I posted this at SMW Central also. I'll copy what I said there

I kind of started this hack as more-or-less of a joke, but after playing with the OW music editor, I was truly inspired to turn it into something, knowing the possibilities of it.

There was a hack a long time ago based off of Mario vs. Donkey Kong where you had to get the key in each level to the keyhole. I forget who the creator was, but I know I commended him for doing it and thought it was interesting. He is long gone now, so I decided to try my hand at one.

The goal in each level is, obviously, get the key to the keyhole. Don't worry though .. the levels will be long, and they will challenge your brain .. I assure this hack will not be half-assed. Some features I've thrown in so far is ExGFX (obviously) customs events (hand-made because I can) and custom music (no .. really?)

Below are four screens. Enjoy.

The first overworld, which contains 8 or 9 levels. I'm debating whether to use the Rose Way theme or Toad Town theme for it .. opinions would be lovely.

Legato Highland. Creative name, eh? The special purple blocks will prove an annoying obstacle when you play the hack.

Legato Shrine. The first real level where you need to use your brain. Expect some interesting challenges.

Cobalt Pond, a secret level. You will need to traverse through the water avoiding urchins and stuff. Hooray. The backgrounds a gradient, I'm just currently up high, That's why it's solid blue

I'll release a demo after the first world, and I'll see what the interest in it is like. And yes, before I get rants, I will be adding more backgrounds and custom sprites.

Comments are welcome.

Dude, that's sick. I loved Mario vs. Donkey Kong. The key theme was great. I was using that for my Special World. Your levels look pretty good. I really dunno how to get that "name of the level on the top of the screen thing" to work, I'll mess with it. I really like Legato Shrine ^^

From those screenshots, it looks pretty nice. The pun is great too.
I'm looking forward to this hack.

Looks good. I like the OW.
Rose Way for the OW sounds better for me.

Ahhhh, It just relives the time of Mario vs Donkey kong 2. I'm really looking forward to this hack. =)

S.N.N, I believe this is the hack you're referring to.

Looks nice, BTW.

The thing I liked about Mario VS. Bowser is that the levels were short and sweet. Where this seems to be going is just a standard Super Mario World hack with standard everything, except with keys instead of goals.

Actually asdf, you're right. The first world is rather short, but I had actually planned on making the levels longer.

However, there are a wide variety of puzzles I could do so it wouldn't have to get longer, only harder. We'll see

This looks like it could turn out really well - I'm looking forward to trying this out. It'll be nice playing a hack that looks more puzzle-based than "just get to the end of the level while avoiding enemies."

I still think 'Frosties' sounds a whole lot better.

I mean..uhh...it's quicker to say!

And Donkey Kong '94 is one of my favourite games of all time, so it's great to see a SMW hack using the same ideas/format.

I remember a similar hack.

However, this is far more interesting.

Interesting. Nice touch with the level name at the top of the screen.
