I've rarely had such a problem with AIM, though lately one sn in particular has been sending me (constantly) trojan links and in a rather obvious manner ("she" said something along the lines of "look at my pics!" and the link very obviously ended in .exe)...

MSN, however, I get a lot of people who apparently think I'm someone else, someone who's about 10 years younger than I am, and whose friends are idiots. He must be an idiot too if he can't give them the right email address.

Allow list may be the only option, but I tend to be rather nice about letting new people contact me, since they're usually not that bad, and it's particularly important when one of my friends gets a new sn that I be able to stay in contact easily.

The problem with just blocking is that there tends to be an inverse relationship between intelligence and number of screen names, in many cases.

Perhaps I've just not been paying close enough attention to the gaming community lately, but I would have expected that good or bad we'd have heard a lot of general impressions regarding the game since the Japanese release was several months ago, but I've heard relatively little. I am certainly very much looking forward to this game, though.

Sky: Isn't that exactly what I suggested doing a few minutes earlier, before we started fighting the gibdos? Jeez, take my suggestion as your own, why don't you.

With that, Sky forcefully opened the door and walked inside. He quickly shut it and looked at the party with a rather embarassed look.

Sky: Erm, it seems the inhabitant was preparing for a bath...but now knows that we're here and is probably putting on a towel or something.

Nova: Megaton hammer? Nah, this thing isn't anything special, just something I cooked up at one point.

With that, Nova took a rather comical position of charging up the 'fortress' banging down everything in sight with his hammer, actually serving to create a rather smooth road for those following.

Sky quickly turned to Arminas.

Sky: Just make sure to watch out when you do leave...I hardly think it's just on this island that people would be out for...whatever it is they wanted with her.

Cassandra: Aren't we getting a bit ahead of ourselves? We're still stuck in this underground ruin.

Sky: Erm, yes, that is something of a problem. Onward, then!

Is Googie actually 31? Is anyone in that age group on the boards actually being honest about their age?

Either way, happy birthday Googie, it's the same as my mum's.

That's the way I and most of my friends and most people in general in the US that I've seen eat. Plus, on the info packet they gave us on cultural things in Britain, they made a mention of the way of holding eating utensils, which suggests it's different from the US.

I think this means you should go to the US so you're not eating like a freak anymore

Actually, Sion, no, that wasn't you. You had an AIM trojan that did something similar, but that just happened the once. This one has happened several times before I blocked the person.

Sky: Well, you really are a spoony bard, aren't you?

Cassandra smacks the magewarrior upside the head.

Sky: Ow, what was that for?

Cassandra: I don't even know. It just felt like something I needed to do at the time.

Sky: Erm, ok...nice to meet you, Pioshi! What are you doing here?

Basically, it comes out to farm subsidies, farmers being paid not to grow crops to keep food prices up...helps the farmers, but not so good for everyone else. Infrastructure is something of a problem as well...it's rather difficult to get corn from Iowa to Ethiopia.

I'm not a bookie, Colin, I don't know what odds would be good. Also, I would have some insider info, so I think it would be illegal for me to offer odds.

Wow, exactly what we needed. I'm sure Kirb will probably stay up all night creating something on the Story Forum and the like on this.

I guess I will have to do some of the writing for the section on manda, seeing as I know more than a lot of others here...

Trunxy, I promise that I will make that scene, and other memorable FF scenes, upon my return to the states. Be sure to remind me in a few weeks in case this thread goes under.

One thing that a lot of people seem to miss is the proper Lenten spirit...and I'm happy to see that some of you already seem to have overcome that, which a lot of my college Catholic friends don't get. In fact I myself didn't *really* understand it until a Lenten reflection last year.

It's not about giving up something for sacrificing it, for punishing yourself, or whatever other reasons a lot of people seem to see. The point of giving up something for Lent is to take a step back and examine your life, and see what parts of your life are on the border of being obsessions, of taking up far too much of your attention than a relationship with God and closeness with the people who care about you. You get rid of those things (or take up something positive) and you're better able to connect with these things. That's the idea.

Unless you're really obsessed with chocolate, probably not the best thing to give up, for example. But if your swearing puts people off sometimes, or at times consumes you in a sense, that'd be a good thing to 'give up'...

As for me, this year, I'm not really sure, I'll have to think about it.

Well, one thing about that Wurl is that I'm pretty sure you injected some of your own views into the events and transformed them into a bit more insidious than they actually were in order to make a point. While what happened sucked, there's a good chance that there wasn't bribery and the like involved and that in fact there was some bad sensationalist reporting due in part to personal desires for fame...as for bribery, I'm wondering if you have documentation or if that's just speculation. I'm not saying you're wrong, because I'm not familiar with the case enough to say so, but that's a pretty strong statement if you don't have some evidence.

Well, I'm not really familiar with the Tycoon games, and it does resemble a SimCity game to the untrained eye. I may need to check it out if I ever decide I love trains again...which could always come by discovering my old box of Brio stuff down in the basement when I get home.
