One really has to wonder what some people are thinking when they decide on the names for some of these games.

...and despite the fact that an answer is given in the photo itself, why is an EVA riding a my little pony and holding a Canadian flag?

I think it's one texture repeated when you zoom out largely because...Mars just isn't really all that interesting, and that may in fact be the whole planet shown.

Oh, I'm sure the wiki will probably rise again. It only seems like it's dying now because the huge influx of entries that naturally comes from its opening has died down. Eventually it'll become a bit more active as people think of more things to add, and then settle into an equilibrium probably SLIGHTLY more active than this.

Why I predict this, I don't know, but that's what I think.

I was about to comment on how awful it is to use gay in the pejorative sense like that, but then I realized that this is a message board and not the extremely liberal college campus I'm used to...and realized that I don't really honestly care one way or the other. I don't support or oppose its use in that sense

I don't know, I think people stopped reading the banner when those random quotes went up a couple weeks ago.

All we WERE is a large tub of iron. There ARE man-made things you can see from space (NOT just the Great Wall, as has been claimed), and the oceans and clouds make Earth more interesting to see. Lack of atmosphere and water really hurts Mars in that sense.

I think you SHOULD make it more annoying. Make it flashing text.

Better yet, make everything flashing text.

...that is, if you want to drive everyone away.

What kind of security holes were there, and how/why were they being exploited? It seems like there would be better sites to try to hack into...

Trapster, two things:

1. 7-10 pages doesn't take THAT long to read through, especially when it's interesting.

2. If you're too lazy to do that, ask the story creator for a quick rundown, and then join as a new character who doesn't need to know everything that's happened anyway.

As for the SF, it hasn't been too active today. I posted this morning, over 12 hours ago, and there hasn't been another post there since then.

Skydude stood atop the temple, waiting. The ancient Aztec pyramid extended far below him into the jungle, cracks showing in its sides but still holding up well in the tropical weather. Vines had nearly completely covered the old structure, the rest of the city swallowed completely by the creeping jungle. Whatever devastation the rainforest was experience, you couldn't see it here. The trees stretched out as far as the eye could see, a few poking their tops through the green terrace, beacons for miles around. The quiet trill of insects filled the humid air, broken occasionally by the roar of a jaguar or another creature. Yes, this forest was brimming with life. Brimming with life, on the edge of this temple. This temple, this temple of death. Death both in its time, from the thousands of sacrifices that occurred just meters from where Sky stood, and death from its lack of use, a decaying symbol of a people long gone. The temple had been magnificent, decorated with jewels and colorful paints. But time had worn away the paint and the jewels had been taken, some for museums and some for money. But the temple itself was still impressive in its majesty, both inside and out, and its place in the jungle was suitable for battle. A bridge between life and death. The Red Wizard stood atop the temple, golden armor shimmering in the sun, as he awaited the arrival of his opponent.

My character, as perhaps you've seen in the SF or in one of the tournament signup threads here, is a magewarrior, think effectively a Red Wizard, which is mostly how he looks, but physically rather stronger.

Well, take me as a good example. When I joined, way back when, I joined several stories at once. And most of them were in the middle. One, in fact, an Ocarina of Time parody, was rather close to the end when I joined.

If your character doesn't know everything that's happened, you don't need to know everything that's happened either. And so long as you write decent posts, you're a welcome addition no matter how late you come in. Like I said, look at me, I posted in the middle of a few stories and became a mainstay of the forum.

I know I'm a bit late on this, but I just watched the video, and...wow. Just...wow. That looks absolutely amazing. And I think it really adds a lot to have Will Wright narrating what's going on during this, more than just a basic gameplay video alone would, and telling his inspirations and such.

I imagine it'll be murder on most computers, though, to load all this stuff.

Bad puns, accidentally insulting things...what are some things you've said on AIM that you realized afterwards could probably be taken REALLY differently than how you meant them, even in context?

I bring this up because of a conversation with a deaf friend of mine:

Friend: *sighs*
Friend: i just read a disturbing article.
Me: on what?
Friend: apparently the miss Deaf Texas got killed by a train.
Me: yeah, I heard about that

whoops

I had a very strict teacher in the computer class I took during middle school, and though I will occasionally use the "wrong" shift key, other than that I pretty consistently use "correct" typing using the home row. I have a bit of trouble with numbers sometimes as well and have to look.

But I tend to be able to write pretty quickly and accurately.

We'll really have to wait and see just how great it is, especially considering there could be a lot of changes between this and the final release, for better or worse.

I must admit I'm slightly skeptical if only because I got rather bored with the Sims relatively quickly. I wonder if the game would let you continually build creatures from scratch and let other "civilizations" go on autopilot, so to speak. That is, you build up a civilization, and then build up other species to populate the planet, in the midst of the more advanced dealings of these sentient ones.

We realize that the Twinkle Star must be terrifying, but it is a fear you must learn to face in this world!

Why, just yesterday I was walking down the street and I was accosted by no fewer than seventeen Twinkle Stars! If I hadn't learned to deal with them, well, I think I would have had a nervous breakdown right there.

I suppose a knife/spoon and knife/fork wouldn't really be too bad. If you've ever used a grapefruit spoon, that's effectively a combination of a knife and a spoon (have YOU played knifey-spoony before?). As for the knife/fork, I tend to cut things with the side of my fork when possible (like potatoes) so I guess a bit sharper edge might not be too bad.

You just need to make sure it's not too sharp or you might cut yourself with it when you're eating.
