your opinion. I know how it feels.

All I have to say, is that I am disappointed in blackhole89, and Ailure. Ailure using constant threats to try to make me co-operate and not leave, blackhole89 going behind my back to do this...

I am leaving this community. You have made it overwhelmingly known that your staff, your new member base will not tolerate me.

I will take who I have on my side and leave. Those of you who are interested may join irc.acmlm.org #x for updates, because my current side community here was destroyed just as I destroyed yours.

So, for those of you who are tl;dr's:

Good luck with your new board, and most of all, welcome your new overlords. It's been a good six years. I only wish it didn't end this way.

Large staff can result in grouped up factions, and Incarnation 2 exploded.

I am curious as to more reasons why you think small administration numbers are bad. People who lean towards one person winning out shouldn't really be staff in the first place, unless they have complete control. Hence, for your idea of Acmlm's board, I can see why you deposed Xkeeper.

But more staff simply means more opinions, and thus the most popular opinion wins out. That's not so much impartial as it is rule-by-majority. I have seen these in place in many places. I worry for the effectiveness of this system. Unless, of course, you select for impartiality; then you could have something like the Supreme Court.

Tell me... you know some history, right? How did Incarnation 2's system crash to bring us here in the first place? I do not have quite as good a clue as you would. And as I said earlier, it worries me. I do not want the board to explode.... again.

But then again, Incarnation 3 ended in a massive unprecedented collapse of the community.

Honestly, I think what a message board really needs is one "benevolent dictator", one person who is the final say on everything and can not be challenged- the problem this community has had was that Acmlm played that role, but eventually went idle, causing the remaining admins, who are all theoretically equal, to have major disagreements that could not be easily resolved. So Xkeeper seems to have tried to take on the "benelovent dictator" role himself, but he didn't really have the total support Acmlm had (because Acmlm founded the community). So now we get the current situation, and Acmlm's long idleness has caused him to lose credibility as a leader of the community (whether this is true or not is debatable, but the view exists- just look at the discussions going on)... it's all a mess.

We all know that no matter how it ends, there'd probably be at least one person bitching complaining about how things went. It's a fact of the universe.

I, like most people, have problems remembering how stuff goes when it's going good. I think the group on this board seemed to do alright.

(My main memory about incarnation 2 was the constant complaints by Tomguy et al. about having their positions removed, until they were put back.)

It was even more fun when he gave the password to nobodysworld too when he stopped caring...

Leaving a bomb is a stupid idea and it's immature and it only made you look like a demon. Sorry Xkeeper, you didn't handle it any better than the people who you feel screwed you.

Having said that, what's the FULL story?

(Your Post)

Well...
Although it may not seem like it, I had respect for you. I didn't see you as an...overlord, but more like "guy who has college and fails in history". Or something like that.
Thing is, while we may not have liked each other at some point, I gave you respect, and I believed that to be enough.
If only...something...happened...then we could have a finished RPG. But now that progress has dropped, and everyone else should know about it, I think. After all, who was it that started the base coding? (If the real answer is different, then "Something Vile")

It is my way of attempting to gaurentee that I will have enough time to leave peacefully.

The idea is that, if both sides are peaceful, both sides will come out fine. But with this, if you attack, I can attack back.

I did not enjoy doing it. I held myself back from blowing it up immediately and leaving, because I wanted peace.

But it just goes to show you that no matter how you try, you can never have peace. Nothing works.

I have said my opinion. I am done with the community. I don't want to see it get run into the ground like the second board was, by too many staff and other horrible mistakes that were made.

The community has been falling, yes, but it always has been. I wish you people would realize this.

Grey> Ace, BH, and Emuz: permission to troll Xkeeper?

I like how you people call me immature, but you turn around and do this.

Forgive me, but I am chuckling at you. Welcome to the loop.
