Apparently I wasn't quite clear in what I was trying to say, and for that I apologize.

One of the problems a lot of people, and in particular self-proclaimed atheists, have with religious fundamentalists is what they see as a lack of tolerance for other ideas. The idea put out there that there is this one truth, and it MUST be as these people see it, and anyone who believes otherwise is wrong. Contrast this with just simple faith, which says that you believe something in particular is right, but you're not about to go tell everyone they're wrong if they believe otherwise. What I'm trying to say is that many atheists who complain about the religious folk "shoving religion down their throats" will then do exactly the same with atheism to anyone else.

Difference of opinion is "I think my belief is right...that's why it's my belief, let me explain why I believe this", whereas what I'm referring to could be seen as "I'm right, you're wrong, and I'm completely sure that you're wrong, so agree with me on this one".

Difference of opinion leaves room for discussion. Complete fundamentalism, be it religious or antireligious, doesn't.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaang on Sloopy, Sloopy hang on!

Yeah, Ohio State's is quite good (and growing up in Ohio, of course I've heard it plenty of times), but I have to be a bit biased, being in my own school's Band (not exactly your average Band), and go with Stanford's "All Right Now"...it sounds good.

As for USC's fight song, someone made up some words to it that we sing along with from time to time at games versus them:

This...is the only song we know...
it's boring and it's slow,
but it's the only song we know...

Sky looked toward the now growing number of town 'heroes' lying on the ground, and then turned towards Arminas.

Sky: Jeez, this kid's loaded for bear...well, boy, looks like you may not need my help after all. Don't overdo it, though. You want to defend yourself, that's one thing, but if you start with serious injuries, I may need to take their side. I think we ought to just get out of here for now so nobody else gets hurt.

With that, Sky motions towards the exit and gestures for Arminas to follow.

Sky walked up to SomerZ at this point and gave him a great big bear hug.

Sky: Ah, it's great to see you, buddy, it's been a while. Sorry about the fall. Seems the helmet's a bit complicated to take off. But that's alright, I'll help you with that later if you want. You know how much I just love all this cyborg stuff. Absolutely fascinating.

How useful is constant auto-refreshing anyway? I'm sure lololol and some other browsers are wonderful, and I've used the FF a few times, but honestly, IE does exactly what I need it to do almost all the time...and I'm used to it. So it works for me.

Posted on 02-19-06 10:25 PM, in FFX-2 Link
My feelings towards FFX-2 swung quite a few ways over the course of a month. At first, I was so excited about a sequel to FFX, which while not perfect, was a great game. Then, I saw the whole "Charlie's Angels" thing and decided it looked awful. Then a friend whose opinion on games I generally trust told me that it really was a good game underneath there, so I decided to ask for it for Christmas.

Getting the game and putting it in...I tried to like it, I really did. Occasionally I would have some fun with it. There are some interesting things in the battle system, but a lot that I just didn't really like (class changing has always been an iffy factor for me, and only a few games have done it in ways I've really liked, like FFT). As far as the story, I thought some elements were nice, but the presentation was awful. The whole game felt like a bunch of completely unconnected vignettes.

I'm not much of a fan of the game in general.

Speaking of ATB, it seems FF12 has kind of a modified form of that. I got DQ8 for Christmas, but never got around to popping in the FF12 demo disc...and I don't have my PS2 with me here, so I guess I'll have to wait another month to see.

Sky: Brash, too brash. Look, kid, going around beating people up because they annoy you isn't going to get you to your goal, and it's going to piss a lot of folks off. Believe me, I've been in your shoes.

Sky walks up to Lucas and takes him aside, watching to make sure Arminas keeps his distance.

Sky: I'm guessing this kid has been a problem for you before. If you give me the information he's looking for, I'll take him there, and do my best to make sure he doesn't...well, that he doesn't do something this brash there. The kid's got the making's of a fine warrior, and I heard something about this bandit myself. I'd like to accompany him and keep him out of trouble.

My big question, Grey, is what your perspective brings to this. Don't look at this as a challenge, mind you, but as an actual question. I'm sure you really do bring another perspective that's valuable...but I haven't yet discerned what exactly that is. Could you explain that to the poor confused Sky?

I'm not such a fan of Standford or Standord either. Stanford, on the other hand, is another story. As for the Band, yeah, we've been kicked out of a few places...but it's not personal at all, we made fun of the Mormons too. We make fun of Stanford students sometimes as well...equal opportunity fun at everyone's expense.

But yeah, I suppose if your dad went to Cal, that'd make you biased against us.

Sky: You know, Kirb, we didn't really need to take them out with the new plan, just knock them out of the way. Kirb?

Sky noticed the dreamlander had stopped and saw the corpselike figures advancing on him. This wasn't good, he thought...but just heading in there would put him in the same predicament. New strategy, then, he thought, as his sword returned to its normal color and he put it away. Spreading his hands out in front of him, Sky made a motion that created a wall of flames not too far from Kirb, just in the path of the nearest Redead...who wasn't very pleased as he was quickly incinerated. It wouldn't keep up for much longer, he thought, but the wall might snap whatever hold they had on Kirb. Not taking a chance, Sky cautiously advanced via a more circuitous route to get behind the larger group of creatures.

Sky: I certainly don't mind the rush, I just questioned the need to get rid of all of them if the person might not want to leave the house anyway. So, shall I do the honors, or would you like to smash the door in?

Sky: Well, after we knock, I mean.

Sky looks at the boy sprawled on the ground and winces.

"That's one hell of a blow to the head you gave him...though I'd say he deserved it. Look, kid, I'm coming with you whether or not you like it. You really shouldn't be out there on your own what with your attitude, and you need somebody to watch out for you. I've got some of the same goals in mind, too, so there's no reason it shouldn't be me. You remind me of myself, actually."

Sky walks over and extends a hand to Arminas to help him up.

"You've got potential, and I'd hate to see it used the wrong way."

In the interests of fun, I would request a name change as well. I think "Flying Fish" might be appropriate...

Perhaps the names of all the reasonably active users should be changed for a day or so, until such time as the admins get dozens of whiny "change it baaaaaaaaaaaack" messages...

Curtis finds himself on the ground again, the back of his head hurting rather badly, but he can't figure out why. No one notices Sky's left hand as the glow fades from it under his cloak, and the warrior smiles as he uses his other hand to pick Arminas off the ground.

Sky: No need to worry about it. The more the merrier, so long as everyone is pulling his weight in the group. I could lead if you told me where to go, or whoever you think is most appropriate. I've only gotten a quick survey of the island so far, so I have only some idea of what's around where.

I prefer the Catfish from Lufia II...and a catfish basically is a carp anyway...if not the same thing. I don't know, I'm not good with fish.

"Unless your friend is going to help us fend off this rather large problem, you need to get your priorities in line. And it's Strato, by the way."

Around them, the buildings seemed to be trembling. The promised foes appeared to be approaching rather quickly, and they meant business.

"But I don't care what we're doing after this, since we have serious issues on our hands right now. Less talk, puffball, and more getting ready for a fight."

*************

At the same moment that Evan kicked at the girl, the hole in the barrier had started to open. It was far too small to do anything with, but it showed that the barrier was breaking down, if only slightly, by use of the remote magic strike. The real danger, Aether knew, was that now that there was a hole in the barrier the strangely strong little girl would notice and do something about it. Aether cursed herself for her methods. She had sacrificed stealth for speed by using this method rather than weakening a larger area before the first actual penetration of the barrier.

I think a bunch of fish going fishing is some sort of marvelous zen, the likes of which has never been seen before.

I mean, unless we're anglers already, in which case it's just old hat bottomfeeding.

The only series I haven't seen at this point is ZZ, past the first few episodes. A lot of manga and the like I haven't read either, but as far as animation goes, I've seen pretty much all of it at this point.

I really recommend Victory and X to anyone...Zeta's awesome, but everyone knows that...these two are, I think, the most underrated UC and AU series, respectively.
