I stopped by recently and decided to register... the FAQ seems awfully short and harsh though
So... you might see me around a bit for a while |

The FAQ sure makes you look like you're Nazis
Also, the 'old' FAQ seems to still be there, just hidden in one big comment tag... and it seems to be useful but really outdated (some links point to nonexistant or wrong forums, and so on). |

Someone else uses Opera here?
Needing a plugin to do something like auto-refreshing is just dumb... it should be automatic ;P |

Aren't we already in the process of doing that?

When I'm not browsing the internet or drawing, I'm usually using the keyboard. It's faster to just hit "Ctrl+V" than right click and paste...
Of course, what's even faster is the little mouse nubs on laptops; they're between the B, G, and H keys and make it super-easy to change from keyboard and mouse, so it's sometimes faster to just use it instead. |

It's a nice simple layout, but I think you should remove the fixed width -- on 800x600, it fills the entire page and smashes the sidebar.
Also, consider adding some more variation to it; a background image to the whole post area of similar design would be good |

Have you tried simply booting into Windows 3.1, then going to the command prompt and running setup from there?
Or, also, navigating to the CD-ROM drive in W3.1 and executing the setup program? It's very possible Win 98 wasn't made to be booted from the CD; I've never seen it installed that way (only from pre-existing versions like 95)... but, then, I've never had a computer prompt me for it before (only when installing 2000). |

Well, you also have to keep in mind that there's only about fourty staff members here, and only half of that are active. That's about twenty staff members, and judging from the posts/day, that's about 30 posts per moderator.
This seems somewhat easy, but you have to remember a lot of posts go in forums that aren't covered by anyone (such as the ROM hacking forums, from what I can tell in the week I've been lurking)... certain people tend to stand out more; I frequently spot the same people being annoying constantly. Though, judging from the final lines in the FAQ ("this will end soon"), I'm hoping everything goes back to normal -- and that the FAQ gets updated, as well. Thanks for the kind welcomes, you three. |

Actually, it's just becuase your browser is caching the image... there's no purging them at all (they're all uploaded to /usravatar/, as "userid . extension") so if you just refresh the image it'd fine.
Though I have a feeling this could be fixed if the board appended a random query string (such as "?010410401") to the image URL in the database, making everyone reload it. |

Added some more elements to the marquee tag to make it smoother. It looks much better now. |

Had someone write you a SMB -> SMW level converter and then use it, simply loading and saving all the levels into SMW? Wow, amazing, someone did all of the work for you. Way go to. There's always the old DOS tool "FC" (file compare)... simply load up your command prompt of choice:
C:\> fc /b D:\rom1.xxx D:\rom2.xxx and it should be working fine for your purposes, even if it is a bit old... making a new comparison chart that outputs differences in a text file wouldn't be that hard, and if you really wanted just a small file you can always learn the IPS format. |

I took some time and created a small layout. There's not a whole lot of things in it, but at least it's easy to read
There's no custom CSS, so quotes and links look as they usually do, but aren't hard to see with my background choices. Hopefully this layout will serve a good, long time |

Tarale, thanks for pointing out the text size... it might be a bit small for some people, but it wasn't how I intended it anyway. I prefer 11-12pt fonts myself, and this works fine now

Thanks, again. I've always liked red-to-blue gradients...
I was thinking of putting something on the right or left side as a bit more decoration, but I couldn't think of anything. |
