I don't think your teacher would appreciate getting an illegal rom as a class project. You could get in some serious trouble by doing this.

Say, to truly get a Past, Present, and Future Mario... Could you force each save to load different Mario Graphics?
Past - SMB3
Present - SMW
Future - New Mario Bros

I believe that would help with your depth, and make it more believable that all three represent different timelines.

Yup, it was true. Even on the Pokémon Website, it said you could get a Free Mew between 12 and 3 at Toys R Us. The one I went to, at least, allowed you to get 1 Mew per Gamepack. I got 3

Mew Level 10
Nature Timid
HP: 41
Att: 25
Def: 26
SpA: 26
SpD: 26
Speed: 28

Mew Level 10
Nature Calm
HP: 41
Att: 24
Def: 25
SpA: 27
SpD: 28
Speed: 27

Mew Level 10
Nature Docile
HP: 41
Att: 26
Def: 26
SpA: 25

Speed: 26

Request: Create a Verison that is barren of all Custom Blocks. This is on the hopeful part that BlockTool Omega will be released, and it would be much simpler to not have them around.

Helpful bit I hope: Look into the patch that modifies the Mario/Luigi Graphics routine so that Luigi has different graphics... SMW Central is an easy place to find it. That might give you some insight on that part if you want to look it up.

How about a related question, could putting blocks in via ASM eliminate the Slow-Down that having many Custom Blocks from BlockTool has?

Well, some of us are purists, or at least don't like to cheat. I prefer to have legitimate data rather then sharked data.

Mew has more defenses then Metwo by 5 in both, greatly offset by Mewtwo's Special Attack and Attack. 154 base SpA, 110 Att, versus Mew's base of 100 in everything.
Mewtwo is faster...
Shadow Ball is best attack against eachother for both..
Mew's best bet would probably be Hypnosis and Shadow Ball.

Bad luck, I got 3 Mews. Good luck to ya. I wouldn't mind trading mine away for a Ho-oh...

Yea, I just realized that it was going on yesterday, so I had to quick make arrangements to go there.

Problem with that is, it is cheating. Nintendo has not released the item nessacary to get there. For faking these Mews... can you get the Hidden Trainer Code right? And get the 'Where it was Caught' bit put in properly, since you cannot see what that bit says?

Posted on 10-03-06 06:40 PM, in Taking away holding and Small Mario? Link
I am currently attempting to do this myself (The Hit Points), my first attempt at writing ASM, and I can't find the Mario hurt Subroutine. I've gone through the rom map at smwcentral, and I haven't come up with it. Where is it?

Also, how would Fire Mario and Cape mario interact with this, and how can I get it so that they all act the same in this regard? I don't want either to change back into Super Mario, just continue as usual.

Any tips on disabling Spin Jump for Cape and Fire marios?

Finally, how can I disable the Mushroom going to Item Box when you collect a Fire Flower or Feather, but not when you collect Mushrooms?

EDIT: Also, any idea how I can change the tilemap to seperate Fire Mario and Big Mario? Maybe make Fire Mario use Small Mario's Tilemap?

Posted on 10-05-06 10:09 PM, in A new Board Idea Link
This is my Inspiration, made it myself when thinking about different board Ideas and developed it to this point.

The Insidious L.A.R.P. Society, (League for Adverturous Roleplaying Paradigms), a small team of Game Masters, stumbled upon ancient Technology dating before Time and Space were realized. With this ancient Technology, the L.A.R.P. society realized they could finally do literallty what they have been doing figuratively for years... they could create another universe filled with all the Video Games, Anime, and D20 Systems ever created as actual things and then Transmigrate, or Transfer, their minds into any type of creature their hearts desired. Now they force random characters into their universe with the utmost precision, the Technology forcing anyone it touched into a character of their minds. Can you escape this too realistic world? Or, do you want to stay in this Larping Experience?

And, I think I'm taking a Battle Cards system into the mechanics.

I have been thinking about my creating my own Roleplaying Board, my second one, and I've been brainstorming topics. This one is the most interesting one I have thus far.

What do you think?

All I can tell you is... try to take the Ball 'n' Chain out. If I remember correctly, your problem is the problem you get when you put Ball 'n' Chain in the same level as certain other sprites.

Get SMW Dev. It can make all of your Marios use different palettes, thus eliminating this problem. You just have to use SMW Dev to change the palettes whenever you want to.

A copy of the rom, it might be the non-patched rom. Just rename it to SMC and you can see.

Broke the rom eh? Hmm... Works for me. How did it break the rom? Stopped working in ZSNES? Tried to use it in SNES9X?

That would be good to know.

Where it overwrites, you may have some custom code there or Lunar Magic might have done something there. Ask HabsoluteFate for some help if you still want the patch .

Strange that the 1.0 verison doesn't work, and I can't get it working like it used to for me...

Well, I have found a way around that.

Use the .3 verison, command line. Apply the patch and continue using .3 version. I think it requires you to change it by hex, but it shows you where that is by using the display option.

It would not be hard to test...

Go fight some Pokemon at X level and record how much EXP you get.

Fight the same Pokemon at X level but with the changed rarity and see how much EXP you get.

Posted on 11-15-06 09:51 PM, in The Reiken Rating System! Link
This system is a fun little thing I whipped up to easily rate a video game... and a video gamer! Remember, most ratings are of the viewpoint of the rater and this system of rating is somewhat biased to my personal tastes. Remember, rate games on the basis of others, not your own personal tastes, those will be inevitably be included but it is good to start with what other people think.

0 - Worst
10 - Best

Video Game
0 - Not worth the cardboard. A horrible video game that offers horrible gameplay and/or graphics. Something no one will ever play twice. Few games actually deserve this rating. EX: Zelda: Wand of the Gameleon

1 - Very bad. A video game that offers a] horrible graphics or b] horrible gameplay.

3 - Bad. A video game that has bad gameplay and mediocre graphics. Also a mandatory category for video games that have violence as the means and ends of the game and/or contain pointless real life racism as a focal point. EX: GTA

5 - Average. A video game that has decent graphics and gameplay. Is fun for the first time. EX: Super Mario Sunshine

7 - Excellent. A video game that offers decent graphics and good gameplay, is fun for the first time and when you have friends with you. EX: Halo 2

9 - Great. A video game that is fun regardless of the quality of graphics because of its fun gameplay. EX: Tetris (SNES or other simple version)

10 - Legend. A video game that has stood the test of time and is still fun to play, even as a first time. EX: Chrono Trigger

Gamers
0 - The Tack Jhompson Category. Self-explanatory. If you are of this category you shouldn't be reading this, this is for more intelligent and open-minded people.

1 - Newb and equivalent. One who doesn't learn and is a nuesicence to anyone that trys to teach him/her. Not to be confused with Newbies. One who also rates game based purely on graphics.

3 - OverFan. One who states that X genre/system is better than everything else and will always be better than everything else.May often use graphics and violence to rate games. May use !337 Speak in Multiplayer.

5 - Average. Still rates games on graphics and violence, but will recgonize a bad game and will try others.

7 - Good. One who is open-minded about games and, though can be biased based on game type, is open-minded about game companies. Doesn't judges a game based on fun and gameplay for the most part. EX: Stephan Reiken, creator of this system.

9 - Excellent. Anyone who is truly open-minded about games in both genre and company. Never judges a game based on graphics or violence. Knows personal prefrences well but does not put down games not of his/her preference.

10 - Legend. No one deserves this, and anyone who says they are a 10 themselves is a 5 at best.

Bah, none of you get my light-hearted, though strange in concept, humor. I was in a strange modd and just decided to whip it up and see what people think. Think what you may, this was fun to whip in in my own fashion.

Mostly, it is interesting to see the difference in replies from one forum to another. This forum goes into debate about reviewing games... I'd prefer more posts like HyperHacker, though I'd prefer more detail. What do you think is overdone? Would not being overdone make it better?

Anyone can make a rating system... but what do they rate? Most I see rate Graphics and Gameplay and sometimes Sound or some third category, and then either the average of them being the overall or a seperate overall. I do not believe that you can seperate any of those categories if you want to actually rate a game, it has to be one solid number.
