So a friend of mine who lives on the same floor I do wants to know...
Does anyone (in general) do any NGage homebrew? He's thinking about starting to use his NGage again.

.... that would imply that people bought NGages. I think he's lying about having one.

Joking aside, a quick google search reveals that there does appear to be some homebrew, but it doesn't seem like there's a concentrated community or communities that do it.

Nah, he's telling the truth. (That's him in the picture. He's registered here as "xeno". Hi Xeno!)

Doesn't the NGage use Java for it's games? I vaguely recall reading that somewhere, anyway...

I thought it did too. He's learning Java, maybe that's why he's interested.

I already know Java, and I don't really think it's a good platform to base a *game* system around... Java isn't really made for games, nor is it the best choice for a language to make a game in. At least in my opinion.

Well, apparently the NGage operating system is just a cell-phone OS Nokia had developed before the system. That's also why the screen is vertical rather than horizontal, because the OS wasn't configured for horizontal screens.

Erh. NGage does read Java, but also its own formats.
A popular application for Ngage is vSun, a Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulator.
You can also find vBoy, vNes, YewNes, PicoDrive and some other emus too if you Google hard enough.

For further reference, check this page.

Thanks, Raccoon Sam. I just hadn't had any luck finding much of anything to do with other ngage stuff. As far as original games goes though, I guess there isn't really anything. I think there should be cave story for it.

That'd actually make sense.
But I'd rather play the upcoming DS port rather than Ngage.
Ngage's control pad is too clumsy.

(off topic rant)
Wahhh... Thats sorta' funny, I was just day dreaming in study hall of a Cave story on DS. Is this true?

(on topic pointless post)
I know a guy who would like this Emu stuff for Ngage. He can't really find any good games for it so I think he would enjoy playing some SNES with it.
