Nova: You know, with some scrap metal and a bit more info, I might be able to build a bunch of those. I'm not the most technically oriented, but good enough.

Sabor seemed rather impatient, as he walked towards the gate again.

Nova: Erm, but now I think we should probably get going.

((ALL life? What about the trees? ))

Sky: Calm down there, buddy. If you want to fight, I'll fight you. You seem as good a challenger as anyone. But if you're enraged you'll make mistakes and that'd be an easy battle, even if you are strong.

The magewarrior hopped up and back, landing softly on the altar at the top of the temple. He tilted his head to the side a bit and looked quizically at Evan.

Sky: What makes this place "yours" anyway? I couldn't find any records of it being owned by anyone, part of the reason for my setting the fight here. If you want, we could move it elsewhere, but I think this place has a lot of character. Care to go?

Nova: Well, I'm hardly a backwater mercenary. I've done work all over the world.

Nova urged Sabor on to the rest of the group.

Nova: And please...stop calling me a mercenary. I'm looking to get away from the work I've been doing, and that includes shedding titles.

Maybe he's sad because he doesn't like Fallout Boy?

And Danielle, I'm sure you'll have a chance to go to Europe at some point...and I recommend you take it when it comes along.

Funny that you should mention Evanescence, actually. They're not in the same category as, say, Creed, who is a fairly blatant "mainstream Christian rock" band, but both by their own admission at some points, and from my own impression of the lyrics, they seem to have some Christian inspiration in their music. It's hardly "holy" stuff or anything, but at the same time it's hardly in the same category as Disturbed or SoaD.

I'm not generally a fan of scary movies...just not really my thing. That said, I felt obligated to watch "The Ring" when it came out because of all the hype that it was getting. And truth be told, I really liked the movie. It seemed interesting, and certain parts, particularly the end, were pretty damn creepy. I definitely made a few of my friends scream on the walk back to the dorm from the theater, too.

Wait, an odd keyboard layout with delete on the right? Is delete not on the right side of the keyboard on your computer?

I never really understood that whole thing about "proper" usage of the alt/shift keys for various things. Does it really matter which hand you use with them? I personally find it quicker and easier to take my hands off the home row and use thumb/ring-finger on alt+tab, respectively.

I've spent the better part of the last three months writing essays, some of them properly researched, some of them only barely suitably researched, most of them quite long. I hardly think writing a post of that sort will be difficult. And there are still several hundred more replies in this topic before it's needed, so I can always get my prefabricated post done whenever. No rush, no difficulty. I just need to decide on a topic to address in it.

See, an hour forward doesn't work, but what does work sometimes is ~5 minutes, if you're constantly leaving late. Again, you could get used to that and it wouldn't work anymore. What I've done, quite by accident, is set my clock every once in a while when it seems like it's too early or too late, one way or the other. At this point, I'm not sure where it lies in relation to normal time. Which could be both good and bad. But I'm rarely late.

One of the prevailing themes of the arguments seems to be that it's no worse than alcohol or tobacco, and I'm not convinced that's a good argument. As for prohibition, well, marijuana has BEEN illegal and we haven't been having the same kinds of problems, so that one's meaningless.

More importantly, I put out there, do we need another intoxicating substance? Even if it's not as bad as alcohol, which I'm still not convinced of, will it really help to have another one out there? Saying "alcohol is just as bad" isn't an argument for legalizing pot as much as it's an argument for making alcohol illegal as well, if you're going to state negative effects of alcohol. That's like finding some awful thing that it's legal to do, say in corporate accounting, and saying that some other offense that IS illegal should be legal because it's no worse.

I dunno, I wouldn't mind another game that was in a style very similar to that of the one released relatively recently for PS2. That was a wonderful game, and I'd like another pretty much just like it.

I have, as have others, and no one listened. That's why I wasn't posting in this thread for a while; no one actually paid attention to what was said, and I figured it was a lost cause to try to convince people of it who wouldn't listen no matter what I said.

If anything, the current situation has us forcing NO religion on anyone. We seem to be heading towards a forced atheism society.

Oh come on, Wurl, just pay attention for a second and you'll see it's not just Fox News, it's not just conservatives. Quite a few Americans of all stripes dislike the French, and it's pretty easy to see why. They're self-righteous bastards at least as badly as the worst of the Americans, and their history confirms that. Add to that their constant criticism of the US despite the help America has rendered on their behalf, and the fact that they themselves are racist (the administration is extremely antisemitic, and they've had huge problems with the Muslim population in the country), and you see a country that it's easy to hate and difficult to like.

This is one of the most often misunderstood parts of the constitution. Speaking of people who don't look at what the founding fathers wrote...or rather, look EXTREMELY SELECTIVELY at it, why don't you go read some more about the subject? The whole point of the "separation of church and state" deal was NOT to "protect" the state from religious influence, as you and all other democrats seem to believe, but rather to protect religions from state influence, as had happened in England. The founding fathers didn't want religion out of everywhere (hence the religious mentions in documents there, despite the fact that they're more deists/masons than christians), they wanted religion to not be shaped by the state.

Which is exactly what is HAPPENING as the state is basically telling religion to get out of everything in a number of cases.

Well, the other difference about the video games is that the main character can die at just about any time, whereas in horror movies, while some people are dying, some will survive, at least until about the end.

Because most of the average citizens there are extremely anti-American as well, maybe. And they have a representative government. If the French people hated the racist sentiments of the government, they could vote to change it.
