And you know what that means?
It means that we need some new screenshots with both, the new GFX and the new outdoor areas!

Hi!

I'm a starting Super Metroid hacker from Finland and I have been reading these forums for few years now (as you can see from my profile I have registered this account ~year ago, but I had an account before the last wipe too).

I have been practicing SM hacking for about two months now and I can now quite correctly use most of the features of SMILE and I also understand basic concepts of ROM and "direct" hacking of ROM. My current hacking plans include SM hack of the size of 15-25 rooms, nothing too ambitious and big, because I want to be careful.

I'm also quite skilled with some programming languages including (Visual) basic and C++. For example I started Zelda 2 (NES) editor, but never finished it. Features I got implemented were basically tile and tile graphics loading from the ROM.

I'm big fan of NES Mario, Zelda and Metroid series (and hacking of them), and the reason I want to get approved is that I can post in the threads concerning them, and also to ask questions regarding SMILE and Hyrule Magic (and I can give no-spam guarantee).

Some examples of my practice-takes on SM:

I think you are on the right track. The easiest way (I know) to get correct XY-values is to toggle "Preferences->View->Options->Show Scroll Areas" on and track the values that way with the grid. It's quite simple and you can easily see and count the coordinates. Remember that they start from the number 0.

Amazing! Finally an actually complete hack for LTTP. I have been waiting for this to be released for so looong time.

I just tested this for a couple of minutes and I have to say that even though the overall look is fantastic, the grammar is bad. It's very burdening to read text with some basic errors in almost (maybe I'm exaggerating ) all sentences. I think you should hire some native english-speaker from the community to check the game monologue.

But aside from that, the hack or should I say the new game looks and feels amazing, and I'm sure I will enjoy this for a long time.

To be honest all suits except gravity suit look awful.

Power suit looks like you have changed the palette randomly. There is no connection between colors and different parts of the suit.

Varia suit's colors are changed in a same ratio scale and relation, which is a good thing and leads to "smooth" looking look, but the colors are way too glaring and saturated. I'd like it better if the colors were little bit less saturated and that those blue and green parts would connect more smoothly. You could for example add some blue to green parts and in contrary add some green to those blue parts.

All the suits work perfectly in any situation include shinespark, heated rooms etc. (It has been an issue in previous hacks where suits will change back to the default during charges or heated rooms)

Well, that's not actually very big deal, because SMILE's beauty saloon has very easy to use tools for changing palettes and adding different type of "heat glow"-effects on them.

I recommend that you work a little more on your hack and maybe implement some more content before announcing it here and releasing it. I wouldn't download a hack
with only simply changed suit-colors.
