The magewarrior smiled a bit inwardly. Perhaps the guy wasn't all talk after all. Still, no need to go all out before he was certain.

Sky: Well, now I think you've crossed a bit of a line.

At that, Sky swung his legs back, and then to the front to catch Evan in the jaw...or at least where he suspected the jaw probably was below the mass of...stuff...and continued into a backflip as he forced himself from the hulking man's grip, landing a short distance away. In a single motion, as if bouncing from the ground where he landed, he jumped forward with his shield in front of him, charging into Evan and sending out a shockwave which should be able to send even a larger man than him over the rim of the temple and falling down the stairs.

Strato shrugged as he saw the strange being rising up in the air, and as he did so a small silver sphere flew from his jacket. He didn't seem to notice, and looked at his adversary. Silly aliens, thinking the whole planet was like one area. And if they were anything like most invaders, the decker mused, one of their own getting beat up by a local would send them packing. This was, then, a heroic endeavor from what had just been a general survey mission. It could turn into a fun day after all. Figuring the invader deserved a response, Strato delivered.

Strato: Yeah. Watch out for the world's gravity. It's a bit unpredictable.

As the decker finished his sentence, he squinted a bit. That was one of the downsides of his own magic...it looked a bit more effortful than it was. It ended up being rather effective, though, as Zexni found himself pulled into a gravity well emanating from the small sphere, which upon activation had forced itself underground. Once the warrior had been pulled down to the ground, the force shifted a bit from a vertical pull to a more general one, and the invader found himself beset by all manner of stone that forced itself around him in an attempt to crush him among rocks beneath the ground.

Strato figured this probably wouldn't finish off his adversary, and stayed where he was to gird himself for a counterattack.

((Two things...first, I never said the shockwave was going to be along the ground, think of it, if you need an example, as the Jupiter+Griffin card combination in Castlevania: CotM. Secondly, and much more largely, that's a stupid and downright CHEAP method of fighting. But if you're going to do it, then I see no reason why I shouldn't))

Sky wasn't about to just let this behemoth twirl and toss him, which it quickly became obvious he was trying to do, and it wasn't too hard to cast a small binding spell to the man's legs. When Evan released the magewarrior, shortly afterwards he found himself pulled quite rapidly from the ground on which he stood. Sky, not really want to be bound to the musclehead any longer than necessary, released it and landed, a bit harder than he would have liked, on the temple steps, and watched as Evan crashed into one of the statues on the lower part of the temple. The brute had been a bit quicker than Sky had expected, but the magewarrior knew he wouldn't be pulling any tricks like that again. If indeed Evan lived here, it seemed it was time to send him an eviction notice.

The magewarrior wore an awkward grin. Either this guy was dumber than he looked, in which case, Sky figured, he would need to be reminded to breathe now and then, or he was making a concerted effort to make things weird for everyone. Either way, his ORB seemed to be genuine, so they were stuck with him.

Sky: Erm...no apology necessary for me, she's not my girlfriend. We just met. I'd be happy to talk about the ORBs over a flagon of ale, though. Care to join us, Seraphim?

Sky sighed. This was going to be an interesting journey.

((I'm...reasonably certain I know what the issue is, but Sky hasn't really had any contact with Nobodies, so even if I'm right he doesn't exactly know))

Sky was somewhat confused as to where his opponent may have come from to be on the shore there, as he saw no vehicle and had felt no obvious wave of energy emanating from self-propelled motion. Perhaps, he mused, this being harnessed some sort of energy with which the magewarrior was not familiar. He seemed to be hostile, but at the same time Sky wouldn't rule out merely confusion, and took the opportunity to ascertain his potential opponent's intentions.

Sky: I'm not about to be used by anyone. What is it that you want?

Not liking the close proximity, and wanting to give the man some space so as to avoid provoking unneeded hostility, Sky leapt backwards, landing softly in the sand with barely an indentation. He put his hand on the hilt of his sword but did not yet draw it, throwing a quizzical look at the silvery being.

"GRIME" however would have failed to determine the presence or absence of a U.

I really don't think something like that should count...though on the other hand, other instances of impossibilities (that is, words using letters which were stated not to be in the word, or not in certain positions) have been counted.

Xanaphia's training was interrupted by a break in the silence of the area, as she heard a very loud SLUUUUUUUUUUUUUURP coming from one of the few seating areas which was not completely broken. Sitting there was a girl who couldn't have been more than 17, eating some popcorn and having just finished a jumbo-sized cup of some sort of pop. Obviously very much a tomboy, her mannerisms and rather casual style of dress only thinly masked a beautiful young girl, with long wavy hair such a dark purple most thought it black, left flowing around her head. She wore the odd combination of a simple green fighter's gi beneath magenta wizard's robes, which were bunched up as she sat back in the old stone seat. Seeing that she'd been noticed, the girl flashed Xanaphia a big toothy smile and a peace sign with the hand which had been holding her drink.

This guy got to the point rather quickly, Sky thought, as he dove backwards to avoid the silvery vines, raising his arms as he did so. The vines broke through the sand that lifted up from the ground, scattering a dusty mist of sorts about the beach, but were shortly thereafter shattered by the large rock which came up just a few feet from the man who had introduced himself as Wileam. The magewarrior leapt over the still-moving disconnected vines to kick the rock down hard on where he hoped his opponent still stood, bounding off that to land several meters behind where the man had been. Sky drew his sword and looked at the rock as it sat on the beach.

Sky: If you know what's good for you, I would recommend you stay under there.

The sword never connected, and Xana didn't even have to do anything, as Hector found himself kicked in the head and knocked to the side by a blurry green and magenta figure, who finished up the move smoothly as she flipped and landed several yards away, again grinning and flashing a quick peace sign before settling into a fighting stance facing Hector and Xana, fists at the ready.

???: Going for a power stroke already? You've got no class. Battles are all about finesse and style, after all, most of the time.

The girl, who had leapt from her seat earlier to face Xana, only to find someone else in her way, had decided a bit of fun was in order, and this seemed as good a way as any to do it. The other warriors could really see that "girl" was indeed the appropriate term, as the already battle-hardened warrior still retained her youthful appearance. It was all in the genes, she had always suspected, as both of her parents seemed relatively ageless. She smiled at the two, at least one of whom would likely attack her soon.

???: Name's Aether. Time to have some fun, don't you think?

Aether prepared herself to intercept a hit from Xana, when, as seemed to be par for the course already in this battle, she was interrupted, this time by an object rocketing into the melee that had been about to start. The girl braced herself for the impact of an explosion that never came. Seeing the dome mirror, she decided she'd have to thank Hector later, but changed her mind, thinking sooner would be better.

With that in mind, she dove at Xana, executing a sweepkick on the warrior who seemed a bit stunned by what had just happened, twirling around again to hit her with a hammerblow, hoping to knock her in the direction of Hector and Pie. Confusion, Aether thought, was always a blast to sow into a battle.

The magewarrior chuckled.

Sky: Hasn't anyone bought you a drink before? He said he's treating us, so no need to worry. Which is good, since I don't have much on me either, and I need to get some new equipment.

((Yes, I know it's a lot of text for not much action...but I started writing in a certain style and had fun with it))

Aether would have wondered how an opponent tripped up by a sweep kick could dodge her next attack, and she would have laughed at Hector's lack of name recognition in the minds of the fighters...and had she possessed psychic powers, she would have been offended at being thought of as a pre-teen.

She did not have time to consider these matters, however, as Xana seemed intent on continuing the whirling machinations their fight had taken on, with her own spin kick. Fortunately, Aether didn't have to do much to react, already having been rather low to the ground in order to hit what she had assumed would be a stunned opponent. It took, then, only a bit of work to lay flat as Xana spun above her.

It was time for someone's hit to actually connect, Aether would have said to herself had she had time to narrate the fight's course. Instead, she put that thought into action, as she sprung from her prone position to elbow her opponent in the back just as the latter, in mid-spin, had turned away from her.

Sky smiled at the thief walking alongside him. This would certainly be an amusing journey if she came along. He spoke in hushed tones, hoping Arus wouldn't hear.

Sky: Just think of this as him repaying you for not hurting him after his awful attempt at picking you up. I'd say a few drinks'd do it.

What's your definition of an English word? It's at least as much one as some form of African currency, which was the LINGO word at one point. It's got a reference at both dictionary.com and m-w.com, not even needing the unabridged versions to find. There is NO reason to be taking off a point for that. It's not like it's a proper name or anything.

HAIRS

delete & repost for not actually editing: Not only is it online, gammy appears in my tabletop Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (Tenth Edition), and in fact does not even include the "informal" part in it, suggesting that this is not there to debase its legitimacy as a word so much as to explain it.

The Red Mage started at the sight of the sack of gil.

Sky: Holy hell, that's a lot of money. Where'd you GET all that, anyway?

This blockhead sure had a way with people, for better or worse. His straightforward manner was rather amusing. It had also been a while since Sky had had really good ale, so he hoped the bar had some good stuff on hand.

Just as he was relaxing in his chair, the group was approached by a rather determined-looking Black Mage, who addressed Sky directly. The Red Mage shot the fellow a confused glance.

Sky: That IS my name, but...how did you know it? Who are you, anyway?

Aether smiled as Forte came down towards the ground. This was turning into a very interesting day indeed. Crouching briefly, she pushed herself hard off the ground, passing Forte a ways away going a bit more slowly in the other direction. She watched as the move made a crater in the ground and disrupted other fights that were going on, and adjusted her trajectory slightly so that when she landed, she did so on the Maverick Hunter's head, pushing him a bit further into the bottom of the crater before bounding off and landing a few meters away. She faced him and put up her fists in a fighting stance.

Aether: Come on, afraid of a little one on one?

I feel the need to note that I never clicked that link, and am not sure how I came to be banned. My best guess is that this morning, while I was not signed in, I went to online.php and clicked a banned someone's "index.php?powerlevel=1" which is where they were, and then without thinking to change pages logged in, and became banned because of it. I don't know if that would do it, but...that's the only thing I can think of that might've done it. The Red Mage quickly got up and placed himself between Adamant and Seraphim, and turned to the Black Mage.

Sky: Whoa, whoa, whoa there, buddy. We just met you, and you're trying to recruit her for your little mission? Seems like you know a bit more than you should. What's your angle, anyway?

Sky put a hand in his cloak, grasping a small dagger he kept for close quarters combat. This guy, he thought, might be a friend, but he might also be big trouble.
