10^42. Don't make a death trap that requires save states to get across.
10^42+1. Don't make slopes that go down into a bottomless pit, so that if you slide on them you die.
10^42+2. No one-block-gaps. In SMB1 and SMB3 you could run over those, but SMW's engine is different so you fall down unless you jump which is very time consuming and boring.
10^42+3. Don't make a hack if your Internet alter ego is "legoman".

Try holding B while running across.

I've actually tried that, belive it or not.

You have to dedicate a lot of time to your hacks, legoman. You have 10 hacks !, and all of them are weird and bad.

Yeah. Legoman, before making "Extrem [sic] Island World Missio [sic]", read some basic mapmaking tutorials. Oh, and try your hacks before releasing so that you can make sure that there are no graphical glitches or that one level isn't impossible to complete. 'kay? I look forward to your next hack. Playable, maybe. Utterly laughable, probably.

Not if they're in a long line.

I mean something ALOT harder, something like this:

x*OOO
xxx OO
xxxxxx
^*xxxx

* - Note block

^ - Spike(s)

O - Normal ground

x - Space

So you'll have to time it EXACTLY so you go between the spike and note block. As you also should know, you have horizontal speed when the block is in the "stretch" state (about to fling you away.) In that state, you can hit the spike and die. If you don't move so much you'll collide with the down side of the upper note block, so you'll get shoved onto the spike. And die. K?

First post! Or maybe second, I dunno.

Wow, sounds like it's gonna be one hell of a hack. I've never heard of cutscenes and character changing in different parts of stages earlier. Oh, some screenshots to illustrate your concept would be really nice. If you have any time for that, that is.

10 hacks? Wow, in that case he doest spend much time at all on each hack.

Crysillion, my point is that if you made a hack, you'd wait until you knew techniques to make your hack good. You'd - before releasing it - check if there were any bugs in it, if maybe one level was impossible to complete, and if it looked nice. He obviously doesn't.

Posted on 06-26-06 05:40 AM, in This board has changed a lot hasn't it? Link
Why not slightly change the software so that moderators can give "Good Hacker" points? For example, more points equals access to the advanced area (and with that I mean you are DISABLED from posting in the board if you're a newbie, that the modification makes it impossible) and you could get those points by showcasing your hack that is esthetically pleasing. And you'd lose them by making stupid "how shud i mak cool lvls" and "XKEEPER IS A HOMOSEXUAL MALE!!" threads.

And an IP ban (the only kind there should be) wouldn't be a "You can't be here because you're too stupid" message but a forced redirect to the FAQ!
