Well, as far as Pascal's Wager goes, it's like I told you yesterday about how the Catholics see it...there are many ways you can go to get to salvation...but some paths are better at getting you there than others. And belief in some God, even if "the wrong one" is likely to be regarded as better than atheism in the presence of a deity.

Meanwhile I did something useful and contacted Xk and Acmlm, both of whom looked into it quickly.

So are we inhuman, then, or are we insufficient in number, or not "good enough" people or what?
That video is.............interesting. |

Other people seem to think so too.
This is one of the results from searching Badonkadonk on Google Image Search. |

And the prize for worst post comprehension of the night goes to....ZIFF!
Originally posted by Plus Sign Abomination Right there, Ziff, right there. That's exactly what I'm talking about. You have nothing to substantiate it, because there's nothing there. If it were there, you're right, common sense would show it, it would reveal itself and not require "vibes" or people like you to "reveal" what's hidden in his meanings. EXACTLY what I was talking about. Right in the same post. Originally posted by Plus Sign Abomination You seem to miss my point. I'm not saying you're playing the victim. I'm saying you were accusing SS and I of being overly defensive, pretending to be victimized, called bigots and the like...and then what do you do but do just that, suggest VERY STRONGLY (as do others) that we are indeed bigots. Yeah, it's really paranoia for us to feel like people would say that... |

Eh, it's not so much people not being able to read as wanting to believe that the government would do something like this. Self-confirming hypotheses tend to disregard contradictory facts.

While Acmlm was using FTP access, Xk shut off access to anyone but him, so Milly ended up just taking a seat again and waiting while Xk fixed it.
Are they the only ones with access? |

Wow, not just another day over 500, but...over 600? And judging by Ziff, SS, Thoughtless and I at the top, it seems debating was the order of the day. Certainly better than spam.

Is this because we're not obsessed with Mario stuff, or some other reason?
And if we're not people enough, then we shall have to become... CYBORGS! |

Well, it may be possible to remap your keyboard slightly, so if there's some other key you rarely use, you could get it to make a period, maybe...

Papercuts. Papercuts are really awful, and quite painful. One summer, I worked in the file room at a law firm, and I think I got more papercuts that summer than I have in my entire life before or since then.

My point was that liberals like to play the "vibes" and "hidden meanings" game and accuse anyone who's moderate to conservative of being bigots because of these...which is exactly what you did, after suggesting that no one does that.
I would say my side has ALL the evidence needed to prove the point. |

The second movie made me really like Bonnie Tyler's "Holding out for a Hero" from that scene. I thought the movie was just ok overall...same for the first...but the end sequences for both the original and the sequel were great.

Well, there's a difference, I think, between a club organized by the students, and something the teacher is reading to the entire class. In the former case, the teacher isn't pushing anything on the students, they're choosing to be involved, and presumably their parents know they're involved as well. The problem is not a teacher being involved in moral teaching...the problem is a teacher deciding to push his/her morality on the students without the parents having any say in the matter.
Edit: didn't read the link before...it doesn't really say clearly what the students are actually doing, so I can't really give an opinion on that. (edited by Skydude on 04-27-06 11:53 AM) |

By definition, no, but in general, most straight guys don't tend to like looking at scantily clad men
As for the burned retinas...exaggeration, obviously, of that sentiment. |

No, they decided they were alright with gay marriage. They didn't decide they were alright with the teacher teaching that morality.
For an example on the other side of the spectrum, Texas supports the death penalty. Would it be alright if teachers read kids stories in support of that without the parents' consent? |

Really I don't see why 5000 is the magical number, since I'm not sure what it is that makes it SO MUCH BIGGER once it gets past that (especially if it's 5000 replies, in which case it's just as many pages as 5019 replies...)
I just never really got that. |

It's now been 10 days since Grey last responded in this.
Then again, it's been about as long since I was active in the SF, if not longer...whoops. |
