Hey all. My family and I have been wandering all over Southern France for the past two weeks and have finnaly found a internet connection in Paris. I visited places like Aix-en-Provence, Les-Beax, Avignon, Menton, Cannes and Monaco/Montecarlo. It's been awesome so far. It was amazing to see how rich Monaco was compared to anywhere in the rest of the world. The country is loaded with money.
We're hoping to visit the cathedrals today and maybe the Lourve tomorrow. The worst thing so far on the trip is that I (stupidly) blew out my DS charger by plugging it into a French socket. I used an adapter but the 110/220 difference still blew the thing. I had to buy a DS car charger to charge it but with no car in Paris, I can't use it. At least I have internet again. I'll talk later. I gotta have breakfast. See ya. ____________________ |

Heh, I should try logging on the next time I go on my trips across America.
And... yeah. You need yourself a better converter to do things like that. |

That is a -consistent- failure of people going from the US to other places using PAL.
US uses 110/120V 60Hz. PAL countries use 220/240V 50Hz. Having a plug that allows a US plug to fit into a hole won't do it. :\ The convertors that are dual convert (50W - 1600W) usually run about 40 bucks. Reason you'd get a dual is because certain small devices (a DS) would run off the 50 and stuff like hairdryers would run on 1600W. I can't imagine them being cheaper in France. |

Also, PAL is a video standard, not an electrical one. ____________________ andrew sylvester dot com | retrogaming @ robot vaudeville |

Yeah, there's actually four standards:
110/120V 60Hz 110/120V 50Hz 220/240V 50Hz 220/240V 60Hz And they don't really correspond with the video standard used. ____________________ "I'd like to confuse bok choy with cabbage." |

I find it funny some people in Europe refer to their versions of handheld or PC games as PAL, since it's usually a misnomer in technical terms. Good thing software for such platforms is often region-free.
To think I've never even seen the Pacific Ocean. Its too far for binoculars. The Olympic Peninsula is between it and me. ____________________ |
