Why not? Let us reopen this. First off, let me address a few points: 1. Condenscending post that is whiny and bitchy about people being whiny and bitchy? lollerskatesz 2. Rating systems are inherently stupid. This was an indie game and your "not so depressing" or whatever that means game is not on the same scale. Remember, please, to frame arguments in their proper place. 3. Another put-down in a post urging people to "grow up" followed by an immature self-declaration of what you would prefer and giving a perfectly legitimate, if not slightly derailed, thread the boot to a "closet" So, basically this thread has a few points I would wish to make. First off, the game was designed to basically be a troll of epic proportions. It is failing at that because it lacks the originality of some "shock games" like SCMRPG or whatever that was. It had a point, this game does not really illustrate anything. It is just a poorly constructed sim with very bad taste. Secondly, it needs to be said that just because you are discomforted with a thread and its content that does not mean that it should be moved to a forum where it is vastly irrelevant to the topics being discussed there. However, since this thread was unfairly relegated to the wrong part of the board I suppose that is something that can be addressed. Also, Too Long by Daft Punk off of Discovery is a great song. And Aroma is a great coffee bar. edit: forgot title |

How did you manage to say what I wanted to say so nicely? I thank you for a job well done. I mean, I love being demeaned by someone who doesn't seem to have even read the thread... but rather chose to just skim over and place generalizations on everything that was said. At worst it was derailed, at best it was a decently interesting conversation. I can see justification for it being closed, but not for the pointless insults. I find it hard to even being dissecting what Hiryuu said. I mean, from the "emo" comment (I loved that one)... to calling people in the thread "pathetic"... to informing us we need to "grow up"... it's just a mess of bullshit. Easily avoided if he'd stay out of a thread he obviously had no interest in. ____________________  |

Except GTA doesn't make light of any specific massacres or events in the real world.
This game is probably by someone from 4chan's /b/. The VTECH JUST KICKED IN YO stuff is pretty much the same as on the billboard on the middle of the campus in the game. I can't say I was really disgusted with playing the game. Why? Because it's not realistic. After you start shooting you can still talk to the girls and they offer to blow you. I mean... that's just absurd. Second, it felt like more of a mockery of the killer than of the tragedy in general. Every time you fail at a "mission" it makes fun of Cho. So for a troll attempt, it's not a very over the top one. I actually found myself enjoying the game. Why? B/c it has well defined goals and it's easy to pick up and play. And before you ask how I could enjoy a game that parallels a cold blooded massacre, I have no idea. I almost didn't click on it, but my sense of curiosity for offensive things is overwhelming sometimes. Looking at it from an "IRL" point of view, which is different from my internet point of view, it's in incredibly bad taste and if someone who was affected by the VTECH massacre saw it, they'd undoubtedly be very sad and angry. Sometimes people who think that anonymnity on the internet means they can do whatever they want, even if it might seriously offend someone. (And sometimes people do it on purpose, as in this case.) But I guarantee if there was no internet, and this game had to be published somehow, it would never see the light of day. Because then people would know your name, and know what a heartless uncaring bastard you are. It is stupid, that is it. I am not outraged over it, I just find it stupid. It's one of those things that I see, I say, "Not that surprising, idiots" And move on. It was made to make people angry and get attention, it deserves to be ignored. It makes fun of a tragedy, a very sad and devastating one, but all it is is a retard's cry for attention, it should be buried along with many other things into the bowels of the internet. It shouldn't really get people angry about it, but I can understand where those offended are coming from. However, being offended is just playing right into this moron's hands. ____________________ There are things I want to put here. I could pretty much copy and paste what he said but that would be a little bit of a waste of time.
So let's start from the top and work down: Ziff: Was that even close to necessary or were just intending to piss me off? You knew full well that I felt that thread to be a dumb and irritating case of 'lollercopters' that should have been ignored. The reason I gave that edit was to create a new thread in a forum like this, which you did and I have no problem with that. Troll-baiting me, on the other hand, is -not- something I'm going to tolerate. I don't exactly know what you want to prove, but I don't really care. Death: Would you just shut up? I didn't ask if you thought I had no interest in such a thing...in fact, I did have a bit of interest in say that 'oh wow...thread about this...hmm...you know what...the people that did this are stupid and it's sad'. I did show an interest just like any other thread I clicked. You telling me, a person on a board staff, to keep my head out of a thread is...well...dumb. I mean what do you expect me to do when I see a thread that has certain things in it that are questionable? Ignore it? If you're not happy with that, I believe you need to get over it and yourself. That all said, I don't really care what you guys bitch, complain or debate about so long as it's in its proper forum. Hate me all you want, but that's really a valid point and one that I was attempting to make. The mentality of the thread, however, was going downhill with each post. That is why I said that if you guys wanted to take something like this seriously, you could try again in the debate forum. I don't really have time to play babysitter, but it looks like every so often I have to type one of these expositions and it is getting old. I don't have the time to tell you guys to 'grow up' anymore. I have two jobs and barely time to care what the hell someone said on an internet forum. If you have a problem with me, track me down and beat the hell out of me and/or say something to my face. I could really care less otherwise. Otherwise, it's just mass-banning. That's much simpler for me. It's less excess bull I have to take care of while waiting for paychecks to come in to pay off bills that allow me to go home and type out this text just to say 'stfu'. Back on topic, eh?
Look, I liked this board for a long time because there were interesting people that were fun to talk to. We could be asses, attack each other, but there were rarely, if ever, hurt feelings or anything along those lines. Over the past couple of months I have seen a lot of stuff happen to this community. I have seen it go through hard times. I have seen it go through good times. I think this is one of the worst times that it has faced. I have stood alongside this board, bored and disenfranchised, because I was drawn by people that (if the conditions permitted) would have probably made fairly good friends. Unfortunately, I do not feel that this board is a community anymore. Xk, I chose to continue on this board because the majority of the people I found fun to waste my time with were here. But continuously we have been disappointed by the lack of progress on the concept of leadership on this board. The community is basically a broken one - to the point that it cannot be fixed. Perhaps I am getting too old to sit around on a message board devoted to hacking Super Mario World. Perhaps I am too bitter. Perhaps I just do not get this joke. But I am absolutely sick and tired of the pomposity and lacking integrity of the board. So, in summary Reviewing: I enter a thread where this a bunch of pretentious nothing going on and machismo. I laugh at it. People retaliate. Thread is closed in a really poor decision lacking thought. I reopen the thread with righteous indignity of the previous ruling and the language used. Hiryuu comes in and basically acts the part of a very poor administrator. Xk comes in and basically acts the part of a child. Again, peace out. PS: Koryo, you're the new me. |
