First, please see if any of this corrects your problems:

Posted by "must"

For those of you who may have problems, I have found some solutions that might work.

If you’re having problems with Addmusic, then you can hopefully find help here.

If you get this error:
'java' not recognized as an internal or external program, operable program, or batch file.
or something similar, then either you don't have java installed, or java cannot be found.
You can install Java here

If you have Java installed, then you need to follow these steps to designate the location of java:

(1) Open My Computer->C or what ever your main drive is)
(2) Look for a folder named j2sdk1.4.2_16 or something fairly similar to that
(3) Open the folder and look for "java"
(4) Right click it and go to properties
(5) Go to where it says "location" and copy all of the information there.
(6) Close everything, and then go to Start-> Control Panel
Note: When you open control panel, it will either have a blue or white background, if it is blue, then go to the menu on the left and select "classic view"
if you do not see the menu, then make sure that "Search" and "folders" are unselected
(7) Go to system, and then select the tab labeled "advanced"
(8) Select "Environment Variables"
(9) In the bottom part look for a selection named "path". If you do not find it, select "new". Put PATH in the top blank, and the information you copied in the bottom; If you have it, and then double click on it, and paste the information in the bottom.
(10) Try addmusic.

If it works, then congratulations! If you get a different error, then keep reading.

"main" noclassdeffounderror
If you get this error, then it means that java cannot find the class file its looking for, and is fixed by going to Start->control Panel (in classic view)->system->advanced->environment variables, and deleting CLASSPATH.
After you have done this, try addmusic. If it works, Congratulations! If you get yet another error, keep reading.

Unsupported class version error
This problem can arise for a few different reasons, you may have one, or all of the reasons.

I. Java is not the most recent version.
just install the newest version of Java (version 6 update 3)

II. Multiple Java versions installed.
go to start-> control panel-> add/remove programs. scroll down until you see java. if you have more than one delete all non version 6 update 3 versions.

III. PATHEXT not set correctly.
Go to tart-> control Panel (in classic view)-> system-> advanced-> environment variables and look for PATHEXT. If not there select "new" and in the top blank put PATHEXT, then add is with the following information in the bottom:
.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH

If you do have it then double click on it and insert the following information:
.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH

Try addmusic One last time. It should work.

well regardless, let ME say thanks to you andy_k_250. I was getting that "main" error and you helped me correct it.

Now I'm juggling through my different versions I downloaded trying to find one that doesn't do the P switch/star music glitch

*edit* done, and I can help you if you'd like trip

*edit2* andyk already offered... well either way. if he hasn't posted your update by tomorrow morning I'll give a shot at it

*edit3* ok, I'm getting started... just FYI there might be a duplicate or two since I know a couple of your songs are defaults but I don't know where. The songs will be added first into the 2A-2F and then the 3A-3F before overwriting anything else. will update you with a link when I finish

*edit4* ok just FYI, plan is to have your overworld music be numbers 12-18, your levels be 2A-2F and 3A-3F then replacing from 20 on. I'm getting "too big" issues right now but trying to work through that, I'll update you if and when I get it working.

*edit5* it looks like I'll be able to get it to work but you'll have to work out the music order for yourself, I scrambled it beyond all recognition trying to get those things fixed. some are defaults and some are yours but it looks like all the ones you asked for will be SOMEWHERE from 20-3F for levels (overworld worked just fine already)

*edit6* ok got them inserted properly. just a bit of editing and we should be good. your level songs are #2A-2E, 3A-3F, 32, and 20-27. sorry for the confusion there but I needed to do a lot of juggling to fit everything. Those numbers should be right, and the rest should be defauits... but regardless if I'm wrong all your songs are there SOMEWHERE.

*edit7* ok. made the hex edit to fix the P switch/Star music bug, and tested it out by putting one of your songs in level 105 and a P switch right at the beginning. Aside from that, and your songs being added, its a completely untouched copy of SMW (never even touched the overworld in LM yet). I'm gonna make and IPS then add a post here with it attached.

Sorry - most computers have java already, so I thought you meant you were trying to install the latest version.

If no one else has helped you by the time you read my message here, I will help you. Just PM me.

This might help:

If you want to fix a ROM that has already added custom music, open the ROM by hex editor. Next, search for "1A 09 20 8D FB 1D 9C DA 0D 6B" and change to "1A 09 20 8D FB 1D 8D DA 0D 6B".

OK... theoretically this should work. I added it to the uploader here on board 2... hope this is working.

http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=46

That SHOULD let you get it from there.

Description is in my previous post in this topic... everything should be working here.

Incidentally, thanks again andy_k for the hex edit link, I'd actually found it on SMW central about 5 minutes before you posted it but thanks again for the help.
