You know, this thread title is missing the closing parenthes...is? I think that's the right word.

I'm just glad he stopped at the staff, since he had time to continue to do more annoyances before he stopped.

I think you both missed quite a bit of the thrust of my argument, which SS explained in greater detail.

To max, no, it's not like saying that. I'm not saying that people can't take a stand for anything, I'm saying that teachers shouldn't be foisting their morals on their students in contentious issues of morality, which this currently is in the US.

To NSN, again, it's not just that it's the norm, it's the norm of a rather contentious issue. Kids need to know about it, they need to discuss it, etc...but their parents are better to discuss the morals with than a politically-minded teacher. As I was telling Arwon last night on AIM, I would be just as upset with an overtly anti-homosexual book being read by teachers.

Well, I don't think he meant the user should get banned, it was more one of those irony things...and I think you said something similar yourself.

Kind of funny who the actual 1337th registered user was...

Darn, if it hadn't been for all those crappy letters in the latter half of the game, I would've forced an owned sticker on Colin

Jeez, looks like after I lose to bass I'll have to wait a while for my next match...

If those become huge political issues, we might see those things, and depending on the nature of the movement, I may or may not support that.

At the moment, at least, they're not, so no harm, no foul.

THANK YOU ASDF

I really didn't think they could possibly be doing what was claimed. Good to finally have some source explaining that.

That reminds me of what I like to call the inverse law of nudity. That is, the less you would like to see someone naked, the more likely you are to see them naked.

I recall seeing this before, and really, what you have to realize is that there are an infinite number of variables that you can use as numbers, such that you can manipulate them to get them to say something just like that. I also seem to recall reading in an article on that that the flight number they used to "prove" this was wrong anyway, making it even more meaningless.

Err, this is definitely overreacting, and some rather vague information in the original post. The original site suggests the law, if passed, would get rid of Net Neutrality. That would, I agree, be a big problem. From what I can tell, the law, if passed, would ensure Net Neutrality happens. Which would be a good thing. But the law failing, as it did, doesn't mean Net Neutrality is abandoned. The FCC couldn't do anything about it before, and we had things just fine. It's not as dire as they make it out to be.

But with the multitude of Scrabble games played, odds are it should probably happen at some point. After all, any combination of letters is equally likely, if you look at each A as an individual tile rather than an A...doing it that way (which is...more accurate, granted)...is a decent amount more complex.

And yay! My thread is the official one!

People compared Bill to JFK, and my response to that is that Kennedy at least had good taste. I mean, seriously, infidelity is wrong, but if you're going to do it, Marilyn Monroe seems a good choice, not some frumpy intern...

There are a number of factual inconsistencies and, as usual, misleading statements in that, such as suggesting that all 14,000 reported ballots in that district were invalid...they said it was a strongly Republican area...he probably would've gotten a similar boost anyway, EVEN IF these dubious reports are to be believed. I get a bit suspicious of things that take this long to come out, with, again, dubious and biased sources.

Because there's nothing to explain! They're meaningless! For example, 1 + 7 + 5 -2...you said subtract two because it was the second flight...but why subtract? Why not add, multiply, divide, take it to that power or root, take the log with that base, or any number of other operations?

Why?

I'll tell you why. Because it's arbitrary, and it gets an answer that makes you think there's something special where there isn't.

I also find it rather hypocritical that earlier in the thread you were talking about people playing the victim of being accused of exactly the things you've been accusing people of just today!

Well, you can get one custom-made for you if you happen to have $20,000 lying around. The geniuses in the LSJUMB who came up with that didn't stop there, though. Oh no. This fall, they added flame jets (rather large ones, too) to the exterior, and they work quite well. They also made a miniature remote-controlled version of the vehicle...the Bedinkadink.

I know that by quoting Ann Coulter I'll automatically be labeled a staunch conservative, but the woman makes a good point:

"[Democrats] accuse Republicans of speaking in 'code words.' This is one of the most enraging twists on the left's refusal to debate. Since authentically racist behavior would be apparent on its face, the concept of 'code words' allows liberals to call anyone a racist."

For that, substitute homophobe for racist, and you've got the same thing. Basically, there's no evidence, so they make up this "I get this vibe" or "code words" talk in order to proclaim what they believe. If it's such an established fact, do you really need the code words? Shouldn't it speak for itself if it's that blatant?

Sadly, a lot of people do fall into those categories. And then there are those of us who aren't that great at meeting people and try every reasonable outlet to try to do so. I think the thread creator may fall into that topic as well.
