While I agree that people, even me, could of acted more maturely, the change was sudden, would things have been different if this was introduced differently?
Probably not. That would not only cause the spamming to continue when it started, but also add to the obligatory "IN BEFORE ANONYMOUS CHANGE" threads everywhere.

The only people that should have gotten any heads up would be rom hacking, since some of them do absolutely no posting outside those forums.

- Adding support for one-post-only anonyminity in forums like Femine's Corner is a similarly bad idea.
That's the particularly tragic problem, I'd have to say. Although wouldn't it be possible to allow people to PM an admin for approval for an anonymous post? Would hopefully give the desired protection (Sorry Drag, but I have to look at you for that one), while not allowing the capability for anonymous assholery.

Indeed, some people do deserve to be banned but I wouldn't blame everyone for being silly. I mean, I been in lots worse spamming than this in the past, but those events are looked up as some kind of golden age. :/

The question is what qualifies as just simple spreeing, and what qualifies as actual bannable offenses.

I'm rather sure there's a difference, at least. For one thing, the simple spreeing doesn't involve constant flaming and filling every. part. of. the. board with spam.

Look at the last couple sprees, for instance. The Danielle one was one thread. The one before (if I remember right) that was 3 threads, of which 1 was killed early.

EDIT: Added in the relevant quote. Sorry for my constant editing today.

What about anonymity in femine's corner, but with the ability for a staff member to see who it is?

That gotta weed out most of the abuse at least. :/

The problem with the Anonymous fiasco lies in that anonymity is viewed by a majority of the Internet as synonymous to /b/, and therefore when they see everyone is anonymous, they think that entitles them to act like /b/tards and spam to their hearts' content. Such is the extent of the human power of suggestion.

It got a lot of people to show their true colors and I approve of the after-bans: this could prove to be a useful tool to weed out the idiots from the reet of the board populace.

I believe Blackhole summed the general reaction up quite nicely.

That being said, I think a lot of people are taking this too seriously :|

All along I realized that the usernames would come back in time and that every post would be logged. I mean if every edit post can be seen, why not Anonymous posts? Knowing this, I decided to not be an ass because I knew there would be reprecussions. The only thing I did was create one thread in fish but it's really not half as bad as the rest of the crap that went on here.

All this said, I enjoyed today. It was interesting to say the least.

I don't think the obvious concern would be that the usernames would reappear. After all, Xkeeper said HOW many times that he could still tell who was who, and that he could and would ban people.

Dumb question: What does /bcm mean?

Looks like 3 bans happened because of it. Sonicandfails, Jeshua, possibly Valcion (his name is no longer in the memberlist).

It was funny how I managed to scare the idiots away from the "This place worse than ||bass land" thread by cursing 4chan.

Perhaps the "4chan syndrome" can be reversed?

Valcion isn't banned (yet).

Crud. I´m confused aboout who did what to deserve to be banned. Not that it matters much, though.

I was too tired to care about this mess when I got home.

/bcm is Ragnarok Online GM for "broadcast message".

That was someone else. Valcion is still here.

Well, I only posted a little bit during the experiment. It's not that I would have acted stupid or anything (in fact, the exact opposite), but it's more like 'sit back, relax, and watch the fireworks' type of thing.

Same here, except for a little posting around in fish on my part.

As soon as I saw the thread Sonicandfails made I had a hunch that it was him who had posted it. I also think that he had a ban coming at some point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you already close to banning him Xkeeper?

Honestly, this probably didn't do a lot if much for people.

In fact, this whole ordeal came out to be a practical annoyance. I strayed from posting because I didn't want to deal with it.

Then again, it's this way when people have their genders changed from male to female. You people bitch about the stupidest things sometimes.

You're right. We all ask for events like this to happen but when they do we bitch about it because it's not always favorable. "My name is pink now I'm mad!" Whoop-de-doo. Get over it; you can always change it back.

I remember once when we were all changed to cat names. I wasn't mad, but I posted a thread because it made me wonder lol

All I know is people are riveted to consistency. Any change in their life and it's a 'whoooooooooop ZOMG 180 WTF'. This proves that concept better than anything. There are some people that can take change and go 'this is change, it might not be good or it might be' and deal with it.

The day some psycho madman creates a global genderbender bomb is the day the world ends.

The sad part is, it'd probably also be the funniest day ever
