Animagic provides a rather simplified interface for dealing with this, as well as being useful in creating animated gifs out of sprites, as I was doing some work on earlier tonight.

Also, please get rid of that background. It's impossible to read your post over it.

It does change a lot as you get into college, for two reasons.

The first is simply that you end up having a lot more people having seen some anime and maybe liking it through college friends and the like.

The second really relates largely to why you're running into this problem in the first place. Anime's place in popular culture has really been changing a lot over the past few years. The most visible elements, at least in early years, were Sailor Moon, DBZ, and Pokemon, with Gundam Wing figuring solely into anyone's perception of the mecha community (which I've seen time and again). People who don't really know much about anime are likely to see those as the most 'real' examples; foreign views of American animation are less likely to include "The Simpsons" (popular as they are) as they are to include Disney stuff. That's just what most people see.

Now, in more recent years anime has been growing a bit in popular culture due to the success of films like Metropolis, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away, though it is by no means complete. Even those who do recognize it are rather limited, and those are mostly college age and adults...so in high school you're certainly going to see exactly what you have.

...and from the name and thread title, I half expected the contents of the post to be "Post."

I must say, "Don't ban me" is about the most interesting first sentiment to convey to a new board that I've seen about anywhere.

I was definitely a fan of the Deathscythe, in both its original and upgraded incarnations in the series. I didn't really like any of the new Gundam designs in Endless Waltz (other than Heavyarms), though the non-Gundam new MS (Serpent and Tallgeese III) were nice. I was also a fan of the Shenlong and the Altron. Sure, the extending arm gimmick was done by the Dragon Gundam already, as were the flamethrowers (which were somehow used in space, too...), but it was good.

My single favorite moment in Wing would have to be when the D-Hell and Altron are first unleashed on the lunar base. Just badass, really.

Well, I think you need to understand that in general the "I'm a straight man but I find this guy sexy" thing is largely used as a joke of sorts, and what it really says is essentially what you're saying about Sean Connery as James Bond; he's really cool, looks great, and all that sort of thing. I've also heard it referred to as a "nonsexual crush" which I continue to find amusing.

I think mostly she was just trying to help. Congrats again on the promotion, hope your posting is able to coincide with it eventually

Well, seeing as one of the people is banned, I would hope it would be done

Speaking of world peace, what I'm reminded of is the X-Files episode with the genie, in which Mulder wishes for world peace, which the genie grants...by getting rid of everyone.

I'm not such a fan of posing naked in public in general...

...and I'm a Catholic, and that's in the Vatican...that would be SO not right, even more so...

Yes, I know you're kidding...or at least I hope you are...but still, yeah. Those pictures are for other places...nah, I have not nor do I intend to take those kinds of pictures of myself...ever.

Technically, I'm Aquarius by most (though not all) tables I've seen, but I'm on the Capricorn/Aquarius cusp, which is something one of my astrology-interested friends thought was very significant.

I think the term you're looking for is unofficial...

And as for the fight, assuming they're good, I go for the kicker both due to reach and the fact that your head, a rather vulnerable place, is more hittable to a puncher than a kicker.

Oh, I don't want everyone to have those, and I'm not serious about actually using it, for reasons you cited.

...but it's certainly fun to imagine being able to be the only person to do it

Well, in general most image editing programs will have a tool that looks like a dropper which can get the exact color of whatever...so you can use that to get that color, find its RGB attributes, and manually change the corresponding color on the other sprite's pallette to that one.

Sky: Nice place, I might decide to set up residence after we clear out these bandits. Except not.

Sky smiled as he watched Lucas looking over Arminas's pushups. He was starting to like the guy, and wondered why he was the only one to whom the boy showed even a tiny degree of respect. It had to mean something.

Cassandra: So as far as you know, are these just run of the mill bandits, or is there something more than the fools we've encountered?

There was never a live-action series. There was, however, a live-action movie, in G-Saviour, widely regarded as one of the worst things Gundam to date...made in English, too, though I think Canadian rather than US studios. While it's pretty bad, as a Gundam film, as a general sci-fi film I've certainly seen worse.

And therein lies the difficulty of making the determination. Things which would cause obvious danger such as the situation you describe should probably not be allowed. But then, where do you draw the line? It could be said that a number of avenues of "free speech" may serve to produce danger in one way or another...is it the imminence of the danger that's the issue, the extent of it, or what?

It's all well and good to say we should have freedom of expression, which I generally support...but there may be some cases where it's good to put some limits. Another issue of freedom of the press right now that I think is important regards war. Watch news programs in the US and you're likely to see a decent amount of what strategic offensives are being mounted. Gee, that really makes intelligence networks for the enemy a lot easier, just flip on the news. On the one hand, you want to inform US citizens of what we're doing...but on the other, you don't want the enemy to know everything.

Funny thing about your statement is that it shows absolutely zero knowledge of the history of The Church. The early Christian church WAS the Catholic Church, you didn't get a major split until 1054 (or earlier if you go to the beginning of a conflicting ideologies rather than the official split) with the Great Schism and later with the Protestant and Anglican reformations. The Catholic Church never "took over" Christianity; they were in charge from the beginning. The Catholic Church is descended fairly directly through Peter, who is seen as the first Pope.

I think the idea is that we're attempting to build peace, and this makes a nice start.

...and you don't seem to have changed the title of the thread. And yes, I am sure of it. Inofficial is a word, albeit an infrequently used one, but it doesn't have quite the meaning I'm guessing you're trying to get at.

Sky: That, is actually really creepy. But quite cool.

With that, the magewarrior stepped into the shadowy area. It was a rather strange feeling, somehow, being invisible to most of the rest of the world...this degree of stealth was something he had long been unable to achieve, so he hoped he would get a chance to learn the technique later.

Sky: Jump on in, guys, the shadow's fine!
