Well I've played it now.

Encounter rate does seem higher than normal.
Red outlines because cave is dark and you can't see anything yet (need flash for that), I think the original game did that too but it's been so long I don't remember.
I would say more but I bumped the reset key and don't want to restart after going through that damn cave .

You should just go through it again, just keep running and you'll be out in a few minutes.

Wow I'll be sure to give it a try eventually sometime soon.

Reading that last part you said about:

"I hope you all enjoy it, this hack's been in production since 2004, and hopefully I can actually make the final verison before the year 2072"

Sure made me "lol" ....That's the way I feel about my megaman 3 hack that i started august 2005 ....but I don't think I'll be finished with it until sometime 2010 or later. ...Seriously!

Don't worry you two. You'll get them done. Hell, I've been working on Chorus of Mysteries well over a year now, and it's almost ready. I'm not real into Pokemans, but this sounds pretty promising.

I've been playing now, and I'd like to say it's really cool and good so far. I like it. Up to that Olixas city place currently.

But I do have 1 minor nitpicky thing to say. I was just wondering, when you mentioned that there's some pallete issues....i hope it's concerning how some menus and the battle menu is black and yellow .....well i mean I hope that is not a permenant change ....
The black and yellow just doesn't fit at all, I really perfered the regular white and black like all the games were....
you're not keeping the black and yellow right? ..or are you ??

make the red clothes redder and the orange clothes more orange...
and I want to know if you'll be able to get the 3 johto starters anywhere, you have to have those in the game
and I can't really tell the difference between the tall grass and no grass in the blue place

That sounds like my smw hack. Started way back in 2001... At least it has a decent reception from players.

The original game did not do that. The player's normally completely visible, while everything else is completely dark. You could see wall outlines in RBY, but not in GSC.

At least, this is what I remember.
Using a Super GameBoy or GB Tower in Pokemon Stadium to play RBY made the walls appear very faintly.

Probably a palette issue. GSC and SuperGB had the advantage of palettes, and Stadium could implement hacks. Setting the tile palettes to all black would have worked, but made it impossible to read menus and dialogue.

Yeah, no matter where you went in Gold, your sprite and others stayed the same color. I did that "dark effect" on purpose, where it just shows the outline of the sprite instead of it in full color. In dark areas the sprites are also darker than normal, the way it should be.

As for everyone else, thanks for the honest comments, I'll be fixing most of them in the next beta. (Less encounter rate in the first cave, text colors reverted, Orange more "orange" etc.)

Heres some new shit I've been working on. Apartments / Houses

Heres the outside of the apartment complex in one of the cities in the next beta.

What are you trying to do? You don't live in this apartment.

So you don't get lost.

This NPC will sell you an available apartment.

Heres the menu of the apartments available. If you purchase an apartment, you'll be given a key, which will let you enter that apartment number. If you buy another key however, it will take away your old key and apartment, but don't worry, the NPC will warn you about that in case you forget.

Inside apartment 2!

You'll be able to purchase new dolls, win some in a contest, and be given some as prizes. Try to collect 'em all.

Each house will have special features. One of Apartment 2's special features is a slot machine, with slightly better odds than the ones in the regular casinos. However I have much more planned for this apartment and others.

The apartments in this city have two floors. I haven't finished mapping the upstairs so I won't show it to you yet.

Also, the joys of Music editing. Can anyone guess which game this music was originally from? http://www.sendspace.com/file/ncsq3l

I'm posting the first post again until the cite thing gets fixed.

Update: Download the Beta
Notes: Some graphics/palette glitches
Title screen is not completed.

Ever get tired of the endless amount of crappy Pokemon hacks with seven tiles per map changed and a few text changes, then the author claims they are a 'master hacker'? Well this should be a breath of fresh air, hopefully.

Pokemon Prism (Origionally called Pokemon Bronze) is a hack of Pokemon Gold, and the sequel to Pokemon Brown, which can be downloaded here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/134/. It is a complete overhaul of the original game. However, Prism will be a vast improvement over Brown. I'll be releasing a beta on June 6th, which will only be up to the first Gym, but will have plenty to show!

Features:
- Brand new region of Naljo (bigger than Johto)
- Return of the region of Rijon (Areas were taken away in Kanto in Gold, Rijon in Prism will have all areas).
- Over 400 new maps (Gold had 368). Each and every map has been changed completely.
- Seven new types. (Wood, Gas, etc.)
- New TM/HM set
- PLENTY of script changes.
- All the Wild Pokemon sets trainer's Pokemon sets have been changed completely
- New Pokedex order (Naljo), with National Dex
- Almost all of the text changed
- Lots of other things that are different from the original product (Yes, in a Pokemon hack, shocking isn't it?)
- Additional tilesets
- And much more!

Heres a couple of Screenshots: (Graphics are a work in progress)

I hope you all enjoy it, this hack's been in production since 2004, and hopefully I can actually make the final version before the year 2072. I suppose a beta's better than nothing.

Is it just me... or are all the Pokemon male? I swear I haven't seen a single female Pokemon since I began playing the beta...

That is hilarious...

This hack looks quite impressive... I would try it, but I don't have a GBC emulator or ROMs on this computer...

I already figured out the cause of the glitch, and fixed it.

Looks good; only "problem" is the occasional spelling error. Other than that, it's A+ material.

Dumb question, but just wondering what you're using to edit the game? A few minutes of searching for G/S editors only brings up a GoldMap and a G/S Sprite editor. Is that all you're editing with?
