Yeah, sounds like an interesting idea. Sometimes it might come in handy to find something, as I know I don't always remember what thread something was in... hell, sometimes I can't even remember what forum something was in.

Ah... for a second there I thought you might have been talking about Klezmeritis -- they were guests on Spicks and Specks tonight, "klezmerising" songs for the "Look What They Did To My Song" game.

I somehow managed to guess "Stairway to Heaven" and "Take Me Out" (Franz Ferdinand) and I don't know how

I listen to some music in foreign languages; but generally not a whole lot, I just tend to listen to whatever happens to turn up on JJJ -- which sometimes includes some French stuff.

Meh, I know I should go in and out of PHP more, but I dunno, I guess I'm partially doing it to force myself to be mindful of syntax.... syntax that I repeatedly break anyway. I need to stop doing that.

On the bright side, I only broke syntax once last night, when I made my Temperature Converter

I'm enjoying making converters -- it's forcing me to use the knowledge I've learned independent from the base learning exercises and actually ensuring the data is sinking in better. Which is why I guess I know the importance of exercises to my learning process -- simple challenges to ensure stuff actually "sticks" in my head

Oooh, thanks for that explanation. I had guessed vaguely that the problem was likely related to PSU capacitors (after all, every fried PSU I've ever pulled apart has a dead capacitor as the cause), but hadn't put much thought into it further than that...

That makes a lot of sense

lol... oh yeah... I sometimes listen to Japanese music as well. And there is some Russian music I like too. But both are anime or video game related

I haven't listened to it much lately (or much of anything really, for that matter...)

Uh... thanks I guess I try to improve myself as a way of coping though..

30 pounds is a lot to lose, so it sounds like you're doing well. Might I ask how much you intend to lose? If you don't like exercising much, there are ways to exercise without really feeling like you are too much -- I think all you really need to do is 30 minutes of something like walking a day, and that's enough And it doesn't need to be all at once, so that could be a bus stop early on the way to work... one on the way home... and a walk at lunch time

Kasdarack -- I've never had bulimia, so I don't have much advice to offer you on this one Do you have friends or family that are supporting you with it?

We have a thread on facial hair, I'm wondering about hair elsewhere though.

Generally I'm more interested in hair removal... like good ways to remove hair. Shaving... sort of works... but I'm curious as to other forms of hair removal.

I tried a little device that pulls the hair out by the root. I tried it out on my legs. It does the trick, but some of my hair seems a bit fine, and it doesn't get rid of all the hair. It also leaves my legs all red and lumpy for a few hours, but I imagine anything that pulls the hair out might do this...

Need to look at a bikini waxing solution too now it's coming up to Summer Fun.. don't wanna think about it. But I don't think that should be too bad as it's only a small area.... a full brazillian wax sounds more painful, and even though I'm not a guy, but I always cringe at the thought of the ole "Back, crack and sack" wax

So how do you girls (and guys) remove body hair?

Okay, now that I'm not at work and it's loading better, I agree that the blockquote colour is too dark to use black text with.

Try white text, or lighten the colour. I've never been fond of particularly saturated blues (or any colour) either and text, it's always a little harsh on the eyes.

Yeah, I've been turned down before. I was a bit upset about it when it happened in High School, but generally not too bad.

It's worse when you're more emotionally invested in something. If it's only a case of an "I'd like to get to know you better" situation, it's a little bit of a bruise to the ego, but not much more. If it's somebody you have developed serious feelings for and you get turned down, it's not fun.

Just watching the Late Night News here, and they've just run a brief segment on Jabberwacky, claiming that the AI will replace things like call centre jobs.

I think not!

But all the same, I think it's a little interesting. Voice sounds a bit funny to me, but then I didn't expect it to sound "right" either. But I imagine they have a long way to go before something like that really could replace an experienced call centre / customer support operator.

Somebody once told me that time seems faster as you get older because... well, when you're younger, 1 year is a longer period relative to the rest of your life... (when you're five, a year is "forever") and as you get older, that changes and you perceive that time moves faster...

Which I suppose makes sense.

Why is it that after I manage to convince work to buy a 20" iMac, Apple go and release an even bigger one ?

Oh I want one... so very badly. I have a 20" Cinema Display, but the idea of having a glorious 24" screen with a nice, happy fast Mac.... I want....

Curse you, Apple.

Well that is bad.
Though I guess you could get work to get another one after a while

I'm also annoyed cause the 20" one was a D.O.A warranty Screen issues -- memory on logic board is bad.

I reckon Apple should give us a free upgrade

But I doubt work will buy a new Macintosh any time soon. They're not very... Mac... savvy yet. They have not yet succumbed to the Cult of Mac. But soon... yes... soon They'll come around to my way of thinking

Still... dammit Apple... I can't afford that 24" piece of hardware yumminess...

EDIT: AWWWWW GOD FUCKING DAMMIT APPLE WHYYYYYYYYY And I just bought a Mac Mini, too

Okay, I don't think I said it very well, but when you're five years old, 1 year is a fifth of your entire life! No wonder it seems like a really long time...

Now, I'm 26, and 1 year isn't such a big slice of my life anymore...

Yeah, it has a line that intermittently appears down the screen. I don't blame Apple... DOA hardware failures can happen to any company. It's a fact that there are occasionally bad batches of components that wind up in various manufacturer's products (Sony Batteries, anyone?), and stuff like that. But it does annoy me though... more how long a local business here is taking to warranty the damned thing (again, not Apple's fault; but my colleagues can't tell that). It's apparently video ram on the logic board.

I don't necessarily want to convert my colleagues into rabid mac fans, but I would much rather see them not bashing it based on a stupid hardware glitch, and their own weird misconceptions about Macintoshes.

I'd like to convert them into well-rounded IT individuals who are willing to work with other operating systems besides Windows. Or at the very least, I'd like to convince them that the Mac will not fangoriously rip their arm off.

If they join the Cult on the way... It's just cause that 20" iMac is so pretty

I'm confused... aside from an overinflated price tag and ridiculous delays, what exactly is the PS3 offering?

I'm not even sure if I'm interested in any consoles at the moment... it will depend I guess what comes out on the Wii...
