Colin, you say that like the activity today was a BAD thing. I think that in fact it was quite good, and a good way to begin the month. Also, it might be seen as practice for Xkeeper's birthday in a few days.

I think also several people missed the point of the analogy I made. My point was merely that the logic used by the person I was responding to was "people do it anyway, so make it legal" is really very bad logic. I wasn't trying to say that doing drugs is as bad as some of these other crimes or anything like that. I was merely addressing extremely faulty logic, nothing more.

Congratulations on 3000, Danielle! Here's your prize, being used by Mark Hamill:

And you miss my point yet again. Basically, what you said translated in logic to "if people will do it whether or not it's legal, we should make it legal." It makes no statement as to how good or bad pot is, or the other acts, or how it can be punished. It merely suggests that the fact that people will do it means that we should let them. Now, elaborating further on it changes things a bit...but from what you said there, it's extremely faulty logic.

You do know there are other kinds of alcohol, right? Hard cider, red wine, white wine, champagne, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, midori, schnapps, etc.

There are many, many things you can use to get drunk other than beer.

Yeah, like Colin, I am a Night user and saw it a few times. I saw most of the other ones, though...I'm very grateful that AE Torture wasn't thrown into the mix. Otherwise someone might have needed to die.

Danielle, you need to realize, it will NEVER be over. Things like this find ways of popping up when you least expect them, even if they do go away. Which is what will probably happen to this at some point. Which reminds me, I need to save the URL for that robot one, since I think that will become my official image for "Danielle has a gun/robot fetish"...

I like the spinning "new" signs, but I would like them as an option, rather than forced on me, so I could turn them off when they started getting bad...like they have...and then turn them back on for a bit when I want to be amused again.

And Acmlm on Acid would be AE Torture...though only if you're talking about a bad trip.

Well, I figured it out long before 11:14 PM, I just couldn't find it in my heart to break the joke, since it was a good one, and the only one that got me

Oh, and the real reason I wanted to post: here's that early GameFAQs poll I talked about. Looking back on the total votes then as opposed to now is really funny.

Well, I think that it's VERY important to look at numbers here rather than percentages. The total number of voters in that poll isn't 10% of what you generally get in an average poll these days. Why is that important? GameFAQs was first frequented by devoted gamers, and later by the fanboys who currently dominate the scene. It wasn't, my theory is, that the opinions of individuals changed. Rather, it was the demographics. It's like an influx of immigrants...only in the case of immigrants many are intelligent and hardworking, whereas the fanboys are pretty wholely awful.

I'm going to try not to get too involved in this discussion due to the drama that might be caused as a result, but I feel I can address one of MON's first points from an objective stance, and that I should.

Purely scientifically, a sperm and an egg are merely cells with half of the genetic makeup of the father and mother, respectively. As such, DNA tests would find the genetic material identical to the source, or at least part of the source. When an egg is fertilized, the resulting zygote, embryo, fetus, newborn, infant, etc. have distinct DNA from the mother and the father, not merely an additive property of the different genetic material. As such, what is created is a distinct life from the mother and the father, from a purely scientific standpoint. The result of the fertilization of an egg is a distinct human life, as far as science determines each of these criteria.

Whether you accept this definition as what should be used in the determination of policy or not is a far more complicated issue, and I seek merely to provide some rather basic information on which to build that discussion, and to draw the one really objective dividing line there is.

Disch, honestly, calm down. There's no reason to take this stuff that seriously. Yes, the spinny things were annoying...but that's hardly the end of the world.
