Like I said, just wait until you get into college, and then things'll get a lot better...

While my high school didn't have an anime club, I was relatively fortunate in that there were a few other friends of mine with whom I shared interests of that sort...I guess in a way that was a sort of "support group" for the lot of us

I didn't say it was balanced...just that it had a melee weapon, which you said it didn't. And Roby was certainly a much more interesting pilot to watch, such that the Leopard became one of my favorite MS from the series, unlike Heavyarms, which just isn't that great (the regular Heavyarms and Sandrock are the only Gundams that didn't get a 1/100 scale model release).

0079 isn't that bloody, not too many people die, and even in Zeta, most of them are in the last few episodes, with a few notable exceptions. You want real uncertainty as to who's going to survive (though I suppose in a way it's often knowing someone will die and trying to figure out who), look at V Gundam. I think Tomino was off his antidepressants writing that one.

The top 3 is already completely determined, the only uncertainty there is who gets 2nd and who gets 3rd. Even if asdf didn't post and XKeeper got 1st the rest of the time, there're only 6 days left so he'd be a point behind.

I suppose I should have come back a week sooner to introduce some uncertainty into the top 3

Too bad, really, since it's pretty cool. I think we should come up with another justification for having red names so they can come back.

And cat day tomorrow?

The geocide in fiction section is particularly amusing. But really, isn't annihilating all life enough? Isn't actually destroying the entire planet a bit overkill for even the most evil beings?

Sky: Damn, you are hot, but I think you need to chill out a bit!

The blasts of fire stopped spewing from the magewarrior's hands, which glowed once more, before sending a blast of ice at the fountain of lava. A good portion of the flow hardened, into rock, but the force of the blast prevented that from being the end of it. Danielle soon found herself plowed into by the icy, rocky mass.

Sky: That's not going to stop her, but it ought to show her we mean business.

With the brief break he would have from the purple-haired taunter, Sky lept into the fray, swinging his now electrically-charged sword about and cleaving through the ranks of soldiers.

*****

Cassandra appeared more concerned now than before. She turned to Lucas.

Cassandra: Where are we? What do we do from here?

Nova turned to Hikari.

Nova: If they're hiring someone like her to protect Mitra...in some way, anyway...then it's probably more serious than we know. *turns to Nijote* So who hired you, anyway? They might be able to tell us more about this.

Well, I suppose if you're going to build a hyperspace bypass through an area, it's probably necessary to do that.

"From what I heard," Sky remarked, "you've been gone for quite some time yourself."

The bartender came over, and Sky decided to start off rather easy, ordering a pint of Guinness. As he waited for his drink, he turned again to Anya.

"I thought things were a bit tough around here, just a bit against the kind of life I wanted to be leading, so I took off for a bit to do some training, some thinking, and some soul searching. I'm not sure exactly how much I'll stick around, but I should be around for a while at least."

"Your team?" Sky asked, as he took the beer the bartender had given him and took a drink. "I'm not sure what you're referring to. Sometimes some time alone is really for the best, though, as you realize what's important to you, and what really doesn't matter as much as you thought. And then when you've done that, it's nice to come back to something you've missed for a while."

Sky sighed.

"But really, much as you'd like to think otherwise, things change, and the place you come back to just isn't the place you left. It's pretty troubling."

Nova: I understand that very well, but I've never been one to just let trouble come to me. I like to go to the source. Whoever hired you to protect her probably has some idea about a greater threat to her...and why she's in so much trouble. So it's really in your best interests, as if I take out whoever's threatening her, protecting her will be pretty easy.

Nova: Hey, I bought the lady a drink, and she's a cute one; why shouldn't I be friendly?

Nova, still mounted on the sabrecat, decided not to press the point, and took off after the man on the horse. That Mitra was picked up again so quickly made him wonder what more there was to her...but it must've been big.

I never said there was anything wrong with it; in fact, I think that's one of the reasons Manda insisted that it was important, because she was supposed to be better with capricorns or something

The only time Kal's fight song is remotely acceptable is when it's accompanied by the appropriate lyrics. Are you familiar with "The Dirty Golden Bear"? I'm not sure it would be appropriate to post, at least after the first verse.

I am certainly afraid of these drawings. And if there's going to be a cat-themed drawing, include Rydain too...unless it's going to be sexual in nature, in which case don't draw ANY of them because that's just wrong.

Ockham's Razor is one of the most commonly misused principles. Basically, it says not that the simpler explanation is better, but that given two equally predictive theories, the simpler one is more likely the correct one. Moreover, the use of "simpler" is not as ambiguous as you or he make it out to be; a translation of the original is "shave off [omit] unnecessary entities in explanations" (hence the razor). Basically, don't make too many assumptions.

It's also an overused principle, in cases where it's hard to enumerate the exact assumptions. It really doesn't say too much at all in a scientific sense; it's more of a general guideline, along the lines of "Keep It Simple, Stupid!"

The soldiers were stronger than he had expected, not like most grunt troops, and though he'd felled quite a few, it seemed like they just kept coming. This was a losing battle. Jumping to a bit higher ground gave him some breathing space after Rufus's announcement.

Sky: Leaving the party already, wild man? Sorry to hear it, but I guess the odds are against us. I'm not about to go down in a blaze of glory today, but I can help slow your pursuers.

At that, the magewarrior's hands glowed brighter than they had before, and a wall of flame headed at the bulk of the troops not already engaged with the bandits. The few at the line of creation of the wall were incinerated, while the others were pushed back by the immense heat, forced to retreat almost to the edge of the cliff. Just before they would have been pushed off, there was an earsplitting crack, and shards of rubylike crystal fell from Sky's gauntlet. Just then, the flames stopped. Sky was dazed for a moment, and then gave a meek smile.

Sky: ...guess I overdid that one. Sorry, cutie, but this is where I make my exit!

And with that, the magewarrior bolted into the cave.
