Well actually, the long-term effects of pot have only recently been coming to light. I'm not sure how much you know about neurochemistry in general, but to put it simply, any substance (food, drug, etc.) that has any effect on your brain does so because either it's already there to some extent, or it's mimicking something that is. Generally what you're doing when you use a drug is putting more of that in than normal.

For quite some time researchers were wondering what the case was for the active ingredients in marijuana, and relatively recently hit on it. The neurotransmitters that it mimics are those which cause the breakdown of connections between neurons. Why would you want to break connections between neurons in a normal, healthy brain? Well, let me ask you this: do you really NEED to know what you've had for breakfast every morning for the past five months? Basically, it breaks connections it doesn't need anymore.

When you smoke pot, though, you put a lot more of that chemical into your system, and it breaks more connections than are desirable. It doesn't act on a massive scale like some drugs, so unless you're doing little other than smoke all day it's not going to have a devastating effect. Still, and you can see that it is noticeable to some extent in people who smoke even not that much, it does indeed have a deleterious effect.

As for why I'm so into it now...it was suggested that someone should make a Twinkle Star layout, and I'm a fun-loving guy, so I decided that I should be the one to do just that.

Well, of course it's a joke...but it's still amusing to think about. Like the things that happen at the end of a Men in Black movie. Maybe we really are just a tiny part of something else's universe. We may even be an experiment of theirs.

Yeah, but I think the difference is that when you look at it in detail, Tom has used up far more than just his first and second chances

More on topic, we also don't have to use modern ranks.

Once, alcohol was illegal. Gangs and organized "families" illegally made alcohol. Crime was rampant. People died, because they could put anything in alcohol without it being regulated. Then, prohibition stopped. Alcohol was made legal. Organized crime almost stopped. The mafia as they were in the 20's disappeared. There was nothing they could push anymore.
I feel that the same would happen if they legalize marijuana. Alot of the crime we have now is over something as petty as marijuana. I doubt companies that pushed marijuana would lace the leaf with such chemicals as cocaine, heroine or methamphetymines.

So... legalize marijuna, I say. To get rid of crime. Increase the pursuit of knowledge, and bring a greater sense of peace to our country.

Please tell me you're joking. Do you really think it would cause much of a decrease in crime, aside from possession and/or sale of marijuana? I think it would in fact be more likely to increase crime as it's been well-established as a gateway drug. Also, legalize it and you'll be having a lot more high-in-public kinds of things, which is pretty bad for the rest of society, not to mention potentially dangerous.

You say some contradictory things in your post, in addition to wrong ones. Firstly, prisons would not be emptied by 50% because of it. Secondly, if it were legalized, then you would have to regulate it, which itself would cost quite a bit of money. That would hardly be free. And there would continue to be marijuana busts, as the "busts" have always been for the large-scale producers and dealers...and if it were legalized, be assured you would need a license to sell it, like a liquor license. Anybody who's still dealing would be breaking the law and could be imprisoned. If anything, that would give them even more of a reason to crack down on it.

Sadly, we didn't end up making it to the Irish pub in Oxford. One of the girls in the house was playing/singing at another pub tonight, and as it turns out, the pubs close at 11, even on nights such as tonight...so that was disappointing.

Tech support in particular tends to be rather awful, and probably more so as time goes on. Since documentation tends to be made more and more in an understandable manner, and things get a bit more intuitive, the people who call will naturally tend to increasingly be those who should have their breathing privileges revoked.

I am very much a fan for the return of a general random discussion thread. Or if we want it to be slightly less random, then Colin could set the tone of the conversation by means of the title each day, maybe?

The funniest thing about that spike is that it's always going to be there. Even if I tend to have most days being 20-50 posts and pretty consistent, my graph is forever going to be really, really tall.

Hey, if you have casual sex with the enemy, that's a good way to get intel, as well as show just how cool you can be under pressure. So you have casual sex with the attractive members of the enemy (of your chosen orientation), and then kill the rest of them.

When Nova reached the ranch, it was surprisingly quiet. It was dark, but only barely, by the time he got there, and he would have expected a bit more activity. Were they all inside? He brought Sabor in through the gates and dismounted.

Nova: Hello? Anybody around?

Well, he has a certain degree of spamming that he's done, but at the same time has put forth some longer more thought-filled posts as well. It's certainly not like "Agent Smith/Mr. Anderson" or anything.

Nova smiled at the girl.

Nova: You wouldn't turn me away in the cold of night now, would you?

Seeing that she wasn't much in the mood for jokes, he took on a more serious expression.

Nova: I have some rather serious business that I need to discuss with Hikari, and the sooner the better. But what kind of problem are you facing?

Does it really need to make sense? I think that's what you need to ask yourself. Whether or not it makes sense, it certainly does imply a certain degree of mastery over the enemy that merely killing them does not.
