I'm surprised I haven't heard more about it than I have. Then again, most of the people I hang out with don't smoke up and therefore this day means pretty much nothing to them. Nor are they Neonazis, who I suppose would also find this day important.

Super Mario RPG is a really great game. Maybe I just prefer Squaresoft a bit more, if indeed it is more them than Nintendo, but I think it's a wonderful blend of both. I did, however, also enjoy Paper Mario quite a bit. If I ever get a Gamecube or the Revolution (once it comes out) I may need to get the sequel.

Burritos are good and all, but they pale as a snack food compared to taquitos. Now THOSE are just heavenly.

Certainly better than the Sim-Battle tournaments. The one I was in on an old board never got past the second round, many of the first-round matches in the one I organized never finished, and I think Kirb said he hasn't had any better luck.

No, what I said was that I liked the plan. I can't promise I'll be there, especially when I don't know when it is. I can just make every attempt to do so.

Well, you could look at it that way, or you could look at it the way I imagine they do...that is, a great way to kick off the day.

I think it should also be noted that we're hardly reproducing like rabbits. Countries in the Western world (that is, Europe and North America) at least, not sure about South America or Africa, actually have birth rates approximately at or below the "replacement" rate...which is in fact one of the reasons why social security is in huge trouble.

I think really the issue here may be somewhat regarding little more than terminology. I think that a discussion of this really needs a bit more defining terms than we've done, since that seems to be the basis of most of the disagreements. What are the factors that make a girl a "tomboy"? Which are "necessary" factors, and what is sufficient to establish a girl as one?

Booster was messed up...but funny. And I rather liked the whole fighting-the-living-weapons thing. Just seemed like a good basis for enemies. The start was also great, with going to beat Bowser right at the beginning, and THEN the game really begins.

The irony of it all, of course, was that the bomb was itself the prize which was sought after by the alien menace, who would only later realize their folly in ignoring it.

This would later lead to the uprising of the citizens on their home planet, and the ultimate ousting of Xanophobialisicthia in favor of a man known simply as "Ken"

Posted on 04-21-06 12:40 AM, in PS2 Platformers Link
Basically, this is a thread about platformers released for the PS2. I'm mostly a fan of RPG/Adventure games and some action titles, but I enjoy platformers from time to time. I thought to make this thread after playing through a bit of Maximo: Ghosts to Glory which I bought a few weeks ago for a mere $5.

If any of you have played Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, know that the gameplay feels somewhat familiar, though in a different setting and obviously not identical mechanics (though they feel similar oftentimes). The difference is not only in the difficulty, which is itself very different (Maximo is rather tough even towards the start), but it seems to me like the developers went out of their way to make the game as frustrating as they possibly could, in several senses. As such, I felt the need to put it down for the sake of my sanity.

I absolutely loved the Jak trilogy. Just wonderful games. Does anyone have any games they would recommend?

I don't really recall Stasis all that much. I don't really recall Blades all that much either, to be honest. In fact, I don't even remember whether he was among the group of people I liked, the group of people I disliked, or in neither camp.

Posted on 04-21-06 12:45 AM, in Censorship in China Link
So I'm sure most of you are probably aware of the debaucle Google has been facing these past few months after it agreed to censor searches based on criteria set forth by the Chinese government, in order to achieve market presence previously prohibited by the government there.

I think this is just really awful on Google's part. I think they could have stood up to pressure to censor and still been able to get into the Chinese market, simply because the Chinese government knows just how great Google is, and how much it would be losing out by not allowing it, even without censorship. This was just an easier way to make profits.

I'm...actually not sure what the current status of it is, if anything's changed, as I haven't really seen it in the news since it happened initially.

Thoughts?

Wait, wait, wait. You mean to tell me you hadn't played Earthbound before?

BLASPHEMY!

Though I suppose now is as good a time as ever to start, what with the release of Mother 3 in Japan. Now if only it would be translated, either by Nintendo or the ROM by someone on the internet. I'm sure it likely will be one way or the other...right?

Posted on 04-21-06 05:38 AM, in British Comedy, anyone? Link
I've been getting a bit more good British comedy lately, more Monty Python, from a CD my parents got me for Christmas. "The Final Rip Off" which is quite funny. Some bits from Holy Grail, and a lot from what I assume is Flying Circus.

Judging as well from the nice hardback book my parents got me as well the previous year, they seem to think I'm a bit more interested in the Pythons than I am...funny stuff, but they seem to think I'm obsessed

One thing about SMRPG is that it really wasn't all that difficult to get to the maximum level, not very time-consuming at all. Which meant there was only so much overpoweredness you could have, which I would consider a very good thing overall.

Um....someone broke the tables (edit: only in reply view, it seems). I think either YD or Thoughtless...likely thoughtless, which I'm guessing mostly because of the marquee.

And as for (semi) fast food, I have to go with Chipotle. Now that's some good stuff.

I have an email sitting in my inbox about selling Chinese golf tees. Just a bit odd.

The funniest spam I ever got, though, was...(spoilered for possibly offensive)
