Hello people.

I'm kinda stuck in DW:TLC. Alright, I'm in the fourth castle (The one at the end of Crystal Caverns) and I have no idea what to do. I get past the first three On/Off switches, but then I get stuck before a large lava pit. So, what do I do?

I should probably also mention that I haven't gotten any of the secret exits... I'm sure I'm supposed to have atleast one block switch my now.

Thank you for your help in advance.

No offense, but the help document included with the program sucks. Or maybe, I'm just too dumb to figure it out. I'm wondering if there is a better help file out there somewhere...

More specifically, I need help with editing the world map (More specifically, events), changing background images, changing level graphics (I thought I had it figured out), and changing the BGM (If possible).

Ah.. I love this kinda stuff. Since I finally got Project 64 working, I can actually do this. You say you gotta start with the Master Quest ROM?

Unfortunantly, you can't change the way backgrounds look. You can only switch between backgrounds that are avaliable in the header editor list (Edit-> Edit Header, [PullDown] Background). You can also change the scenery.

You can also switch to a new background at any point in the stage. Place an object tile on the second white line below the stage, right click, edit, and go to "change background". This can be used to create a cool night/ day effect... I kinda rambled there. My point is, no, you can't change what they look like, only which one is used...

Yeah, I made yet another SMB hack. This hack alters the graphics for the better, IMO. I added some custom stuff (Ground (Inspired by SMB2[J]), some blocks, etc.) and stuff from SMB3 (Goombas, Mario, etc.).

The shots are old, and Mario's colors are fixed (Grey is back to red). I guess his fire get-up kinda looks wierd, but it's fine. Luigi does look wierd though. I think he has a white outline.

You can see the topic at the forum I regular; PureZC.

Screenies:

.IPS in a .ZIP

I hope you enjoy this. I should also mention that I'm working on a "real" SMB hack. I have through 2-2 done. It is sort of buggy though. It is pretty hard too. It's a lot harder than lost "Lost Levels" (SMB2[J]) if you consider that game hard, that is. I though about calling is "Lost Levels 2", but right now, it is under the code name, SMB: Challenge.

This looks cool. I could never do Hex hacking though. It seems way too tedious. I'd rather learn C/++, ASM, and reverse asseble the ROM, and make an editor -.-'

doesn't anybody want to hack Mario 2 or 3 anymore?

I'd love to Hack Mario 3. It's my favorite

I may have some new screens later, but right now, I'm too lazy to upload them

This is not really the final version (hence the "v.1.0" at the end of the zip name). I hope to make Mario's colors like those in SMB3 (Black outline/ overalls, red shirt/ hat). I also want to change that ugly ass fire flower I made back. I wanna change the Koopas to the outlined ones in SMB3, and I really need to fix the swimming sprites.

After working for a while on SMB: Challenge, I realized that the engine is limiting. There is also a nasty, game stopping bug in 2-2 (the warp zone message suddenly appears in the middle of the stage). If I change the graphics at all in this hack (Which will probably be the afore mentioned things) I will re-insert them into the other hack. I can't garantee at this point I will finish SMB: Challenge... If I don't I'll release what I have. I assure you, it's no "n00b hack" either. It is a good solid, challenging hack. It has a few bugs though, but only one game stopper, which I need to quickly squish.

Hmm.

This is kinda the result I expected. I guess that's what you get for releasing something semi-incomplete. This is a bit out there, but, I made a little page for it with a lot more info, and new screenshots for those of you that don't want to download it (see sig). I'll also have one for my other, "real" SMB hack soon.

But, isn't the point of a game to entertain? This was merely meant as one more way to enjoy one of the best games ever made. But, if I finish the other one, Hopefully, it'll clear my not-so-good name I've already aquired (damn n00b graphics hack!)

This is a dumb question but, how do you enter GS codes in Project 64? I went to Settings-> Cheat, and messed around with the default stuff, but I didn't see a way to enter your own codes.

I can't post this in the other forum, so..

This is simple. I'm wondering if there is a list of what levels are assigned to each room. I know, you can look at their names in the Overworld editor, but I mainly need to know where "sub rooms" (Underground sections in levels, etc.) are, or atleast which rooms can be used for this.

Thanks.

Well, it's already here, so it's be nice if I could just get an answer without all the smart ass replies.

I'm starting to see what kind of place this is, and I'm not liking it too much. I just had a simple request.

EDIT: I thought this was ROM Hacking. Sorry. Perhaps it could be moved?

I'm only doing this because I'll get nothing but smart ass "ZOMG git it aprooved" replies in the other thread. I just have a simple question. Is there a list of rooms and subrooms anywhere out there? I know you can see the level names and level for each room in the overworld editor, but where are things like in-level underground areas etc.?

As for a little bit of information about my self: My reluctancy to post here raises every day. I'm only asking for help. I guess I'm that new annoying member. I have no interest of becoming active in this community other than asking for help. So, if you help me, I'll be on my way.

Thank you.

I'm working on a SMW hack, and I have a few levels done, and I'm working on an overworld. If I'm apporoved, I can share it with all the n00b haters that care.

I actually have high hopes for this hack, but I can't even change backgrounds or the graphics a room/ level uses. I need a lot of help, and I'm sorry, but the help file that comes with the program sucks. I have a different tutorial, but it's not done, and it's missing a lot of stuff. If I'm able to ask directly, and get the help I need, I can hopefully bring another great hack to the community. I can't really be more active here anyway, since I'm already very active at a forum that appriciates me.

If you'd like, I can show some screens that will hopefully prove that it isn't a n00b hack (in terms of level design).
