I think it's been established both that she has a gun fetish and that she's in horrible denial over it

I think we've rather overdone the joke, though...

Well, I think perhaps the best tactic is to bring up exactly what you've said here with your mother, directly. State point blank that you're not going to put up with it, and you're leaving if she doesn't stop being a bitch about it. You tell her that nothing she does is going to change your mind on it, so if she cares about you and wants you around, she'd better change how she acts. You're not going to get her to change how she thinks, but perhaps you can change how she acts if she does care about having her son around.

The torrent of the sub that I got quite some time ago was really high quality, so quality certainly isn't a reason...and I feel no need to see it again. Once someone buys it, be sure to post what the extras are, so I'll know if I need to justify not getting it on account of those or not...

This actually sounds like something of an interesting concept. Prequels can definitely be interesting, though the problem you often run into is that if you have a character in a prequel that isn't in the thing that comes later, you must dispose of him or her somehow. Not necessarily killing, but you need a reason why we never see that person again.

I like the idea of the giant orbiting shield. Expensive or not, I think the sheer awesomeness factor is worth something.

I would be shocked if the meat were still good after all this time.

I recommend throwing it at someone off the top of a building.

Except not. That would suck to get hit by an old sandwich.

I think there's only one important thing to say on the occasion of someone's 20th birthday:

Remember, you can no longer be an angsty teenager. Now, if you do it, you're an angsty 20-something, and that's just awkward.

Two things, I guess:

Congratulations on going another year without dying!

See, Amanda, you need to read between the lines in this article. The real thing that happens in this case is that videogames get out of their cases in the middle of the night and poke holes in any condoms in the residence. You'd better watch out, though, or they'll replace your pills with placebos! This new generation of games is getting smarter, after all...and more evil.

Well, I think part of the point of the original point was that, if man is not primarily at fault, if this is a natural phenomenon that has happened before and returned the climate to a stable state once more, then it may be that we don't necessarily need to work against it so hard depending on how much it detriments society to do so. Man may have only a very limited effect, such that it is corrected on its own by far more powerful forces.

I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, I'm just saying that's what the first post seems to suggest to me, and while I don't think you can dismiss it that quickly, it's something to consider that is rarely brought to the table of discussion on this issue.

Well, I think that once you get the tools up there to make the giant shield, it wouldn't be THAT much more work to turn that shield into a weapon of doom.

That actually sounds like an interesting movie plot, though one that's been done before I'm sure.

I'm rather curious to see the newsworthiness of this story, since more appears to be coming.

Particularly how it necessitates its own thread over this one.

That said, I think the movie is rather meh overall.

Trasper? I'm not familiar with that user

And the difference between Danielle and Trapster is that we like her...not that we DISliked Trapster (well, I can't speak for everyone, of course), but still.

And I like the smiley.

I got frustrated with 1 & 2 occasionally, but they were fun games. I started playing 3, but not too far in my focus got shifted onto another game and I still haven't played any farther. I've been meaning to pick it up again lately. I didn't even know the fourth one had been announced, let alone released.

Well, see, the thing about that "for people who use protection it should be an option" thing is that people KNOW that their "protection" isn't 100% effective, and they still choose to undertake in that action. This suggests that they are indeed willing to take the risk knowing full well that there is a risk, even if it is a small one. For that shield example, if you pull the trigger of the gun, you should be responsible for what happens, whether it's the 99% of the time the shield works, or the 1% it doesn't, since you know that it doesn't always work.

Let's shift the percentages, hypothetically. Let's say condoms are 50% effective (which doesn't mean the women is impregnated 50% of the time, since that can only occur during a select few days per month)...would you feel the same?

OK, well, I was somewhat wrong about "select few" but it tends to be less than 1/2, and as little as 1/3 of a typical cycle.

Read about the "rhythm method" for more info

In all fairness, that IS basically what anyone who expresses anything to the right of the far left in terms of political sentiment (for those who couldn't follow, that is the moderates and the conservatives) is automatically flagged as if they say anything regarding race or sexuality.

I'm speaking partly from experience as a moderate who has had this happen to me.

So I'm not even conservative and yet this happens to me. It's not a persecution complex because it's what actually occurs, at least on my college campus.

I could be wrong, Chaos, but I don't think there's a single word that fits with that. Did you forget a bold or underline somewhere?
