Shadow Queen from PM: TTYD was a sweet boss. A bit realistic for the game though

Lord Crump was comic relief, and a good fight.

Notice how they're both from TTYD yet.....??

My favourite music in MKDD was Frappe Snowland, Mushroom Bridge (hell yes) and Rainbow Road.

On-topic: My most disappointing moment? Try losing the All-Cup Tour in Mirror Mode by 1 point in DD. It happened to me And I thought I was the master of Rainbow Road.

BMF: If I recall, there is no character switching in the final version. Therefore that is an interesting find

I noticed the...shall we call it "Status Bar" with your health, items, and such, is also a different one than the 5 options in final.

....this is an interesting beta, thats for sure

Don't scrap the hack. It sounds interesting. You don't have to be a programmer to have a good hack (it makes the hack spiffier, but there are still OMGAWESOME hacks without programming)

But I have to agree with the others: screenies would be a must.

This hack looks really great so far I like a lot about it, but I see a few bugs I should point out to you...

Directly in the middle of the water, theres a little white rectangular thing sticking out of surface. Is that a glitch, or just a submerged object?

This is one of my favorites. I love the background fence - you did a frickin excellent job on the detail. Superb

I like the concept of this. It looks like you have to jump from really high to push the platform down to get the key. Nice idea

This is nice, but you should really add coin blocks/coins/something. As it is now, it looks a bit plain. Unless of course there WERE coins that you already got

The overworld looks fantastic. But two lil things:

1. The way the small islands touch the water looks weird. Theres like...a little smidgen of brown in there that looks strange. Would it be possible to change that to green. (if you dont get what I mean let me know)
2. The palette of the small, far-right green decorative island in the water looks funky.

Great work other than that.

As for your two first OW screenies, they look superb. I found nothing to complain about on them, aside from the fact that the cemetery Mario paths look a little odd (thats probably just me )

Awesome job. Sorry for the long post, but I hope it helped you...or something Can't wait for the demo

Hmmm.

Spike balls have to do with the tileset, yes. Not the sprite set - only things that have to do with sprites are the green squares in EggVine. I'm pretty sure this is either caused by an incorrect tileset (should be tileset 4, but as you said, you have it copied) OR, I'm guessing it could be your layer one object palette. If your layer one object palette is anything other than 4, the blue spike balls will probably turn messed up. Change your palette to this.

If it's already like this....then post a screenshot of your header for that level, and Ill see what else it could be.

Good luck

Woah....what the...?

Your tileset and layer 1 palette both match 5-3. ...I have no clue why they look like that. My only other guesses would be that the spike balls are layer 3, or it has something to do with the snow.

If neither of those work, then I'm stumped. Sorry

Yeah....I haven't hacked SMW in who knows how long. When the board was revived, I posted some screenies of a hack I had started, but never did any more on. I'm actually gonna continue this hack now, and I figured I should post some old (and new) screenies.

Here is the Quinta-Isles OW (Quinta....5...get it?) I'm hoping I can squeeze in some ExGFX in there soon

Here is a shot from Quinta-Isles 1. It's an old one....has enough action I guess

Mario is about to have a rude awakening.

Quinta-Isles 2. Palette swap with different enemies and such.

Desperate for the midway point.

So yeah, I know a lot needs to be done, like the status bar, custom OW (I know about the text on the OW too - it needs to be fixed.)

Any constructive criticism or comments?

I really like how the overworld looks. I mean, the way it turned out. Green a blue mixed like that -- nice! The levels look okay, and the sonic graphics are pretty neat. Overall, I think everything is coming along nicely. Good work.

Thanks . My favourite part of the hack is probably the overworld too

Wow. That has to be the most unique and out-of-the-blue idea I've ever seen. Great creativity

I think the levels look great! I love the border around them. One thing though - in the first screenie, what is that blue thing on the left wall?

Other than that it looks really creative and original. Great job

I love the custom sprites, and that FG looks fliptastic. The star world and special worlds could be storyline twists that take you there or something (I don't really know, I'm just giving suggestions )

I don't really have any complaints right now - C. Cliffside sounds great

I don't remember which sprite numbers they were, but look at that part of 5-3 and look near the spike balls. There should be sprites that say "Change palette..." or something or other. These change the tileset to castle so that it can use the spike balls. There should be more sprites past the spike balls to change it back to snow tileset, so use these sprites mentioned. The only drawback is that the castle tileset can't use the snow FG, so you will need to put these sprites away from any snow-related objects, however, they will work with the ice blocks since they are standard objects.

There are tileset changing sprites? Wow....where have I been? I could have used them in so many situations

The Kins: I really like the SMW sprites, especially how you turned Reznor into a Dino-Torch.

Here are some new screenies of YIKR, because no one asked for them. They show 3-6: The Quarry of Starlit Wonders (remember my palette from earlier? )

Not much action yet...this will be a "calm before the storm" sorta thing

BTW the shell in the second screenie isnt floating, I shot it there
