Zomies lolz indeed. Glad to see that maybe, just maybe, this could make it to 5000 after all.

I too am not familiar with "bednr" and am curious about it.
That is some pretty sad "hacking" though. I suppose it was rather obvious given the course of events, though, and I probably should have been able to get it from his changing Nick's name to his own and working from there... |

We're past 500 posts for the day. I guess good can come out of bad, or something like that, is the lesson to learn.

So does this most recent event merit an article?

How about because it's rather obviously politically motivated?

But I was tied for 10th, which I don't really count.

Well, when I said it was obviously politically motivated, I was referring more to the teacher's reading of it than the author's intentions.
And homosexuality is not inherently political...but at the moment, it is, and as such, like any issue of that sort, it's not the place for school teachers to be teaching the morality of it and superceding the parents. |

Arwon, get your facts straight. Taken from the official website:
"Plan BŪ may also work by preventing it from attaching to the uterus (womb)" Wikipedia, as a source not trying to get your money, makes it a bit clearer: "prevent ovulation or fertilisation, or the subsequent implantation of a fertilised egg (zygote)." You're wrong, wrong, wrong. If the egg has been fertilized, if it has become a zygote, it will be destroyed by this. "Plan B" is an abortifacient, not a contraceptive. |

To respond simply to both points, I don't think the teachers should take it upon themselves to decide what moral values to teach children. As for Dr. Suess, I would have opposed teachers foisting it upon children when the books first came out, yes. If the parents approved, fine. If not, then those parents who wanted to anyway could still get the book. I'm not for censorship at large, after all. In this case, if the parents are alright with it, fine, but otherwise, no, I don't think it's right. Perhaps eventually it can move towards the model you suggest, but I hardly think it's this teacher's place to decide when to do that.

And here I thought he was the purple one with a purse...
I think it's amazing how we have about 150% as many posts as the day before, what with all the problems caused. |

Well, I think the official website proclaiming it outright says enough.

I'm shocked it's not going faster now than it is. I would expect it to ROCKET to 5000 with how close it is.

This definitely sounds messed up. Do you have any resources FOR the measure? I really can't imagine anything like this could come about unless there were some real benefits, but I can't see at this point what those might be, and I'd like to be informed on the issue.

Darn, I knew there was something I should have been doing during my breaks from writing my essay last night (no sleep!)...missed the damn end of the thread.
So proud to have mine be the new one, though. Yay for recycling, YD! Like I recycled the can that held my Starbucks Doubleshot Espresso that helped me stay awake all night! I'm closing in on...26 hours awake now! |

My thoughts exactly. Note to self: listen to own reason from now on.

Eh, I think they're both valuable. The one has more inherent arbitrary value (and yes, I'm aware of the contradiction there, but I hope my point is clear)...but the 5000th reply gets the visible big round number (since threads have their number of REPLIES shown). |
