Okay, I'll admit, this sounds like SUCH a noobish question, but I really need to know...

Has any data for Mario vs. Donkey Kong been previously found? I'd love to make an editor for the game, but I'm quite sure I'll need data on the game. I'm not afraid to try to find out some data myself, but I'd still like to know if any data has already been found in the game, just in case... If there has, may I please see it?

Thanks in advance. And sorry if this IS a noobish question.... I'm SO obsessed with this game....

To be honest, I'd much rather see some sort of data for the original Donkey Kong 94' on the Game Boy.

It's superior to the Mario vs Donkey Kong sequel in almost every single way, and the level data is probably a lot less complicated. I remember working on it a couple of years back, but didnt carry on with it that much.

Well, I'm sure I could make an editor for THAT... Any data from it I could use?

...Heck, maybe I could find a way to be able to edit BOTH.... I mean... I like both games very much... (Here's how I see it: DK '94: Better gameplay. MvsDK: Better music. XD)

Thanks, though.

Quoted for epic truth.
I have a foggy memory in my mind of someone posting primitive level data collections, but then again I don't know if it's just me. :\

Nonetheless, If anything should be put effort into, then definitely DK94.
With MvsDK having probably assloads of compressions and difficult routines, as opposed to the simple (Well yeah, no game level data is simple) DK94 level format.

In fact, I'll take a look at it right now.

Donkey Kong 94 is ownage, I'd love to see an editor for this game too. I still play it from time to time when I'm stuck with one of my hacking projects.

Actually, the GB one would probably be compressed, as the GBA has so much more room that can be wasted(aren't most of the graphics in MvsDK uncompressed?), and the stages in it are probably simpler as they don't have BG tiles that in the GBA version are a background layer/s.

Better music? Half the samples were jacked from Roland Sound Canvas (aka default Windows MIDI sounds)

The original kicks far more ass of course. I would be upset if someone made a MvsDK editor instead...

First person to make a MvsDK editor gets raped by a giant bear.

And yeah, I noticed while playing that the samples were the same as the MIDI ones. Which is just pure laziness on Nintendo's part.

Yep, heaven forbid we get an editor for a game that is awesome in its own way instead.

Well, in my opinion, Mario VS Donkey Kong would be awesome if it was just a stand-alone game. But the original Donkey Kong '94 came out more than 10 years before, and was superior in nearly every way.

Including some graphics, sadly. I hate that pre-rendered crap that they use, unless do it well like in Donkey Kong Country.

I would much more support a Donkey Kong '94 editor, as compared to a Mario Vs. Donkey Kong one.

Yeah, I've never actually seen much pre-rendering work done well other than the DKC series. Usually, I feel it just clashes with the rest of the graphics (like in mvsdk).

And yeah, agreed about the editor. If an editor existed for '94, I'd be motivated to create a hack much more.

I'm not disagreeing with the quality statement here at all, but the fact remains, an editor is an editor.. And the hacking community is all about changing things and improving upon what sucks or what is boring, so meh? I can't see a good reason to discourage someone from making an editor for this game if they're genuinely interested in doing so. (Course, there was nothing wrong with suggesting '94 instead, but there are less pushy ways to do that.)
