Wow. This is a tough choice for me

Mine would have to be a tie from Schala's Theme (CT) or Edgar's Theme (FF3) I like them both equally, but meh...too tough to decide which is better.

That shotgun completely wins.

@Lespna: Most of the screens are fine, but I think when he said the castle is glitched, he was talking about the BG palette in the 3rd screen. It looks a bit odd - I suggest just brightening the colour a bit and it should be fine. One more quick thing - in the 5th screen (ice blocks and blockers) change the BG. It looks a bit strange.

And now, for my third-last screenies (the crowd says "WHAT? NOOOOOZORS!") But really, I'd like to keep the final world a surprise...so here is 5-6 for now - Poochey and the Egg.

Yoshi found his lil doggy friend trapped...look at him cry...isn't it sad?

And just because the level has a cute dog in it, doesn't mean it's going to be easy. It's not easy at all. It's hard. Oooooooooo.

Comments?

Update time

----------------------------------------

All four players feel a bit hungry.

-----------------------------------------

(((((FABIO)))))

You stick your castle key into the lock, and turn. The key, and the lock, disintigrate to dust. You open the door and enter a new hall. The flames on the torches of the wall are three colours - red, yellow, and blue. The hall continues to the very end where there is a steel barred door. On the ground, you see many misshapen stones.

(((((CIRVANTE)))))

You push the down button. The elevator dings, and shakes momentarily. You then press the door button, and the door opens slowly. The elevator is disgusting - mold is caked on the walls, and bloody chains dangle from the roof of it. On the wall inside the elevator is two buttons - one is labeled "2" and the other is labeled "1"

(((((DARKDATA)))))

You reenter the chest room and begin working your way back to the room with the statues.

(((((RIKU)))))

You sit against the wall, and catch your breath after the dizzying But you still don't know where the revolving door spit you out .....

----------------------------------------------

USEFUL INFO: fabio just unlocked a door. On the map, unlocked doors will appear green, and will forever remain open to all four players.

**WARNING: LOT OF SCREENIES **

Yup, this is it. I haven't done one of these in nearly half a year, so I'd like to show everyone the last screenies you will ever see of this hack until it is released - which, I really hope most of you are looking forward to .

I began the very first level of this hack on August 15, 2005 - a.k.a. one year and 3 months ago. I plan to finish this hack in January or February at the absolute latest. I'd especially like to thank the creator of the first ever YI hack - Golden Yoshi - for beta testing this hack throughout for me. Even though he doesn't come here anymore, he is still an exceptional help. Heres to hoping mine can be the SECOND ever YI hack

There will be many people to thank when the time comes, but this is not the time - yet. This is the time to show you all a final compilation of screenshots - ranging from the end of world 1 to world 5. I hope you will take the time to look at each one and reply with an honest thought of the hack.

Now, without further ado...let's begin. Level names appear above pictures.

1-8: Salvo's Revenge

2-1: The Cave of Twilight Terror

2-2: The Nimbus Sprint

2-3: The Haunted Garrison

2-5: Landfall Ho!!

2-6: The Passage to Mt. Stone

2-8: Summit Floral Fortress

3-2: The Cave of Eternal Ice

3-3: Blizzard Valley

3-5: Chomp Country

3-7: The Quarry - Spooky Sprint

3-8: The Rocky Castle of Chance

4-2: Monkeys' Fairground Fun

4-4: Crumbling Aquatic Palace

4-6: The Cave of Jungle Fever

4-8: The Ancient Koopalopolis (sewer was a PITA to make)

5-2: Novaglint Crematory

5-3: The Eternal Palace - Lobby

5-4: The Eternal Palace

5-5: Balloon Barrage

5-6: Poochey and the Egg

5-7: Morpher's Malady

Goody #1: The New Intro, which simply says SNN with a melon, because, as stated 600 times, melons FTW.

Goody #2: Pro-ness of the OW - you may remember the previous world 3 screenie with the new font, icons, text, etc. Meet the new, NEW OW, now with palettes that semi-match the worlds theme. All I can say is, they are pleasant when not moving the cursor

Goody #3: Title Screen - for those who didn't see the thread in June, take a look at the screen. Issues with the brightness of the 2006 have been dealt with.

Goody #4: New Sprites. Finally, littered throughout the hack are variations of the old sprites, and even a new one, called the Mys-Tik (which was only in my avvie for 3 months ) Take a look at the Military Guys, and the Mys-Tik.

----------------------------------------------------------

Phew. As I said, a lot of screenies enclosed, but this will be the last update until the release, so I want to make it as formal as possible. A few of the screenies are repeats from my thread in June - the others have been posted in General Screenie Thread - but not all of you look there.

Guess that's it for now. I'd really like to release this hack soon, so let me know your honest opinions, questions, or concerns on the screenies.

Thank you for being supportive over this last hellish year and 3 months, and I hope to please you all with a fun, challenging hack

Lots of difficult puzzles you really need to think hard about on how to solve right ???

I haven't played the SNES yoshi's island in soo many years...i loved that game though when i was a kid and I beat it a few times.....it's way better than the Yoshi's Story game for N64 at least in my opinion ....but yoshi's story was pretty good game too.

Of course there will be hard puzzles, have no fear of that On a side note, I hated Yoshi's Story...too straightforward and short for me

I'm glad to see all of the positive feedback so far...happy to see people like it, as I had hoped. I'm really hoping a lot of people will play it at its release - I assure you, it will be promising.

Yeah, a while back. I actually semi-revamped that room, as the lack of action in it bothered me

6. Everyone loves the occasional simple level. Spiffyness.

The levels actually follow a sort of climax theme...X-1 is easy, X-2 is tougher, X-3 is hell, and X-4 is bloody hell. Then it calms down a bit, and climbs again. The level you are looking at is X-5

Originally posted by The 13th Prodigy

15. No, just...no. That looks...ebil. So evil, it's misspelled

That's the easy part of the level

I don't like the new look of some of the sprites, the originals look far better...

Did you mean the FBI Shy-Guys? Those, and the one below are really the only two new ones in the screens.

The baloon one isn't that bad though...It's the Mother Duck right?

Yeah. I had other intentions for the Mother Duck later in the hack, but eh...that idea got flushed away rather quick

Say, is it just me, or have you not changed the World maps yet? Or can you not do that?

Well, I'm sure it can be done, but I don't intend to do it. I think level icons are sufficient enough for now

Thanks for the positive reviews guys, hoping this can be done ASAP

My promise to you is that the first level will be longer and harder than the last level of the original

No, but seriously, some of the levels are much longer then the original (wait til you play 5-3, heh) while others may be just as long as the original, but much harder. I can assure you you'll face a large variety of difficulties in the hack

@OOC: So much for keeping my promise - I mean it this time, updates more often

------------------------------------------------

(((((DARKDATA)))))

You keep dashing towards the statue room. You finally make it to the door, and pull it open. Nothing has changed since you were last here. The door on the far wall is still locked, and needs a key....but what dangers lie beyond it?

(((((RIKU)))))

You look around the walls for something that might tell you which way you're facing - but nothing directional jumps out at you. However, on an opening in the wall, there is a strange looking battery. It is labeled "High Strength and Durable. Good for tough situations like haunted mansion kidnappings."

(((((FABIO)))))

As you walk past the torches, they seem to flare with life. When you get about halfway across the room, a tile in the floor suddenly crashes down under your foot. However, you immediately realize you just stepped on a switch. A large slab of stone crushes down from the ceiling and blocks your way forward - but a portion of the wall beside you opens, revealing a new passage.

(((((CIRVANTE)))))

You hit the button labeled 2. The elevator door crashes shut, and the voice you hate bursts through an intercom in the roof. "It looks like your little friend gave you a head start. However, this will not be easy for you, AHAHAHAHA." The intercom crackles, and then falls silent. All of a sudden, the room goes pitch black, and you feel the elevator falling lower and lower....all you can do it wait and pray you land safely.

-----------------------------------------------

USEFUL INFO: In another couple of turns, one of the players is about to reach Floor 2. I am going to publicize the map for everyone to see - however, none of you except Cirvante will know where you'll end up when you get down here, so don't think the map will help you...yet....
