Well, I was going to make a screenshot thread of my hack when 1-5 was finished but since board II is up, I figure I might as well celebrate by making the thread sooner. Here's some screenshots of the progress I made so far.
Playing YI for DUMMIES 1-1: The Basics 1-2: Fun with Platforms 1-3: Beware of Nep-Enut 1-4: Burt's Forsaken Fort And now, I present you with 1-5! 1-5: Dinosaur's Best Friend Poochey makes his first appearance in this hack. The name of the level should have given away the theme of this level. There he is already waiting for you. Poochey can easily climb up those flight of horizontal platforms to the top of the hill. Be quick, you don't have much time with those P-blocks. Luckily, the P-block section isn't a very long one so you better take Poochey with you to the other side. If you manage to reach this place, another Poochey is waiting for the player. That's all the screenshots for now. I'll post more here when I'm finished with 1-5. I've finished half of 1-5 so they should appear in a little while. After that, then I'll post my screenshots in the General Project Screenshots Thread. |

On a minor side note, am I the only one who is profoundly annoyed by Chomp Rock? That was the one part of Yoshi's Island I absolute cannot stand. After many tries going back to the game, Chomp Rock always ruins it for me |

One of these days I'm going to have to really finish the original YI.. that is, so then I can go and play one of these neat looking hacks for it.. |

Posted by Gideon ZhiI can probably name a quite few more things annoying with YI that is more annoying than Chomp Rock. And remember that I think YI is the best platformer to be released so far. Interesting to see Poochey around though. It's a shame he appears for only... three times in the game? ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Yeah, I think it's only three for Poochey - unless theres a part in world 5 or 6 I'm forgetting
Anyway, screens look great fabio. Nice palette in 1-5 with the bushes and such, it flows together nicely. In the last screen - and for all crossections - I recommend using the "Side of crossection" item in EggVine to make holes. You will then be able to add coins/egg blocks/etc. Not only that, it will give them more detail Good job so far! ____________________ Want custom overworld music in your SMW hack? Download this. An ETA? I have no clue when this will be finished or when the demo is finished. I'm only going to release 1 demo and that is it. After World 2 is finished, I'll release the demo. For now, I can't give you an ETA.
@S.N.N.: I'll see if I can make some room for some detail in that cross-section. I've used all of my object data bytes and I didn't expand it. I know I'm going to add some detail in the second area of 1-5 because I plan on expanded some other room so that it can hold 1,000 bytes worth of object data. |

Posted by S.N.N.Heh, it's like Kuribo (or Goomba) shoe in SMB3. Sadly SMW2 didn't sell that much in compersation (The GBA version sold more apparently...). Hmm, also this hack does remind me that there hadn't been any other editor than eggvine. Maybe I make a open source YI editor one of thoose days. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Oh goodie another YI hack, my favorite game, I am so happy, please continue the work. As the screens say it will be a great hack. Meanwhile I continue re-creating the game in gamemaker... |

Woah, awesome. YI hacks are becoming more and more prominent, which is mad awesome because I like YI better than SMW...the Nep-Enut level looks particularly sweet. The only issue I have is my 2-1 looks a bit similiar to your 1-2: it's called "Zoom, Zoom, Zoom!" and it's a platformer level with the same background I'll do my best to make it as different from your level as possible.
Can't wait for the demo |

*bump*
Yeah, it took longer than I thought. Most of the time I worked on it was last week because of Spring Break. The rest of the time, I was too busy with school to make any progress. Onward to the new screenshots. 1-5: Dinosaur's Best Friend (2nd section) Since 1-5 was pretty short, I had no other choice but to use level expansion on another room. Fun Fact: This section was originally a Lantern Ghost pipe room but I completely changed into a new level. Besides, why do I need a Lantern Ghost pipe room for anyway? Poochy waits for you on that bottom section when you first reach the second section. Probably one of the tricker parts of the level. There are some goodies in those poundable logs. Problem is that those Tap-Taps are in the way. If you attempt to ground pound when the log hasn't been pounded yet, you may touch one of the Tap-Taps and will get hurt. Also, Poochy loves jumping over those logs and if you happen to ground pound when Poochy jumps, you may end up getting hit by the Tap-Taps as well. Much easier to get by if you have Poochy with you. It's possible to do it without him but it does take longer. Generic bonus room. You probably wondering why I added the wall and bouncing arrow? The problem is Poochy turns into some garbled graphics when you win the bonus on the goal ring. Thanks to S.N.N. for helping me out with that one. That's not all, I have bonus screenshots of 1-6 too! 1-6: The Bat Cave The level's name is a pretty obvious reference. QUICK, TO THE BAT CAVE!!!! Here's the bat cave. It's obviously incomplete for now. These are the last screenshots I'll be posting in this thread. Once 1-6 is finished, I'll start posting them in the General Project Screenshot Thread just like before. |

You really seem to have put alot of thought into these levels fabio. I cant wait to play this. Great job. By the way, are you planing on hacking every level? Will your hack have the same amount of levels as the original? |

Posted by AlexAR Pretty much. Every level in the game including the extra levels will be completely different by the time I'm finished with it. However, there will still be 54 levels just like the original game. |
