The Bob-Bomb Mafia was a really amazing hack; It has everything I want all in one hack. The weapons, and custom monsters were great too, and it was really challenging in the last battle against the mafia boss, but yet fun as well. definitely a 10/10; it really shows what lazy shell is capable of, and it really inspires me to learn more about it. ____________________ Time heals all wounds.. but so does a couple pain killers, anti-depressants, and some hard core metal. |

v3.3a has been released. Changes are detailed in the original post.
Several bugs were discovered and many fixes were made. You can now also edit the subtile values in the Sprites editor, thus I will now strongly recommend dumping any older versions in favor of this one. Trust me, anything older is crap compared to v3.3a as this editor has become near immaculate by now. I realize the constant releases and updates can be annoying, but understand that I am the only person working on this editor as Omega has moved on to bigger things. I cannot invest any time with in-depth experimenting anymore like I did with the bobomb mafia hack and now just resort to random playing around with the features when I get bored. I am grateful for users like kogami and spelwerdzrite who spot bugs and offer new feature suggestions which help me perfect the programs functionality. Thanks to all who have contributed since the first release of this program nearly 4 years ago, as it would not have reached this stage without your feedback. |

Namely, the maps listed in this wiki: http://tcrf.net/Super_Mario_RPG:_Legend_of_the_Seven_Stars
I know Giangurgolo used some of them in his Bob-omb Mafia hack, such as the forest and sewer areas--they are obviously not in the official game. Is there an .ips somewhere that I can use to view them first-hand? Should I find Mattrizzle and bother him instead? |

Thanks, but I kind of want everything in its untouched form. I only referred to the Bob-omb Mafia to indicate what I was looking for.
I'm mostly interested in the maps which have only physical properties, such as the "mountain" and the "prison" areas. I'd like to try tilemapping them. |

it may just be me, but this hack seems exactly like the original game. Go look at the bob-omb mafia. now that, even as short as it was, was a great hack! |

Earlier in Lazy Shell's releases, before version 2.3, giangurgolo included a file in the releases called "Hacking Guide.doc" which outlined what he believes is the best possible way to create a hack, and what he most likely did when creating MAFIA2.zip>The Bob-Omb Mafia and/or OFFEREZEPS, the flagship and demonstration hacks resepectively.
However, in the most current versions of Lazy Shell, he did not include Hacking Guide.doc, and I believe it contains wonderful tips and a streamlined basic outline for any hack wanting to make a hack, as well as pointing out that some people don't want to make full hacks and just want to mess around with some stuff (being most of the hacks on here.) Below is the entire document excerpted from the file itself. However, if you want the document itself on your computer for use whenever you would like, you can download it in his website or Extract it from this .zip of Lazy Shell version 3.2b. Below is the document. Be reminded that this document is slightly out of date on features, but most of it retains to what is correct. -------------------------------------------------------------- LS complete hacking guide This guide was made with the intention of creating a complete hack. If you just want to edit monster stats, dialogues, and palettes, go ahead. Just remember to do them in the order that they appear in this guide, or it will become confusing. If you plan to create a full hack, use this ordered sequence guide to do it otherwise I guarantee it will get very very confusing and time consuming. Do not waste precious hours getting headaches and neck aches because of a poorly thought out hacking strategy. I wrote this because I hope anyone else who has an unquenchable desire to hack this game to pieces will not have wasted hours and hours trying to figure out what went where, getting frustrated, etc. Of course, you can avoid all of this by remembering that there’s always the option of not doing any of this at all. Most individuals simply want to play around with the editor for a little while, and not invest countless hours into something which offers little in return other than being an outlet for creativity. Unlike other mediums, though, remember that ROM hacking probably won’t yield any revenue. Unless there’s the rare occasion that someone might become involved with an electronic gaming studio as a result of gained experience from using this editor. It is highly recommended to use existing elements and modify those instead of creating something entirely from scratch. Base the hack off of sprites, items, and monsters that already exist in the game with the intention of modifying those items. If you want a poison-protection item for example, use Antidote Pin and rename it later after everything else is done. Use existing sprites and change their palette using the “COLOR MATH” feature as an easy suggestion. Use existing level maps, or even use one of the several dummied ones that are already drawn. Also, before all of this, take notes using the notes database feature or use a word processor to catalogue all of the levels, events, monsters and dialogues you want to create. If this seems is a waste of time you have no idea how much time you will waste trying to keep everything organized without notes, eventually being forced to either give up or start taking notes. Also consider the event memory addresses you will need, and assign each bit an event completion (example: Terrapin guards in level #4 are defeated). Even if you don’t think you will need to check it, do it anyways. There’s plenty of memory addresses available. Here’s the editing sequence I recommend you follow (there might be a better one, but this one should make the task much simpler and quicker): 1. Levels (drawing or modifying the actual level)
2. Levels (drawing the physical field)
3. Levels (exits)
4. World Maps
5. Levels (NPCs)
6. Levels (overlaps)
7. Sprites (dialogues)
8. Event Scripts
(It may not be buggy anymore.) 9. Levels (NPCs)
10. Levels (events)
11. World Maps
12. Sprites (sprites)
13. Stats (formations)
14. Event Scripts
15. Stats (monsters)
16. Stats (items, shops)
17. Battle Scripts
18. Animation Scripts
19. Sprites (spell effects)
Anything else (like the other stuff in the stats editor such as starting stats, shops, or items) you should edit after everything else. —giangurgolo --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anything written in this guide is all giangurgolo's work, and I hold no rights, credit, or claim to his work. He and Omega did a wonderful job with the editor and this guide is no exception. Last edit: Made it with lists, and more HTML thingies. Should look goodlike now. ____________________ Introduction to The Lazy Shell Editor (youtube) Super Modify RPG's Youtube Channel. |

MAFIA23.zip>Click here to download it.
You can also watch a walkthrough video of the hack in 3 parts: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Version 2.3 of The Bob-omb Mafia hack has been released. This is a much improved version over 2.0 which itself was infinitely superior to the awful mess that was v1.0 (v1.0, I'm afraid, has permanently scarred the reputation of the hack). There are no new monsters or areas, but many changes have been made. Changes from v2.2 include a new title screen, a switch that needs to be hit in order to access Baba Yaga's room, and a minimum of 3 instead of 5 battles with Radish. The following brief description is straight from the game's script:
In other words, this hack is both easier to play and faster to complete. The player will not have to guess what must be done next, because v2.3 places roadblocks to certain areas as a means of guiding them to where they need to go next (ie. a more linear storyline). Certain items must be acquired to enter new areas, and the difficulty of the monsters in these areas should reflect the player's current level. The final boss, however, is of the same level of difficulty as in v2.0 but still not impossible (in fact, quite easy with enough Bane Bombs, Ice Bombs, Red Essences and Power Blasts). Some item rewards have been switched around and/or changed as a way to sustain a balanced level of difficulty. A couple of items were added to the town shop, and two bugs I noticed in v2.0 were fixed: you can no longer run away from the green/blue wigglers, and you cannot skip the radish by jumping over it using a flashing dog as a platform. This hack also includes tile and solidity mods in the main town area for the three locked doors. That means the mod feature in Lazy Shell works without crashing.
I would also like to emphasize a side quest, which was present in v2.0 as well, as a way of leveling up really fast and providing an infinite supply of Red Essences. If you can manage to donate 2000 coins to the first gardener in the plains area and re-enter the area again, you'll find out what I mean. Be frugal with your coins; don't waste them on Flower Boxes. Also, make sure you're resourceful with the coins found in the secret area since it will make it easier. Included in the .zip is an snes9x movie file (walkthrough.smv) of the author playing through the entire hack in 86 minutes. Use this version of Snes9x to play it. Finally, if you find any bugs or annoyances or are just bothered in general about something in the hack go ahead and post about it here. Thanks for playing. Super Mario RPG: Armageddon (VERSION 10 + Older) Author: Darkkefka and Doomsday31415 Description: This is a difficulty hack, but it is not an ordinary one. The hack follows the same plot as the original, however, it features new techniques, monsters, items, secrets, and battles made for those who yearn for real challenge. The hack aims at giving you small doses of challenge enough to cause bouts of insanity, yet while still maintaining a merciful enough difficulty curve for humans. Super Mario RPG Open World Randomizer Author: pidgezer ne and "various authors"
Description from the main site: "What is the Super Mario RPG Open World Randomizer? A program that shuffles around a bunch of stuff in Super Mario RPG! The world looks the same, the game's objective is the same, but plenty of things can get shuffled around — such as playable characters, monsters, progression items, shop items, character/equipment/monster stats, and even Star Pieces! It's a different experience every time! This new version is an open world randomizer, inspired by other works such as the FF4: Free Enterprise randomizer. Super Mario RPG Open World Randomizer Author: Various Authors Description from the main site: "What is the Super Mario RPG Open World Randomizer? A program that shuffles around a bunch of stuff in Super Mario RPG! The world looks the same, the game's objective is the same, but plenty of things can get shuffled around — such as playable characters, monsters, progression items, shop items, character/equipment/monster stats, and even Star Pieces! It's a different experience every time! This new version is an open world randomizer, inspired by other works such as the FF4: Free Enterprise randomizer. This means most of the map is open from the start which drastically changes the gameplay!" Link to the Randomizer's Website: https://randomizer.smrpgspeedruns.com/ ![]()

Hi everyone. Im pretty new to this. I played a bunch of hacks and they were all good but there is a problem: there aren't very many out there. I've played bobomb mafia, oreffezeps, deciever dome, reserve 22, smrpg revolution 5, raeneske final mix, I'm just about finished with legend of the axem rangers, all I have left is armageddon 6. I have some ideas for some new hacks
1 maybe a hack following the paper Mario story. I know techniquely paper Mario is a sequel to smrpg, but if there is a possiblity to insert gfx maybe the levels could be th same. The kero sewers gfx could be for koopabros fortress. The desert part of lands end could be ch 2. Boosters tower could be tubbablubbas castle and forest maze before the mansion. There may have to be some inserted for shy guys toy box. There's already a volcano for chapter 5. Flower fields we have bean vally and nimbus land. Idk about crystal palace. Or new boss sprites for that matter But I think it could be a good idea. 2 maybe a game that follows yoshi. 5 different color yoshis, 5 different set of techniques. This one wouldn't require stage changes meaning the world map could stay the same with a different story. maybe just edit the level maps a little bit to make it interesting. 3 maybe a game where everything is dark and dead Mario goes up against world taken over by boos, drybones, shadows, reachers, greapers, hobgoblins, undead goombas and koopas, and maybe some new sprites all commanded by the big boss big boo, whos sprite may already be inthe game from bowsers terrorize, or king boo, or both. Here's the thing. I feel like I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head. I've done some work with lunar magic before but I can't figure out lazy shell for the life of me. So what I want to do is give my ideas away. I'd love to see my ideas come to life so I'll put them out there and if anyone wants to work with them feel free to use them.

first off i would like to know how to make it rain with the lightning like in kapusta plains in the bobomb mafia game. second can i change that to the snowy background or somthing to make it snow over the screen? my concept in mushroom kingdom is that mack and his gang are ice element and have brought snow to the kingdom. i already changed all the pallets for mushroom kingdom to look like snow but i wanted for when you go to mushroom kingdom when mack is there for it to be like a blizzard. |
